Find mountain rentals near Escoural Cave

The property is a beautiful traditional style cottage next to the owner’s property & surrounded by gardens & fields. There are plenty of private nooks to find to sit in to either enjoy the sun or to find some shade. The house itself is perfect, very comfortable with everything you need. Maria & Fernando were excellent hosts & provided a much appreciated welcome selection of bread, milk, cheese, fruit & wine for our first evening. Maria spoiled us with treats of pastries turning up on the doorstep whenever they were there. The cottage is on the edge of the village which is delightful & there are several decent supermarkets in the nearby town of Montemor. The location is perfect for visits to Evora & the pretty towns around & about all with their own castles. The castle at Montemor is one of the best although the guide books seem to dismiss the town. I can’t fault our stay, absolutely fantastic.

We were two families of four (kids between 10 to 16) plus two grandparents (total of 10). We were looking for a tranquil place to spend 4 days together. This place was perfect. Totally isolated yet within 10min drive to village with mini supermarket and 2-3 very good local traditional restaurants. A larger town with large supermarket is 20mins away. The picturesque city of Evora is also only 25mins away. The house has a beautiful pool (big enough for 6 to play volleyball keepie uppie) and high ceiling spacious living area. All the rooms are modern and tastefully decorated. There is a large well equipped kitchen, although we chose to pick up our dinner from the local restaurants and eat in the courtyard of the house. Dinner in the courtyard was our highlight. No noise or light pollution, it is incredibly peaceful and stargazing was a firm favourite after dinner. Margarida was a superb host. Would definitely book again.
