If you are 2 and just wish to rent the second floor you can consider a 30% lower price. Final cleaning fees should be paid on site at arrival (60 euros for one floor or 80 euros for both floors rentals).

Flat description:

The flat , which has been recently renewed (2012) is located in a typical local house in Riomaggiore historical downtown. It is 300 meters from the sea.

The first floor has a living room, 2 bedrooms and bathroom. The second floor has a small living room with kitchenette, a bedroom and another bathroom.

The 2 floors can be rented together (for 5 or 6 people) or separately (first floor only for 4 people or second floor only for 2 people). The privacy is 100% guaranteed in all cases.

Starting on the 2015 season we also have a small 'secret' garden for our guests. It is between the house and the mountain, confortable and nice with its orange, tangerin and lemon trees. It will be possible to spend here a few relaxing moments during your holiday. The garden will be available for those groups renting the first floor or both floors together and we will only request a small additional amount for the final cleaning (of course, only for those people who will like to use it).

Our rates are referred to the first floor part only: please read carefully on the notes below the price list the additional info for the second floor only or for the whole flat.


The apartment is a few minutes walking from the railway station or from the car parking.
We advise our guests that it is strongly recommended to arrive by train and to leave the car at La Spezia railway station parking as the car is not useful at 5 Terre (where you can go by train, by boat or even on foot across all the villages).
Riomaggiore is only 8 minutes by train from La Spezia and the parking in La Spezia is far cheaper than in 5 Terre.

Beautiful Cinque Terres

We had a great time. You can't ask for a better location. The hot water situation was a little frustrating but understandable, we should have been told before hand tho. All in all, great!

Perfect location

We were able to walk down for our morning cappuccinos and all over the village. Many stairs to access this apartment so if you have knee issues it would be a challenge. Also if you are a large person the bathroom and shower are incredibly small. Our Host Gaia was such a pleasure and we able to visit with her several times throughout our stay. Cinque Terra is a magical place and our 3 nights here were amazing!

Simple flat with ture Italian feel - bathroom need to be remodeled (first floor is poor) (second floor not great). Stairs to this flat are rough. Was tough with six (6) adults.

Great place to call home for a few days

We truly enjoyed calling this place home while visiting the Cinque Terre region. Riomaggiore is a great location to use as a base and I highly recommend this home as your central hub. There is nothing fancy about the unit, but it worked great and gave us the feel of a true Italian old home. Every question or concern that we had, Guiliana put to rest. A couple of the previous issues that people posted about where not found, the water was great. lots of hot water, the unit was extremely clean, thanks to the great Gaia, and everything that we expected was there. If you are looking for a great place to get a good night sleep in the Cinque Terre region this should be your first choice.

Great property!

Me, my wife and our two kids stayed at this property. It was great for what we needed which was: enough beds/bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom and being close to things in town. Not a ton of bells and whistles but we didn't want/need them. Very small but we were fine with that. Also, other tenants have mentioned the stairs and they may be an issue for some people. Then again, if you have issues with the stairs, you're probably going to have issues with the entire town. Great location. Great communication. Great price. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful Riomaggiore

The property is as stated on the VRBO webiste. The location is quite a climb from the train station. After walking all the way up to the rental location, we learned that there is an "elevator" that we could have used! This would have been extremely useful as we had luggage, it was very hot and we were very tired upon arrival. Also, please note that the showers in the rental are VERY tiny. Besides these two inconveniences, the place was wonderful. We stayed here with our 4 young adult children and we had a most amazing time. Gaia was very nice, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed chatting with her upon arrival. The views are spectacular and our 2 day stay in Riomaggiore was well worth the climb!!!!!

Good location, average amenities

The location of the property was close to the central area in Riomaggiore which was nice. Amenities were a bit lacking, particularly the bathroom. The bathroom was very small, especially the shower. We had to sit in the tub in order to shower and there was no shower curtain so water would get everywhere. The hot water took a while to heat up and was often on and off. Also, one of the rooms didn’t have a doorknob on the inside so I got locked in when I accidentally closed it all the way. Other than that, it was a fairly average place to stay.

