2-bedroom sea view property 1 min from the sea & SW Coast Path
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside!! Chalet Ho! is a modern, light and airy 2 bedroom property, sleeping up to 4 guests, with glorious sea views, a sunny deck, plenty of communal garden space and less than 1 minute to the promenade. Chalet Ho! is located at Golden Bay Holiday Park, Westward Ho! - a small, peaceful holiday park, on The South West Coast Path and just a 5 minute stroll along the promenade from the main buzz of Westward Ho!
As you enter Chalet Ho! you will find a spacious lounge featuring a wall of windows offering stunning views of the amazing beach at Westward Ho! and the large communal garden area. The lounge has a large, comfortable sofa, from which to relax and enjoy the view, a dining table with 4 chairs, a Smart TV and a coat/shoe rack.
There is a fully-fitted kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, microwave and kettle with crockery, cutlery, glassware and utensils - everything you need for a self-catering break.
Off the lounge is the bathroom, featuring a large walk-in shower, WC, wash-basin and storage cupboard.
There are 2 bedrooms - the master offers a king size bed and 2 bedside cupboards and lamps. The bed can be split into 2 slim single beds (2ft 6in x 6ft 3in) if required. The 2nd bedroom offers 2 full single beds which can be zipped together to form a super-king size bed and 1 bedside cupboards with lamps.
Outside Chalet Ho! you will find a spacious deck with 2 armchairs, a sofa and coffee table as well as a dining table and 4 chairs, from which you can soak up the sun, take in the view and enjoy some al-fresco dining!
Chalet Ho! is less than a minute's walk to the promenade/sea front, where you will find yourself on the South West Coast Path (more on that later) and close to the Sea Pool - an open air, saltwater pool, built amongst the rocks.
Westward Ho! itself was created as a holiday resort in 1856. The main draw to The Ho! was the same then as it is now... the Atlantic Ocean. The Victorians used to travel miles, taking days just to dip in the waters at Westward Ho! - it was reported to have many health benefits. What better way than in an open water rock sea pool? So they created one. The sea pool was refurbished in 2015 and can be enjoyed year-round for free!
Golden Bay Holiday Park is a small, peaceful park, consisting of mostly privately-owned chalets. The chalets share large lawned areas and there is a small play area for young children. There is a reception building with tourist information leaflets and a launderette up by the entrance and car park. There is parking for one car for guests of Chalet Ho! in the car park and additional spaces on Merley Road or Sandy Lane (both free). It is a short walk to the chalet.
There is so much to see and do in Westward Ho! itself and beyond. For those who love walking, Chalet Ho! is moments away from The South West Coast Path. It is an 11 mile challenging, hilly walk to the beautiful harbour-village of Clovelly with its famous steep pedestrian-only cobbled street. In the opposite direction, it is an 8 mile walk to Instow via Bideford.
For water sports enthusiasts, there are several surf shops in the Ho! offering surfing, windsurfing, kite-surfing and SUP lessons.
For those with children, Westward Ho! is the perfect bucket-and-spade holiday destination. The beach is vast! When the tide is out (and it goes OUT!) the sand stretches for ages and the most amazing rock formations are revealed - offering the best rock-pooling ever! There are 2 main arcades with plenty of childrens games and a go-kart track and crazy golf. Further afield, The Milky Way is a 15 minute drive - a small theme park perfect for kids up to 10 years old with indoor and outdoor activities. The North Devon Wake Park is next to The Milky Way and offers 2 lakes for wakeboarding, 1 lake for open water swimming and a giant inflatable assault course!
Please note that, sadly, pets are not allowed at Golden Bay. Please also note you will need to provide your own towels.
I offer discounts for stays of 7 days or longer. Don't be afraid to message me for the best possible rate! I will always price-match! Thanks.

Thank you Catherine. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Kate
Chalet had everything we needed for our short stay... it was only a couple of minutes to the sea, site was very quiet. The host was very helpful & we were able to check in early & leave later if we needed. Hope to return sometime.
