Sunny, comfortable, well-equipped cottage 150 yards from harbor. Furnished front porch. Limited harbor views. Shady back deck with screened porch with dining table and comfortable wicker chairs. Large living/dining room, galley kitchen well supplied with cooking utensils and a lobster pot. Bath with tub and shower. One bedroom has twin beds, the other a double bed with Tempur-Pedic mattress and child's cot. Bedroom ceiling height 6 1/2 feet sloping to 4 1/2 feet. The bedrooms are accessed by an open staircase with handrail, as shown in the 'Dining Area' photo.

Gas stove with fireplace opening; perfect for cool June & September evenings. Smart TV with Roku & DVD; Wi-Fi. Scenic 1/2 mile walk on quiet harbor road to charming village. Screened porch; Webber gas grill. Beaches, lighthouse, museum, art galleries, kayak rentals, restaurants in Port Clyde and boat to Monhegan. Many cultural activities, including the Farnsworth Museum's multi-generational Wyeth collection in Rockland, art galleries, theaters, many restaurants and golf in Camden, Rockport and Rockland.

Sheets & towels plus dish towels to be supplied by renters (but available for a fee if preferred). No smoking. No cats; dog with owner's permission plus fee.

Tenants Harbor amenities: well-stocked grocery store with deli and pizza, post-office, and the tavern and restaurant at the East Wind Inn. It also has an excellent library, a town pier/boat ramp, and a little beach, at low tide, next to the town pier.

In Port Clyde, 4.5 miles away, is Drift Inn Beach, a restaurant and an ice cream shop, kayak excursions, boat to Monhegan, and Marshall Point Lighthouse.

It’s such a beautiful property that feels so cozy. Loved the sun room, wood stove, and being welcomed with flowers. Conveniently located in Tenant’s Harbor with amazing views- even of the lake even though it’s on the other side of the road. Loved recommended food places and little coffee shops in Thomaston. Would absolutely stay here again.

Cozy, lovely getaway

This cottage is just the right place for someone wanting a quiet, local, lovely getaway. Suzy is an outstanding host, and I really enjoyed all the tiny details that made it more comfortable. It's warm, inviting, smells so good with all the wood and woods around. There is a lake right down the street with the most gorgeous sunsets. From the screened-in-porch to the cozy living room and bedrooms, it was an enchanting place to stay.

Amazing House!

I had stayed with my family at the house for a week, and it was absolutely lovely at the house! The outside areas were great, and the inside felt very cozy and quaint. The house isn’t large by any means, but it wasn’t any problem for me or the people I was staying with. Another thing I loved was the neighborhood, since it felt like the perfect place to take a nice walk. Overall, my stay here was great, and I would recommend it for any future guests.

Country meets ocean!!!

Unique sea shore cottage nestled in the trees. You feel as if you are camping with amenities in a quiet wonderful neighborhood! We rode bike daily to the Tenant Harbor and Port Cydle general stores and they had every need we had and had two great meals! Ventured north several days to Lincolnton Beach, shopping in Camden and Acadia National Park. Had a wonderful last day staying local and soaking in the sea at Drift Beach, quick visit to light house and caught the sunset in Port Clyde. Our first vacation to Maine and we enjoyed every moment, thank you to wonderful hosts Suzy and Joe! Can't wait to visit again!!!!

Charming cottage

This cottage was charming and welcoming. The front porch offered a warm spot in the sun, and the back porch was wooded and private. If rustic charm appeals to you, this spot is perfect. Tenants Harbor was a quiet village with just enough amenities to be convenient, but not attract the crowds of bigger destinations.