I asked the host, Guiliana, questions about the property as I was not given adequate information at check-in and she sent me several text messages and emails telling me what a terrible person I am. I apologize and try to make peace with her but that made her more angry. She then called me up on the phone and screamed at me at the top of her lungs and demanded to talk to my husband for some reason. I never leave bad reviews of places because that is not my nature but I feel it is my obligation to warn people to avoid this property at all cost as the host is a rageaholic. There is also a lot of deception about the property itself. It says that there is a garden space available but there is not. When I asked the host about this she said that it is not available and that if it was she would have charged me extra for it. There's nothing in the property description that says anything about being charged extra for access to a garden space. The place itself is very dark and dreary and the mattresses are very old and you could feel their springs. The only positive feature as other people have noted is that the air conditioner works well. It is in a nice location although everywhere here is nice. Still you must do such a steep climb to get up the place and up the two flights of steps. The building itself is very run down and even unsafe as the downstairs door does not lock. My husband and I found a wonderful place right afterwards and the contrast was like going from hell to heaven in

The apartment was nice and in the same building as a gelato shop. There was a good restaurant within a block. It was quite a hike from the train station, uphill and many steps. However, I am 82 years old and I was able to make it, but I could not have carried my own luggage. Just be aware it is a lovely place, but it is a hike to get there. The host was available to meet us and gave us a tour of the building when we got there, she was very helpful. I would recommend this lovely apartment to anyone who visited this area.

Great location-Tight Accommodations

I was initially hesitant to leave this review, as I’ve noticed the owner can be quite sensitive to anything less than a perfect rating. However, I believe honest feedback is important and helpful to future guests.My husband and I stayed here with our three adult children (ages 20, 22, and 25). The location is truly fantastic; central, convenient, and a great base for exploring the 4 other towns.That said, aside from the location, the house itself is somewhat limited in terms of comfort. While it was clean, the space is very tight both upstairs and downstairs. My husband and I stayed upstairs while the other three stayed downstairs, and even with that separation, it still felt quite cramped. The most significant issue, though, are the beds. They are older spring mattresses, and the springs are extremely pronounced, to the point where we could feel them pressing into our backs and sides throughout the night. It was genuinely uncomfortable, and unfortunately, it made it hard to get restful sleep during our stay. Even something as simple as a quality mattress topper could make a meaningful difference.I’m not sharing this to be unkind, but in the hope that it helps future guests make an informed decision, and perhaps encourages some thoughtful updates to the property.All in all we did enjoy our stay in Riomaggiore!

It was great , BUT…

I’ve paid less for better. The bedrooms were almost as pictured, and the shared areas as well, but they are not 100% forthcoming in the booking process. The bathroom isn’t pictured for a reason, and leaves something to be desired. The “shower” is a 4x4 tub with no curtain and a hand held sprayer. Water would randomly go out and either be scalding or freezing cold. MAKE SURE to read the fine print while booking, because this rental is actually two apartments/rentals in one. They gave me keys that accessed both floors – even after claiming we did not book the upstairs/third bedroom (I’m 90% sure I did) – this made us uncomfortable. We had no idea if someone else was going to be staying up there or if they would have access to our rooms like we did. The rental manager also had no idea, and told us we would have to pay extra fees if we used the upstairs, even if we had already booked it. We avoided the upstairs and the trouble. When paying the extra cleaning fee and the tax, it must be paid in cash. We were not prepared for this (our fault), but the rental manager said we could leave the money under the mat at the end of our stay. She then proceeded to come back 4 times throughout the weekend asking us for the money. This place did what it needed. It gave us a place to sleep, and while the showers did not make us feel clean, it was only for a weekend. If you want to stay in 5terre, look in La Spezia before booking here. You’ll find nicer places for less money.

Family stay in Riomaggiore

A really great place to explore Riomaggiore and the southern parts of the Cinque Terre. The property is very central but set back from the main streets and feels quiet and tranquil, yet it’s really easy to nip out to get an early morning focaccia from the bakery! The place was very clean and well equipped for cooking meals and really suited our purposes as a family of 5 people. We arrived late in the evening on the train and walked up to the apartment to be greeted by Gaia who had stayed late to meet us, which we really appreciated. Thanks!

Great Experience

Very central, steps to shops, restaurants and train. Very clean, equipped and compact. Ran out of hot water at one time. Beautiful view from the balcony. Nothing could prepare you for the steep walk from the train.