Chalet Ho is well equipped with everything you need, it's comfortable, in a peaceful location and a few steps from the shore, cafes, restaurants and shops. Kate the host, ensures you have all the information you need before you arrive, is helpful in providing local information and replied quickly to messages.
We had a comfortable, relaxing stay and would return.
I stayed out of season with my 2 kids, was really lovely. Chalet was nice and clean, Kate was really helpful. Great view sat outside. 2 minutes to walk down to promenade. Fabulous views really beautiful place
In a good location, everyrhing you need is provided.
Property itself needs abit of tlc ie paintwork and round shower, couldmt close windows properly and thoughrougly cleaning abit more.
A great location, very close to the sea which you can hear at night with a window open. The holiday park is kept neat, tidy and clean.
The chalet is tidy and pretty clean, perhaps a bit of tlc required in the bathroom to get rid of mould spots. Great access to areas to visit.
We visited during term time, still a few people around who are very friendly.
There wasn’t a hairdryer at the property; I contacted the owner about this and we agreed for me to purchase one for which I was refunded. It’s now in the chalet for all to use. Great customer service. I’d stay again given the opportunity.
The location and property were fantastic and we would recommend it. However the bathroom needs some maintenance. There is mould around the base of the shower, we cleaned as much of it off as we could. The seals around the toilet and cupboards were tatty. The toilet brush needs to be replaced. The door needs a fresh coat of paint. The towel ring and toilet roll holder were rusty. The veranda was fantastic and we had a great stay but if I was the owner, I would want to give the bathroom some attention. If that was dealt with we would happily book again.

Great Location Poor Service
The Golden Bay holiday park is in a wonderful location, close to the sea and the town centre, and its very quiet, hard to beat anywhere else in Westward Ho! Early vibes had been poor. At 7pm before the day of our arrival I had to remind our “premier?” Host for some arrival instructions, which we received shortly afterwards with an apology and an instruction to bring towels (bath, beach, hand and tea), loo rolls, kitchen rolls, washing up liquid, hand soap and bin liners! We would also need to strip the beds before departure! Hardly the service one would expect from a premier host and had I known about this in advance I would not have made the booking and do not understand why Kate Giles is a premier host.

Dear Brian, thank you for reviewing your stay at my property. I believe "Premier Host" status is awarded to hosts with consistently good reviews, such as me. I am sorry you feel I am not worth that status. I take full responsibility for sending you my advance information somewhat late, for which I did apologise. Self-catering properties vary in what they do and do not provide and what the hosts expect from their guests. I have found it quite usual practice to be asked to strip the beds at places I've stayed and to bring my own towels... I would also expect to bring my own washing up equipment. Perhaps that's just me. Anyway, I'm glad once you were there, you enjoyed the cleanliness of the chalet, it's location and proximity to the sea and village centre. Kate

Disappointed
Beds were not actually single size they are smaller than a single in the twin bedroom ( so maybe that should be stated) yes you are quite correct it maybe is personal preference with mattresses.
*Bathroom floor was dirty when I wiped floor from having a shower.
* Bathroom door had all marks on it.
*blinds were very dirty and all bent
* doors in general with dirty especially front door
* tea spoons were very stained
*kitchen drainer was dirty .. pinky coloured slime.. I've cleaned that.
*windows grubby I noticed this when opening and closing.
