A great location, very close to walk to hollywood boulevard, walk of fame and chinese theatre All staff are very polite and very helpful. Breakfast was good. Refurbished room and upgrade was very good for us.

Lovely budget hotel. Very helpful staff.

If you are looking for a budget hotel close to the action of Hollywood this is for you. Some of the features could use updating. But everything is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Quaint hotel close to Hollywood blv

Hotel is 5 or 10 mins walking distance from Hollywood blv so a great location in that respect. We arrived an hour or so before check in time but were allowed to check in anyway as our room was ready. Delighted with this as it allowed to get settled & refreshed before returning our hire car. All staff we encountered were friendly & very helpful. Our room, a 'suite' was spacious & we'll equipped. The only negatives of our stay were 1) the condition of our suite - very much showing its age with cracked tiles & chipped enamel in the bathroom, corroded chrome fittings, etc, giving the impression of a tired property in need of refit/renovation, but I appreciate that may be difficult whilst maintaining the art-deco appeal of the place. 2) the breakfast was rather basic (muffins, bagels, a toaster, coffee, juices in a help-yourself arrangement) but sufficed just about for our needs. Despite these two minor comments we enjoyed our stay & we recommend to others as given the price paid it was still good value for money.

Perfect location for Hollywood

We were staying here for 2 nights while we explored Hollywood and visited Universal Studios. We stayed in the 1 bedroom suite which had a huge kitchen, dining area and lounge with tv. Everything was fresh and clean and the beds were really comfortable. The pool was great, never too busy. The real bonus was the parking underneath the hotel - there was always a space and you knew your car was safe. It was close enough to walk down to the stars and the theatre. We drove to Universal which I think took 10 minutes. The whole feeling of the hotel was great - with the trees in the courtyard it was easy to forget you were in the middle of LA.

Good hotel about 250 meters from Hollywood Blvd.

Spacious room with full kitchen facilities. Very knowledgeable staff who even knew the numbers of the local bus services and where they ran to (rather than simply suggesting a taxi).

Absolute dump

this was our first stop,after a long flight,only to realise with utter disappoint that the place was a total dump..the carpet in the room was thread bare,there was no safe in the room,we found the previous occupants fake eye lashes on the bed,the toilet wasn't clean. The room door had an inch gap at the bottom of it. The back door of the room leading out to the pool wasn't secure. Within ten minutes of arriving,we checked out.

I have just come back from a 6 day trip to this hotel it was great for location and stuff were really helpful. You get what u pay for in some aspects. But overall lovely stay would stay here again. One thing never get cabs there they are a rip off. U can walk down information desk near the train station and they can give you all the info on what trains and buses to get...

Amazing location...

Despite being woken up on our first night by a very vocal young lady who was clearly very happy with her hour-long stay with the Aussie boys in the room next to us, we enjoyed our stay at the Highland. Due to the rates, the hotel attracted plenty of young people, which is fine, but with the walls being paper thin and headboards being heavy, it's perhaps not the ideal hotel for families. The location was incredible though, I would stay there again for the price and location alone. The staff varied - the gentlemen on evening duty was lovely, but the lady on morning duty perhaps wasn't a morning person, and every morning she looked like she didn't want to be there. So that was a dampener, but it didn't ruin the holiday - it just would have been nice to get even the tiniest smile out of her. In summary - recommended, if you can tolerate a bit of a party next door every few nights.

Great location!

Always stay here when visiting Los Angeles, a few minutes walk from Hollywood Blvd and the attractions on there, walking distance to the Hollywood Bowl , hotel rooms, and pool are great. It's a cool place! Great value for money, no complaints from me!

Worst hotel of our trip

The hotel room was filthy: furniture was all broken, old and in disrepair, the walls and ceiling were very thin, homeless people directly opposite the hotel, carpet was absolutely disgusting. Breakfast was meagre, and would not recommend this hotel. Gardens and pool were the only enjoyable things.

Manage Your Expectations

This place is in a touristy hotspot yet it's cheap - ask yourself why. We had one night with a full-on party of some valley girls next door; another day permeated by a wanna-be singer, crooning scales non-stop upstairs. BUT our poolside apartment was big and there's free parking. We had to be close to the Chinese Theatres so it all made good sense for us. If you want a more conventional hotel experience pay more or stay further out.

This is the worst hotel I have ever booked. Looks really good online until we arrived. The front door was broken. The room reeked of cigarettes and dogs. The walls looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned/washed in months and the kitchen chairs were dirty with cigarette burns. The Manager did move us into a nicer room. However it smelled like a sewer. LAPD showed to another room banging yelling LAPD with guns cocked 10 deep. NEVER will I EVER stay here again. Book at your own risk!!!

The hotel was overall what I expected, but there were some glaring issues. No coffee or breakfast like was listed. No washcloths. And the other guests can be very loud at all hours of the night. However, the staff was attentive and friendly, it’s in a convenient location, and the free parking is amazing.
