After the long and winding roads the space opened up into a beautiful area. The house was well suited to our needs and we thoroughly enjoyed the fireplace. From our experience check out at 11 would have been better. Rising early on a vacation to check out seemed a bit of an oxymoron. The juccuzi was a welcomed sight after the long journey

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed the beautiful location, the fireplace, and the jacuzzi! We understand your comment about the 10 am check-out. However, we have a lot of turn arounds on the lake during the season so this gives our cleaners time to do their very best to offer our guests a clean home when they arrive. Had you contacted us to ask for an 11 AM check out during this time of year, we would have absolutely been able to approve the extra hour. Future guests, in order to get to the lake and be on the Smoky Mountain side (near all the tourist attractions), you have to travel over the peninsulas created by the foothills of the Smokies to the lake. These peninsulas range from around 3 miles to about 6. Gone Fishing is 4 miles off of Highway 411. Thank you for being our valued guest.

Relaxation on the Lake

Gone Fishing was fantastic. Cozy, plenty of room, great deck and view - even with the lake being lower, secluded, awesome wood fireplace, enough room to set up our dog's kennel, plenty of extras in the cabinets and so many games to play. We had a great time spending Thanksgiving with our family there and would love to come again.

Future guests: The owner cleans this unit personally. She absolutely takes great pride in cleaning with zero complaints this entire 2019 season until this one! She will be devastated to hear this comment. What I don't understand is why guests don't let us know during their stay that they are unhappy with something. We make it right during the stay so not to receive a less than 5 star review. So, when you rent this home, or any other home from Smoky Mountain Lake, LLC, please let us know anything that does not meet your standards. If it is possible to improve or correct, we will do it. Why? Because my owners and I care! Lynda Smoky Mountain Lake, LLC

The home was actually bigger than the pictures make it out to be. We had a wonderful time fishing and swimming in the lake. Local attractions are not too far out along with stores and shopping. Our family had a wonderful stay at the Gone Fishing rental on the lake! The house was much roomier than the photos suggested, giving both our family and pets plenty of space to spread out without feeling cramped. Tucked away at the very end of the drive, the property felt private and secluded. While you can see another home across a small section of the lake, it truly felt like we had our own peaceful spot to swim and relax. Our dogs especially loved swimming and then lounging on the gated deck to dry off. We visited in mid-August and noticed the lake level dropping a bit each day—it was interesting to see, though I wouldn’t recommend booking later in the season if you plan on swimming or using the dock. The house was well-stocked with everything we needed, and communication with Lynda was excellent. It’s only about 15 minutes to groceries and gas (a short but winding drive), and still an easy trip to local attractions. And don’t miss the BBQ stand on the main road—it was a great find!

Lovely private lake vacation

The house was very very clean, with lots of extra amenities for cooking. It was very comfortable for 5 teens/adults and our family dog. We preferred bottled water to the tap. We spent most of our time at the home on the deck or in the lake. Had fun floating, paddle boarding and fishing in the lake at the house. Loved the fire pit, hot tub and ample seating on the deck. Most of the time we were the only ones on the lake and it felt very private. Grocery store within 15-20 mins; restaurants within 20-30 mins. We visited Smokey Mountain Watersports where we rented Pontoon boat one day and jet skis another day -lots of fun!!. We visited Pigeon forge and Smokey Mountains. First time at Douglas Lake and everyone loved it. Thanks!!

Wow wow wow

Pictures don't do this property justice. Last house at the end of the road. Very private, only houses you can see is down the lake, a distance away. Lots of extras and well equipped. Very comfortable furniture including 2 recliners. Extremely clean. Love the option for trash removal. Great lake views even in March, even though the lake is down this time of the year. Don't hesitate to book this cabin, you won't regret it. I extended my 1 week vacation for 3 more days. Didn't want to leave. Has plenty of firewood and even kindling and newspaper for the fireplace. Has full size coffee pot and a K cup maker. Bring your toiletries. Has lots of spices there. Peaceful, quiet, private. You can tell the owner takes great pride in this home. Will book again. One of the best homes I have rented in a long time, which I rent at LEAST 2 cabins a year. Easy to get to with GPS, easy check in, great communication.

