Location, the overall building and access were excellent. Only downside is that the walls are quite thin, you could pretty easily hear voices and activity in the neighboring unit.

Great gem close to Union Station

Soooo close to Union Station and next door to a classic breakfast restaurant that has been around for decades, Lou Mitchell’s (closed Mon & Tue tho). Easy self check in, great quick customer service, comfortable bed and bedding, quiet except for the occasional ambulance. I reserved the Queen studio and the kitchenette was perfect. I’d stay there again on my next trip.

The hotel location is pretty good, there’s a lot of stuff within walking distance and the area felt safe. The property was a little strange because there’s no front desk staff. The room was mostly nice/clean but I found a live cockroach in the bathroom on my last day there.

We loved the space, very clean, great amenities, looks like a perfect combo of a cozy apartment and a hotel room. The only problem is that it’s not very soundproof, and you can hear people using restrooms or showering in the neighboring rooms. But would definitely stay again!

The apartment was clean and conveniently located. The mattress needs to be replaced because it was like sleeping in a hammock. The elevator was not working for the first day of our stay but it was quickly repaired and the communication was superb.

It was close to Willis. The communication was great which made it easy to navigate. Room was clean and comfortable. The only thing I would suggest is to put a chair of some kind in there. The only place to sit was on the bed and I am not very fond of eating food on the bed. Other than that, great stay

Sonder the Burnham was an excellent stay for us. We were able to park on the street in front of the building free! Although there was a parking lot right behind the building with reasonable parking as well. The room was very nice, bed was comfortable, and the kitchen area fully stocked. It was close enough to everything downtown to walk if you’re up for it, but just far enough away to not be in the thick of it. Would definitely recommend and will stay again next time we are in Chicago. Just know the only tv viewing option is streaming so be sure to have your account passwords ready.

I like the hotel, I did not realize there was no cleaning services or fresh towels. After 4 days the room needed some freshing and clean wash rags and towels. There was a washing machine but doing laundry on vacation is not for me.

Great location, clean - very THIN walls

Love the location, room is clean and nicely decorated. Bed is very comfortable. Unfortunately though the walls are PAPER THIN. When I arrived the first night, I could hear a baby crying clear as a bell through the walls and the mother speaking to the baby also very clearly. Two of my colleagues stayed on property as well, and reported the same. Noise carries a lot through the walls and you can hear everything the neighbors are doing. Their neighbors would playing loud music in the middle of the night. This should be addressed and improved because otherwise the property is good.

I had a deeply disappointing experience booking a stay at sonder. Despite having my reservation confirmed and providing all necessary identification, my booking was abruptly canceled the night before my arrival for possibly being a “risk” to Sounders community standards. The staff's demeanor and vague explanations left me feeling that this decision was rooted in racial profiling. It's disheartening to encounter such treatment in today's world. I hope sonder reassesses its policies and training to ensure all guests are treated with respect consideration, and fairness in the future. Would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a welcoming and safe stay.

Not a good property. Poor communication from Sonder across the board. Had to get Expedia to assist in accessing the hotel. No staff onsite to assist. Bed broke one night. Elevator not available for days for planned maintenance without notice. Rooms have damage in them that have not been fixed. Support through Sonder app & email is terrible... sometimes non-responsive. Was offered a full refund, but have only received a partial refund to date.

Clean, convenient location - but paper thin walls

The location was perfect for my business trip and access to Union Station for the week. I liked the Studio unit that I had, it was very clean and the bed was super comfy. The modern interior design of Sonder properties is nice too. However, the walls of the unit were literally paper thin. There was a family either above or next to me with a baby and I could hear all of their conversations and the baby crying at all hours. That made it hard to relax and sleep after working 12+ hour days. My colleagues stayed in a 2 bedroom unit during the same week and reported the same - their neighbors were playing loud music and partying late into the night and that was extremely audible in their unit, making it hard to sleep. There was also a homeless person sleeping in the lobby while I was there and that was unsettling that anyone can access the building when it's supposed to be a secure place to stay.

The facility is nice, but the room we were assigned was right beside an alleyway. During the night exhaust fans from the building in proximity to the large window of our unit emitted a high pitched noise that made it difficult to sleep. Although the instructions said there is no smoking in the building, at least 3 out of 5 days we were there, smoke could be detected in the hallway right within our front door. There is no coat rack or anywhere to hang coats or other clothing especially on cold and rainy days. The fridge was new and had an ice maker, but it did not work when turned on.
