Recently constructed private "guest room plus" (suite) attached to enchanting seaside cottage. This delightful addition has its own separate entrance and includes a large bedroom with Queen size bed, cathedral ceiling and fir flooring from a historic home. Go down the small, pine-paneled hall and you will find a new bathroom with oversized shower and beautiful pine paneling. There is a pantry which houses a small refrigerator, microwave, toaster and Keurig coffee maker. There is no cooking stove although an outside gas grill is available for cooking upon request. From the outside you enter the suite through a sliding atrium door off your own 8' x 16' cedar deck that faces south and the spectacular view afforded by the Mussel Ridge Channel, Pleasant Beach and numerous islands. This location is visually stunning. Sit on the deck and watch the lobster boats, colorful buoys, birds or occasional rainbow and smell the salt air. If you're lucky enough to be there during a full moon...you'll remember it always. For those wanting to kayak you can launch your kayak directly from our front yard which abuts Pleasant Beach in a sheltered cove of Penobscot Bay. Walking and climbing the boulders strewn along the shoreline are popular pastimes for those who visit this area along with wonderful birding and photographic opportunities. We are situated 100 feet from the bay and 100 yards from the mouth of the Weskeag River, which is a popular attraction for both kayakers and fishermen alike. This property is conveniently located within a 30-minute drive of Rockland, Rockport, Camden and Port Clyde. Nearby attractions include the Farnsworth Art Museum, Owls Head Transportation Museum, several lighthouses and a plethora of shops, restaurants, lobster shacks and art galleries. Mt. Desert Island is but two hours north. Wifi is included. We do not accept pets, and smoking is not permitted on the property. The owners reside in the main cottage during the summer months to remain responsive to renter's questions/needs.

About the host
Hosted by Marc Long
We have spent summers in Maine for more than 20 years, and purchased this cottage in 2002 with an eye towards retiring here during the summer months. We have been doing renovations to this alluring little cottage since we took ownership. Our renovations are nearly complete and recently included the addition of a separate living suite in the attached wing. This wing affords us the benefit of using the cottage while ensuring privacy for ourselves and our guests. We are still in the process of repurposing a small building (which was moved from a nearby strawberry farm) for our use as a woodworking shop.
Why they chose this property
Our cottage is nestled among a small community of cottages, most of which have been in the same family for generations. There is history here along with spectacular coastal views. It’s an ideal spot to read, kayak, or simply watch the sailboats and lobster boats.
What makes this property unique
We are fortunate in that our property includes a large, flat open lot directly in front of our cottage. It abuts the beach and is south facing making it a wonderful place to enjoy the sun and the bay/beach. It is uniquely convenient for those wishing to launch and store their kayaks.
