Mosquito Gulch is home to a variety of wildlife and this spectacular location affords opportunities to observe elk, deer and foxes (just to name a few of the animals!) right on the property. Additionally, you may see moose in their natural habitat in the wetland area near the cabin.

The driveway is plowed in the winter and the roadways are maintained by the county, but FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES ARE REQUIRED from November through May due to the frequent snow storms in this area.

Park County is an activity center of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, it's a great "Base Camp!" If you can think of an outdoor activity, you will probably find it within 10-20 minutes of the cabin. Activities include skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain climbing, snow-shoeing, horseback riding (winter too!), ice climbing, fishing, hunting, rafting, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, mine exploration, canoeing, kayaking, and much much more. Whatever your favorite activities, you can be assured of a memorable and fun vacation when you stay at The Lodge at Flamingo Acres!

Sky High

Beautiful 'cabin' mansion in the mountains. The view was incrediable! The cabin was awesome. The lighting is a little tricky. Some switches were hard to find. It took a little getting used to the high altitude, we are from 550' and going to over 10,000' where there is thin air was an experience. We would have liked more snow, but no one can control mother nature.

Spring Break

The house has great views that pictures don’t do justice. We also saw a moose the first morning we woke up. Very quiet and remote and would stay again if in the area.

I could look at that view all-day everyday!

Our stay at the cabin was truly unforgettable! The property boasts breathtaking views and provides the perfect setting for a relaxing family getaway. It's ideal for anyone looking to recharge away from the hustle and bustle. While we thoroughly enjoyed our time, there were a few maintenance issues that could be addressed. Some of the light bulbs were out in the kitchen and master bedroom, which was a bit inconvenient. Additionally, there seemed to be a transition happening with the televisions; most had been removed, and we had to improvise with the cords from the small cabin to get one set up in the main area. This wasn't reflected in the listing photos, so it was a bit unexpected. One other minor issue was with the grill. Unfortunately, it didn't light up, possibly due to the cold weather affecting the gas pressure. It might be worth considering storing it in a warmer spot for future guests.Despite these small issues, I would still highly recommend this cabin for its stunning location and peaceful atmosphere. It's a perfect retreat for families or anyone seeking solitude amidst nature.

Private, Beautiful home and views, Lots of snow

My family wanted to see snow for our yearly family vacation. I knew our chances of seeing snow were greater with a higher altitude. This location did not disappoint. We visited from December 7th thru 13th. The drive to the home was breathtaking (not just because of the altitude). The snow had everything covered and was exactly what my little girl wanted. The road was long and winding. 4wd or equivalent was necessary. I also suggest arriving during daylight hours. Because of the snow, the driveways and ditches are hard to identify. The home is secluded in the woods with plenty of yard space to play in the snow. Entry was a breeze with great instructions from the host. The lodge is three stories. We are from Mississippi so climbing the stairs to the main bedroom on the 3rd floor was hard for me. I decided to sleep on the bottom floor. I personally thought these rooms were warmer too. The second floor did not disappoint with the huge picture windows. I sat in the living room and stared at the mountains for most of our down time. The fireplace was very interesting. We bought wood from the local grocery store in Fairplay. The fire did a great job keeping this level comfortable. The host left plenty of games in the closet for family time. We mostly played pool. This was my daughters first encounter with a pool table and she caught on quickly. The cabin was perfect. Although the views were better from the lodge, the cabin is cozier. We did not stay in the cabin. Perfect vaca.

A Spacious Home on Beautiful Property

Overall, my guests and I had an amazing experience at the lodge. There was plenty of room for 7 people and it has basically everything you would need to have a comfortable stay. The views are incredible looking out over the deck to Mt. Bross, Mt. Democrat, and Mt. Buckskin among others. The pool table was one of the highlights of our stay, but the pool cues could use some maintenance. The cabin stays very warm in the winter, especially when using the central fireplace. The hot tub was great, but it felt a little small with more than 2 people in it. There were a few minor issues we had, like the indoor speaker system being disabled, the bed pillows not having much cushion, and the dart board being plastic and difficult to use. The woods around the lodge are beautiful but it isn't clear where the property lines are so we didn't venture too far in the snow. I would definitely come back here, but I also think some small upgrades would go a long way to making this place perfect.

Relaxing birthday weekend

We gathered from four different parts of the country to celebrate a milestone birthday. The location and view were spectacular and the property had a lot to offer. The owner quickly responded to any concerns we had. Check in and communication beforehand was very efficient. There are a few things that need to be updated in the cabin such as towels and some of the cookware, but overall you won’t be disappointed renting this cabin.

Loved the house and location. Almost everything was awesome. Minor complaint was weird wiring for house lights and several bulbs were out. Other than that small detail we enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

Family Trip

This was an amazing stay, with an even more amazing outcome. We stayed at the lodge for my 30th Birthday, but I also came out of the trip as an engaged man. The upper deck was the perfect place for my proposal with the mountain scenery in the background. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Even better than advertised.

We had an amazing time at The Lodge at Flamingo Acres! We were amazed at how well furnished everything was, especially the kitchen. The views are incredible and amenities like the pool table, hot tub and dart board were a lot of fun. Honestly I can't think of a negative thing to say. Not worth the money

I will start by saying that the cabin is beautiful until you get inside. There were hot wires laying on the floor and coming out of the walls. Not very ideal with kiddos in the house...... It was -22 outside and they kept turning the thermostat down to 67 at nighttime. We woke up freezing every morning. Kept messaging the host every morning and never got it resolved. The beds are as hard as a rock. There also aren't any tvs in the rooms other than the main living room. There are wires sticking out where the tvs should be though. The beds are as hard as a rock. Worst beds I have ever slept on. Also be prepared that there are no blinds on any of the windows, so you get woken up right as the sun comes up in the morning, especially if your a light sleeper. The cabin was absolutely disgusting. No clean blankets that were just thrown in the floor in the lower level closest. The appliances were filthy. Also should be a warning of how high of elevation that the cabin was at. Everyone was so sick due to being at such high elevation. If you've never been to Colorado you would never know or even think about that! They couldn't even leave firewood for the fire. Wouldn't stay here for the amount of money we paid.

We really enjoyed the house. The only issue was not all outside lights worked on the deck. We knew we were in high altitude but was not aware at how bad it would really effect you. But the house itself was great. They even cleaned the driveway within reasonable time of snow.