*linen smelt stale
*furniture on decking rusty and full of cobwebs and also no cushions to use the sofa set
*towel and toilet roll holder rusty
*dining chairs dusty/dirty
However the sofa was comfortable and clean and the chalet is in great location.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Chalet Ho! Obviously, I am disappointed with your comments and feel some of them are a little on the picky side (stained tea spoons!). I was the last person to stay at my chalet – 2 days before your arrival and left it with minimal cleaning required, in my opinion. However, constructive criticism is always welcome and I will take on board the issues I feel are justified (venetian blinds bent/dirty – certainly not all but a few, dusty bathroom floor, marked doors and windows/frames, ‘stale’ bed linen – the single beds were not used during my stay so had been made up for some time and should have been aired, the superking bedding was brand new out of the pack and should have been washed before first use. Rust on decking dining chair frames – the chalet is so close to the sea that rust is inevitable - it doesn’t affect the comfort of the chairs but I will consider replacing them with plastic ones. I would have much more cause for concern had you mentioned issues such as food residue in the fridge, the microwave, on the hob or in the oven or dirty shower and toilet, bins etc as that would be most unpleasant to discover and unhygienic. However, as you didn’t mention any of those things, I assume they were cleaned to a satisfactory standard. Odd that you didn’t mention the grubby decking – now that does need jet-washing! (and will be done on my next visit). The single beds in the twin room are “slim singles – 2ft 6in” and this is stated in my online property description. The medium firm Healthopaedic cashmere pocket sprung/memory foam mattresses are less than 3 years old, are used for less than 6 months of the year and are… very comfortable. However, mattresses are a matter of personal preference. There are cushions for the decking sofa and chairs – stored in the cushion storage box/coffee table… on the decking! On a positive note, ¬¬¬I am pleased you found the sofa comfortable and enjoyed the location of my chalet. Renting a property is a two-way street and as a guest, you did not have the courtesy to strip the beds or empty the bins (as requested in the pre-arrival information sent to you). I enjoy (or did!) Premier Host status and 100% 5 star reviews so I will take yours with the pinch of sea salt it deserves!
Lovely chalet, clean and comfortable and only a short walk to sea pool, beach and restaurants. Kate allowed us to check in early and communication was great. My kids and I had a really nice break away. Would recommend!
Our family had a fantastic week in Chalet Ho! The communication with the owner was excellent and the property was exactly as described. Location was ideal for walking to the beach, Westward Ho! town and the costal path. Would not hesitate to book and stay again.
A gorgeous chalet in a prefect location. Everything you need right there
We were very happy with the chalet - I found it hard to leave as it’s gorgeous. We enjoyed the views, the decking, very comfy beds and everything we needed in the chalet. The view was fab and the proximity to the wonderful beach and facilities in Westward Ho! surpassed my expectations. We had a wonderful time and our host Kate was lovely and very helpful.
We stayed at Chalet Ho 35.
It was clean, spacious enough for a family of 3, comfy beds and very nice presented.
The owner was very helpful and the communication was lovely and very efficient.
We definitely recommend
Better than the pics, there is plenty of room for 4 (2 kids) with a large living area with lots of sofa real estate, plus decking furniture outside that must be brilliant in the summer - but April 2021 was very chilly. Such an easy check in, easy parking, key via a lockbox, good comms. Bathroom has on tap hot water and a big shower. Kitchen well equipped, ideal. Salt and Pepper provided, but all the utensils we need were there. A good x4 slice toaster, too....Fridge/Freezer/Cooker/utensils/teatowel. TV /internet available but slow. Some power sockets have USB which was really handy. The flat is in good nick and has a great seaside them. Westward ho is a good base, good waves, an artifical outdoor seawater 'swimming pool' (my mum learnt to swim in that pool as she comes from here) is out on the beach, and rockpools, walks, plus good fish and chips and a few bars/restaurants and plenty to do nearby and we'd definitely come back in the summer.
This is a lovely Chalet. Kate Giles the property owner was so helpful. It is furnished to a high standard and spotless. It is warm and snug and has fantastic views of the beach. We used this as a base for some amazing walks along the Devon coastal footpath and other beauty spots. The actual holiday park is lovely and clean and very well organised. Great spot highly recommend
A lovely, clean and stylish property exactly as shown in the photos. The view of the sea, from the decking, was better than I expected. Communication with owner was excellent, and Golden Bay seems a well run and friendly site, in a great location. We wouldn't hesitate to book Chalet Ho again. No negatives whatsoever - and trust me l'm really picky!
Not far from town and beach every thing you need maybe needs something to dry swimming thing in the sun