Wonderful cozy cottage in a gorgeous area of Maine

We stayed in July and had a wonderful two weeks at the cottage! Suzy was so helpful in conversation and email before we arrived and during our stay, even getting some basic groceries for us so we wouldn't have to shop on arrival. The cottage was cute, very clean, comfortable, and outfitted with all we needed in the kitchen and bedrooms (we brought our own sheets and towels). We loved sitting on the front porch and back screened-in porch for meals or quiet time reading. The half-mile walk down to Tenants' Harbor is filled with beautiful views of the water, islands and lobster boats - just walking my dog in the morning was a pleasure. My kids (8 & 12) loved their cozy attic bedroom, where I slept well too in the other room, and my mother (81) was comfortable downstairs on the fold-out couch. There is a retractable gate at the top of the stairs to ensure safety. TV and wifi worked perfectly so I was able to work, including Zoom calls. We went to the Drift Inn beach almost every day, and enjoyed meals at McLoon's lobster shack and dockside at the Dip Net in Port Clyde. We also drove up to Rockland, Rockport, and Camden a couple of times for a swim in Rockport harbor and dinner at Flatbread. We stored our bikes and beach chairs/boogie boards in the nearby boathouse/shed, and also used some of the beach chairs that came with the house. There is very little COVID-19 in this area of Maine, and it's clear residents are working to keep it that way, with universal mask-wearing in effect. We love this area and hope to rent this cottage again!

Gracious Hosts and Lovely Cabin

The title says it all. Suzy and Joe provided a wonderful escape for my wife, 1-year-old and I. The cabin was quaint and peaceful and had every amenity we needed. We even had a coffee grinder delivered to us within minutes of asking where I might find one in the cupboards. Suzy and Joe were also very gracious when I absent-mindedly forgot (more than once) a couple of different things. Thanks for everything!

Lovely, super clean, No Frills but everything you could want.

We absolutely loved our stay in this Cottage. When we booked the reservation our hosts let us know that there was little insulation and not a lot of any kind of central heat. We decided to brave it and I'm so glad we did. The bed is super comfortable and there is plenty of warm bedding upstairs. I was not cold for a second once I got under the covers. Downstairs is a cheery, easy to operate gas stove that keeps them main floor cozy and we certainly saw the temperature drop to below 40. The kitchen is nicely appointed. If you're a foodie bring a good knife, but otherwise every size of pot and pan that you need is there. And of course all you're going to do is steam lobsters and sear scallops, so have at it! Joe and Suzy, thank you for sharing a part of your past with us. We very much enjoyed it and will recommend it to friends who might want to visit Midcoast Maine.

Adorable cottage

My husband, daughters and I loved this adorable little cottage, it had everything we needed. It was very clean and had nice comfortable beds. The gas stove kept it warm. It was in a great location, off the beaten track, but still near all the sights we wanted to see. Would love to come back sometime!

We enjoyed our cottage every summer for 1 to 2 weeks every year, starting in 1985. It wasn't until 2013 that we moved to Tenants Harbor, after spotting a year-round house for sale on the same street as our cottage.
We surprised ourselves by making the decision so quickly; we had lived more than a decade on Peaks Island, Maine. We had always enjoyed the beauty of Tenants Harbor and have learned what a wonderful year-round community it is. The views from our street and throughout the town change with the season, time of day, and weather and are a constant source of pleasure.

Why they chose this property

We were looking for a good location and something we could afford. We love the slow pace of Tenants Harbor and its proximity to the excellent shops, services, museums, and other entertainment in the towns of Rockland, Rockport, and Camden.

Since 1985, we've made some improvements, most notably the screened porch, the addition of a shower, and a thermostatically controlled gas fireplace, but we've kept the simple interior.

What makes this property unique

The cozy interior and the outdoor spaces; the views of the surrounding woods and the limited views of the harbor across the street. We also love the street we're on which hugs the harbor all the way to the center of town.

You can walk to the center of town in 15 minutes or less (about 1/2 mile) with beautiful views of the harbor with the sailboats and lobster boats and small islands. (Kayak Rentals are available through Port Clyde Kayaks, 207-372-8100, and will deliver free.)

The cottage has many windows so there is cross ventilation and many views.

The furnishings are attractive and comfortable, including the mattresses, and in good repair.

The wi-fi signal is strong; the TV service is limited via a Roku device, and a DVD player is provided.

The gas fireplace, operated by thermostat, is perfect for cool evenings or cool fall days.

The screened porch enables you to be, in effect, outdoors, but protected from the elements (in case of rain). It's a lovely place to read or eat a meal.

The boat house provides good storage if you bring bikes or kayaks.
