About this property
2 Bed in Appledore (oc-whimbc)
Set in a quiet and colourful lane in the heart of the picturesque fishing village of Appledore, this stylishly updated cottage is full of character and makes a fantastic holiday retreat for couples and smaller families. Perfect for exploring the quaint ports and beautiful beaches of North Devon, the property is close to the quay and retains plenty of original features including low timber beams, sloping ceilings, steep cottage-style stairs and exposed stonework. Offering cosy accommodation for up to four guests, this lovely hideaway is perfect for keen walkers, beach lovers and water sports fans.
Entering the cottage, you will find the delightful beamed lounge which features a welcoming wood burner set in an inglenook surround, along with plenty of seating, a Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker. Heading through, the bright and fully equipped kitchen/diner is perfect for rustling up and enjoying your favourite family dishes. Heading up the narrow cottage-style stairs, the first floor offers a refreshing family bathroom and two light, spacious bedrooms: a cheerful king-size room, and a relaxing twin room which has an additional step leading up to it. Outside, the walled courtyard has patio furniture and makes a lovely spot for a secluded evening meal.
A bustling maritime village with a history going back to the age of Elizabeth I, Appledore has a maze of narrow lanes occupied by colourful cottages, galleries and antique shops. Appledore Quay sits by the mouth of the River Torridge as it flows into the River Taw and out to sea. There are plenty of great pubs, restaurants and cafes in Appledore and in the nearby towns and resorts of Instow, Bideford and Westward Ho!, all within 5.5 miles, with local attractions including Northam Burrows Country Park, Tapeley Park and The BIG Sheep, all within 6 miles.
