St. Day or Dye, a little-known saint, was the original inspiration for the name of the village (better known in Brittany). The granite, gothic-style church, built in 1828, is the oldest structure in the village, along with a pub and a convenience store. It's just 7 miles from Truro to the cathedral city of Truro, with its cobbled streets and shopping centre, theatre, museum, and great restaurants, or a few miles along the coast to Hayle and on to St Ives.
