About this property
'Spring Garden' Dog Friendly, Comfy Cottage
Spring Gardens is a dog friendly, 18th Century Lakeland farm workers cottage. It lies within the National Park and is a fabulous, comfortable base to explore South Lakeland. Conveniently situated in the village of Grizebeck on the picturesque Duddon estuary. Cosy & comfortable furnishings throughout. This romantic cottage is surrounded by fells the views are just stunning, this is an ideal walkers retreat. There is a great dog-friendly pub -The Greyhound Inn- opposite the cottage.
This makes this a perfect cottage for the family or a romantic break at any time of year. The beck runs at the bottom of the sunny enclosed front garden where you will find a picnic table, flowers and herbs. There is also a private car parking space to the front.
We love our pet, so if you have ONE well behaved dog, you'll find a few treats for them too. They have their own bedding- saves you lugging all the paraphernalia over! We have a stair gate to ensure they DO NOT SLEEP UPSTAIRS please for all guests comfort.
The cottage has a small enclosed garden to the front and a shared yard to the rear, please take responsibility for your pet with neighbors and use the bin over the other side of the road to dispose of any dog waste.
For your comfort, Spring Gardens is a smoke free cottage for a MAXIMUM of 4 people (including children), plus a baby in a cot. Nursery equipment available at no extra charge.
We recommend the use of a car to get the most from your holiday however,
A bus service runs from the village and connects to nearby villages and towns and the Cumbrian coastal railway.
Grizebeck is a small village, the petrol station has a post office, taxi service and shop, it sells basic provisions including logs and kindling (sticks) for the fire and the odd snack.
The Greyhound Inn in the village serves a selection of real ales, a decent selection of wines and gins. Delicious, locally sourced food. Can totally recommend for food and social interaction.
More shops, cafes and restaurants can be found in the neighboring village of Broughton-in-Furness, 3 miles away.
The nearest supermarket is Booths in Ulverston 7 miles away.
There is a good fish and chip shop in Greenodd 5 miles.
The Cumbia Coastal Way passes within 2 miles of the cottage.
There are many footpaths on the surrounding fells with stunning views of the mountains and coastline.
The Cumbrian mountains are a short drive away, a selection of Wainwright books are in the cottage.
This is an ideal area for both road cycling and off road cycling.
The west coast of Cumbria has some of the country’s best motor biking roads.
River and lake sports including fishing, canoeing and sailing are nearby, Coniston Water and Windermere are the closest lakes.
The tourist attractions of the South Lakes are all within a short driving distance (most within a 15 minute drive) the list is too long to mention, a selection of leaflets is in the cottage.

About the host
Hosted by Gary Milne
We both fell in love with this area of the Lake District a couple of years ago and decided that this would be the ideal spot for a holiday home. We have previously rented out a spare room and had another holiday home in Sherwood Forest and where possible we like to book other private accommodations when we are travelling throughout the UK and Europe so we feel that we know what makes a perfect place to stay, and we hope that you will agree with us if you decide to stay at our cottage.