Lake Vacation

Jim and Marcie were very kind hosts. Our two families really enjoyed the peaceful dock and hot tub on the big back porch. The lake water was peaceful and calm for the little ones to swim in and jump off the deck. We didn’t hear any of the neighbors and felt like we had the little cove to ourselves. The view across the lake was the best part. Our dog loved running up and down the hill watching everyone swim. The water was perfect for jumping in, we enjoyed watching the kids from the hot tub, and s’mores in the fire pit between jumping off the dock. The kids loved catching frogs and throwing rocks in along the point. We attached tubes to float off the dock and brought kayaks and SUPS to adventure across the lake. We went to town two of the days for ziplines, moonshine tastings, deer farm, pirates voyage, forbidden caves, smokies hiking, and ice cream. We also enjoyed some road biking on the hilly roads with great views. We were always happy to return to our quiet place after. Kitchen was small but had all the utensils and pots we needed to cook big family meals. Only drawbacks was the house was a little dated, the sulfur drinking water, and the last renter must have been a smoker but the smell cleared over a few days. Overall We really enjoyed our stay and would go again.

I am so glad it sounds like you had a 5 Star Vacation. I would like to respond to the items on why I think you gave the home 4 stars. Our area has very intermittent sulphur that comes into the well system but runs it's course and goes away. Thankfully, this does not happen often and is intermittent. As for the small kitchen it is what I call a galley kitchen and if you are not used to a galley kitchen it can seem small since it is not wide enough for a center bar. The house does not and never has allow smokers. The guest prior to your stay was not a smoker. What we believe you smelled was the result of wild fire smoke that has settled in our area due to some fires currently burning in our country. You can find multiple stories online about this smoke that our area is dealing with this summer. I hope this makes our future guests feel comfortable about these issues.

Enjoyable Spring Break Getaway

My family thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Gone Fishing! We were very comfortable and had plenty of room for us and our 3 children! We enjoyed sitting together at the large dining table and watching TV together in the living room. Even though it was chilly, we enjoyed breakfast on the back porch, just staring out at the water. A couple of nights the kids and I were able to relax in the hot tub! We had everything we needed and the listing was accurate about what they had on site. The only minor complaint we had as a family was the well water. The water pressure is significantly lower than what we are used to and it had a different type of smell at first. If you let it run for about 3 minutes before using it, the smell dissipates. I read that this can be common with well water/pumps. Even still, it wasn't a big issue, just a minor thing and different than what we're used to. Also, when they say check out is 10:00, they mean someone will be waiting in your driveway at 20 til! We were rushing to get loaded up because people were waiting for us to get out. It is off the beaten path and exactly what we were hoping to find, away from all the busy areas but close enough to get to those areas when we wanted to! We would absolutely stay here again!

I am so very glad you had a great time. Thank you for the Five Star Review. I also appreciate your mentioning the following: Yes, the well water is good for the most part in East TN, however, whenever our houses sit for more than a few days, the hot water side probably causes the slight smell till it runs out. But, on to the cleaners being there 20 minutes before 10. This is something my agency does not approve of and it has been brought to the attention to the owner. This is a local owner maintained home and I am sure this won’t happen again. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. We look forward to having you as our guest again.

Perfect Family Getaway

This was such a great place to stay in the Sevierville area to feel like you were away from the crowds but still close enough to go into town and enjoy all Sevierville has to offer. There is a Dollar General very close by and Food City is about 12 minutes up the road. The lake was BEAUTIFUL this time of year and we enjoyed jumping off the dock and playing in the water. Yard was nice to setup some outdoor games for the kids. Also, the hot tub was a nice touch to a very relaxing spacious deck. Loved the open living/dining area which was perfect for family meals and board games. The beds were super comfortable and the house was stocked with a lot of what you need for the week. We utilized the propane grill as well as the kitchen for cooking meals. Loved that this was dog friendly and that is what was appealing to us in the beginning. There is a little dog lot that was perfect if you needed to put your dogs up and away. Definitely enough room to park four to five cars comfortably. Also enjoyed being able to walk my dogs up the gravel road leading up to the house and loved that this house is tucked off by itself at the end of the road. Definitely recommend some updated pictures to the listing because I was pleasantly surprised at some of the updates they have made. The flooring is BEAUTIFUL and living room furniture/ Kitchen table looked brand new. I know some of the comments had stated this was outdated but not any more! :) We would DEFINITELY stay here again. :)
