Welcome to the Salt Box located in the desired location at MP6 in Kill Devil Hills, NC. We fell in love with the Outer Banks as children and later fell in love with each other here. We were married on the beach just beside Nags Head fishing pier. This is our favorite place to be and we feel certain you will agree after spending your vacation in our beach cottage. We set our cottage up with all of our favorite things we have enjoyed over our years of visiting the Outer Banks. Our home is one block from gorgeous sunsets on the Albermarle sound and a short drive to free beach access. A public boat landing is within walking distance for the boat owner who desires to fish on the water. The Avalon Fishing Pier is only a 5 minute drive away.
After a great day on the beach, come and enjoy an outdoor shower and take a nap in the hammock or read a good book on the deck. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking meals at home and there is also a gas grill for your use. Staying at the Salt Box will provide you with all you need to make a memorable vacation with your family and friends. Our cottage has 3 BR and 2 BA, kitchen with bar area as well as an eat in kitchen. The living room provides a 55 inch flat screened TV with smart tv functionality, along with a Wii and plenty of video games and movies. The master bedroom has a King size bed and an attached full bathroom along with a flat screen TV, the second room has a Queen bed and smart TV and the third room has a bunk bed with a full on the bottom and twin on top and a flat screen TV/DVD player. Linens and towels are provided but we do recommend you bring your own beach towels. There is a washing machine and dryer in the utility room downstairs. We offer four bikes for riding on the bike trail along the sound side. The back yard is perfect for a game of corn hole (set in laundry room) or for the kids to play.

We do not accept pets. Guests must be at least 25 years of age or a family, this home is not suited for parties. The neighbors are permanent residents and we respect them. The front door has a blink doorbell camera for outside surveillance and safety.

This is a lovely property in a quiet, pleasant neighborhood. The accommodations inside the house were comfortable and very clean. Cleanliness is #1 for me and this property delivers. The bikes were great and we loved the bike paths and stopping at the overlooks on the sound. It is conveniently located for shopping and beach access in just a few minutes. We had some storms and a power outage and the property owners promptly responded and supported us until power was restored. We are repeat visitors and would be willing to stay again. IHighly recommend this property!

Better than the pictures

Owners put a considerable amount of thought and planning in this property. Prime location for all things to do in OBX. Floor plan does maximize space, not tight at all. Very comfortable stay, already rebooked for next year.

The Property and neighborhood are so beautiful, the house was very clean, comfortable, and we absolutely loved the decor. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating. They have beach chairs and beach toys…literally everything you need is there for you- just bring beach towels. We love the obx and can’t wait to return!

The place was very clean, and this is a big deal for us when we travel. The location was great, close to many things but far enough from the hustle and bustle. Owner was VERY responsive throughout our entire stay.

We are long time visitors of the Outer Banks and love this beach community. My husband is an avid saltwater fisherman and I am in love with the beach. We were married in Nags Head, NC and knew one day we would own a home here.

Why they chose this property

This house is fabulously decorated with all that you will need to have a great vacation or weekend get-away. This house is affordable for a family and still just a mile away drive to the beach. There is free public parking all up and down the beach. The boat dock just around the corner, literally provides quick access for the fisherman to the soundside of the Outer Banks.
