About this property

2 bedroomed chalet in idyllic frontline coastal location, wonderful views

No 33 is a smart, newly renovated chalet in an ideal frontline coastal location on the beautiful South Devon Coastal path . The property has the most spectacular panoramic and interesting sea views .It is on a quiet , well looked after private estate of wooden chalets set above several small sandy beaches and overlooking Plymouth Sound and directly across to the unspoilt coastline of South East Cornwall.
The sandy beaches , complete with rock pools, are just below the chalet, accessed by cliff paths from the general car park . There is also a good cafe ( very friendly)serving food throughout the day,( also with amazing seaviews )at the entrance to the estate, and a little shop for milk, small range of groceries, beach toys and ice creams, etc. ( not always open)
The village of Down Thomas has a good pub, The Mussel Inn, and can be reached by a footpath near the chalet or a short 5 min drive drive up Bovisand Lane. There is also another good pub/ restaurant, The Eddystone, at nearby Heybrook Bay, which can be reached by a short car ride or by walking the beautiful coastal path towards Wembury. This pub is set above a small rocky bay and has amazing views of The Eddystone Lighthouse in good weather.
There is also a boat service from nearby Mountbatten that runs backwards and forwards across to the historic Barbican / Plymouth Hoe area of Plymouth at a very reasonable price.
There are numerous supermarkets for bigger shops within a short drive, both in nearby Plymstock or in Plymouth itself.Plymouth is an easy drive from the chalet and has a fabulous waterfront, The National Marine Aquarium, Theatre, Vue cinema, numerous restaurants, especially on the historic Barbican and along the extensive Plymouth waterfront. The whole South Hams ANOB area is within an easy daytrip drive of the chalet, as is access to the Dartmoor National Park .
The property is accessed by a short level path from the chalets nearby designated parking area . A weekly or daily parking ticket should be purchased from the machine in the nearby general car park area of the estate. This parking is run by a National Car park company charging daily, 3 day and weekly rates. There is designated parking for no 33 very near ,and within sight of, the chalet.
Electric car charging facilities are available at Morrisons Superstore in neighbouring Plymstock.
There are a couple of steps up onto the paved terrace (furnished with loungers, table and comfortable chairs ))which has an “infinity pool “ type view of the whole of Plymouth Sound , Plymouth Breakwater and across to the unspoilt Cornish Rame peninsular. The sunset views can be stunning from our terrace, best enjoyed from a lounger with a glass of chilled wine!
Access into the chalet is by large patio doors ,opening into a smartly furnished living room/ kitchen , again with stunning sea views. There is a freeview television, 3 seater sofa and armchair, small table and 4 chairs ( for indoor dining)new grey unit fitted kitchen and back door to the sheltered and very private small back courtyard, also provided with a table and chairs to sit around for breakfast(, if you want to be completely private and keep your pyjamas on for eating breakfast!) In this back courtyard. there is an attractive raised flower bed with herbs /parsley, mint, etc that you are welcome to use)
The front double bedroom ( 4ft 6 “ bed, very comfortable memory foam topper)has lovely sea views from the bed, a small wardrobe, oil fired heater , bedside cupboards , chest of drawers and table lamps.
The 2 nd bedroom looks out to the back courtyard and has twin beds( 2 ft 6 “ with memory foam toppers) which can be pushed together as a5 ft bed or kept as 2 singles as required. It also has a tall set of drawers and a bedside cupboard , oil fired heater and table lamp. Also the router is in this room. A multi purpose fire extinguisher and fire blanket is provided in the kitchen area.
There is a compact but efficient shower room/ toilet with heated towel rail, an electric shower and openable window to back courtyard.
There is very good mobile phone reception , good wifi throughout the chalet ,also a good TV signal at this property. Password is provided for the wifi in the chalet information book, which also has instructions on use of fittings and appliances in the chalet and rules of the estate.
Please note ,no pets , BBQs or smoking allowed in this property. BBQs are also not allowed on the estate or beaches due to the fire risk to the wooden chalets and surrounding cliffs. As can be seen from the photo gallery, the beaches are below the chalet cliff reached by concrete paths with steps and handrail. One sandy beach , the first just outside the entrance gate to the estate has a path without steps.
We do request that our guests are also mindful to respect the privacy and quiet enjoyment of their chalets by other guests and owner occupiers on the Bovisand estate.

Relaxing Break
Delightful chalet in a lovely position overlooking Plymouth Sound. Peaceful, relaxed atmosphere, with the opportunity for coastal walks as well as to the beach and surrounding areas. Lovely cafe on the estate and close enough to local shops for provisions. Two lovely pubs in the local village, 5 minute drive away or within walking distance. A very comfortable and well equipped chalet. We would definitely recommend if you are looking for a relaxing break. We would definitely visit again.

Amazing Spring break
The host, Shirley was amazing. The line of communication was really great and she was quick to respond to our messages and was ready to help when needed. The property was nice and clean and just as it was advertised. The view from the bedroom is breathtaking. There are really nice beaches within walking distance from the property. The neighbours are very nice and welcoming and the estate is quiet and safe. I’ll definitely recommend it for everyone.

We are farmers , holiday home owners living in the beautiful South Hams near Salcombe. We have lived here on our farm for 30 years, raising 5 daughters and many South Devon cattle and Dorset sheep.!We have had a holiday cottage letting business for many years on the Farm and have enjoyed making many new friends from these over the years! I was brought up in South East Cornwall, we can see the Rame Peninsular from our chalet and we enjoy looking across and remembering a very happy childhood there.!The chalet at Bovisand is enjoyed by our daughters and their families , especially on sunny days and when it is not let we often drive down to enjoy lunch on our terrace with our family and friends (when we can spend some time away from the needs of our animals and farm guests!) We particularly like the everchanging sea view, watching the huge Brittany ferries coming and going and the naval operations happening with the arrival and departure of the naval warships, frigates, submarines, naval helicopters ,etc in Plymouth sound.

Why they chose this property

The whole of the South Devon, South Hams coastline is unspoilt ,wild and beautiful. The chalet is very well located for exploring South Devon generally and by using the Torpoint ferry or Tamar bridge to explore into South East Cornwall. Or you can just lay on the loungers on the terrace, do nothing and enjoy the exceptional views and quiet location.
Plymouth is nearby for shopping, a huge choice of restaurants, shops, a fabulous waterfront, cinemas, Theatre etc for any not so good weather days when you dont want to go down to the unspoilt sandy coves right below the chalet.

What makes this property unique

Truly exceptional views, a very friendly and well looked after small private chalet park , a bit like stepping back into the 1950 s for oldfashioned values, considerate neigbours and a very safe atmosphere throughout the development.
