Peaks Island

Sheila’s cottage was perfect. A wonderful location to stay on Peaks island. Quiet neighborhood and so close to the water. The cottage had everything we needed and then some. Sheila was responsive and easy to communicate with. We hope to stay again .

Perfect vacation

Everything was perfect. The house is really beautiful with everything we needed and very comfortable. There are 3 outdoor seating areas, the neighborhood is really quiet. Sheila was amazing. She responded quickly to all my questions, gave me a lot of advice and suggestions. We lost power due to a bad storm, she was quick to call to make sure we were ok and let me know where flashlight candles were. We brought our bikes which I'd recommend because it is a great way to explore the island. We brought food and snacks but the market is pretty well stocked. Everything is easy to get to. The sandy beach is a couple streets away. Our stay was simply amazing and we can't wait to go back. Thank you Sheila

Our Family Getaway

My husband and I have been coming to Peaks since before we were married and have stayed in many different spots. Now we have two young kids and this home was exactly what we needed. It was in a fantastic location! although you can not see the ocean you can always hear it. If you want to walk into town or to the school playground, no problem. If you want to bike the back shore it is around the corner. Shiela was very friendly and super organized. If I had any questions she answered quickly. The amenities in the home were perfect for any dinner you choose to have. The house is open and full of light. It was very clean and well maintained. Given that my children are young, the large semi-gated yard was fabulous. We will absolutely come back.

Great Location, at Seas the Moment

This property is in a great location for enjoying both Peaks Island back shore, and is close to the Ferry and Restaurants. It is a small cottage, recently updated in a perfect quiet setting. Excellent communication with the host also made it an enjoyable visit. :)

Wonderful stay!

Sheila's house provided a wonderful stay for my family. She was easy to communicate with and prompt to respond. The location of the house is perfect - walking distance to everything and in a quiet neighborhood. The house had everything we needed and had a well stocked kitchen for cooking and meal prep. The house was comfortable for lounging inside and outside. The yard was lovely! All in all, a really wonderful and pleasant stay. Thank you Sheila for letting us borrow your paradise!

Clean and charming cottage!

This cottage is in a great location on the Island, less than a 10 minute walk from the ferry port. It will easily house a family of 7 or 8, with bunks and pullout couches. Great porch and gazebo for outdoor family meals or parties. Uncluttered and not fussy, so you can relax. The host leaves all kinds of info for the area and she is super organized, with a fully equipped kitchen to eat-in. Would be excellent for wedding guests, a family getaway or a romantic weekend. I will go back for sure!!!

Beautiful Spot

We had a great week at this home. It was spacious and clean, and exactly what my family and I needed. We were able to book only a few days in advance due to last min change of travel plans. The cottage location is fantastic, on a small side street, close to the water in my favorite corner of the island. The covered porch is great, kitchen is well stocked and has plenty of items for cooking, and the big living room gets amazing light all day! Great stay.

Wonderful fabulous time at this Peaks home! We will be back next summer, relaxing, cozy, fun!

This is our third time at this Peaks Island cottage and we look forward to our return next summer. It's the perfect manageable size with a great comfy TV/reading/napping area with multiple sofas, roomy kitchen with everything you could need for making meals, comfortable bed and bunk beds (I've slept in both!) with good linens, and nice sized bathroom with great water pressure in shower. It's walkable to shopping and ferry, yard is good size for games, and house is super close to water and sandy beach. The porch is wonderful for dining al fresco and the pergola is shady and charming. We highly recommend this remarkably snug, light-filled, and pleasant Maine home! Also walk a block down to the regiment house and have drinks on the porch while overlooking the ocean. Stunning, memorable views.

Great beach getaway with the bonus of having Portland a short ferry ride away

I spent a week here alone last June because I was working to finish up a book, but I cannot wait to return with my husband and two children. The house is just a short walk from the ferry, and on a delightful quiet street. The house itself in really well stocked and in great condition. I wanted for nothing during the week I was there. Peaks is a small island but there is a lot to discover. I went on a couple of walks each day, always heading off in a different direction. I would always discover something new -- a cool beach, a new walking trail, or an interesting house -- and yet, I never felt that far from home. It was early in the season so the water was still cold but I did manage to go for a swim on my last day. The swimming beach on this side of the island is just gorgeous! I couldn't stop taking photos. And if you're not a swimmer there's plenty to do -- the island is great for bike rides and there's a nice tennis club too. I am looking forward to bringing my kids back because its the kind of place where you can give them independence and yet always know they are never too far from home. There's a great little cafe for coffee in the morning, an Inn that sometimes has live music, an ice cream and souvenir shop -- everything you need without being too commercial. And I cant forget to add that Portland is a short ferry ride away. I went into town twice to meet friends for dinner and it couldn't have been easier. As I write this, I'm missing Peaks more and more and am off to go check to see what weeks are still available! You'll love it!

Our family has enjoyed Maine and Peaks Island for years, coming up from Maryland for parts of the summer since the kids were young. Maine is the source of many great family memories!

Why they chose this property

We rented this house several times in the past and loved it - both the house and the location. We were delighted to have the opportunity to own it a couple years ago and appreciate how easy it is to get there.

What makes this property unique

A quiet neighborhood, just a short walk to ferry/groceries as well as Sandy Beach and the backshore. I love our location!
