Bright and contemporary apartment, located in the heart of the beautiful village of Hathersage, the perfect base for exploring the stunning Peak District National Park. The Peak District is heaven for walkers, climbers and cyclists as well as anyone wanting a relaxing break.

There are stunning walks from the doorstep as well as fantastic cafes, pubs and restaurants in the village. The apartment is a few hundred metres from pubs and restaurants. A great location but quiet during the evenings. Hathersage outdoor swimming pool is just 200 metres away with views of the surrounding peaks. The pool is heated all year round - fantastic during Autumn Winter as well as the Summer months. Some of the best caves and caverns in the country can be explored from nearby Castleton. Great apartment for couples and families with lots of activities for children nearby. You can easily leave the car in the car park for the duration of your stay.

The stately homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are easily accessible and the regular programme of events at Chatsworth are a highlight. Peak Caverns have a great programme of concerts and events within the nearby caves. The charming villages of Edale, Castleton, Bakewell and Eyam in close proximity.

The apartment is located at 1 Main Road, Hathersage and has been recently refurbished to a high standard. There is reserved parking for one vehicle.

The newly installed contemporary kitchen includes everything you need for your stay with new appliances including dishwasher, microwave, washer dryer, fridge freezer, oven and instant boiling water tap. Perfect for cooking up a storm after a day’s walking or sight seeing.

The sitting/dining room has a vaulted ceiling and views of the surrounding hills. There is a new sprung double sofa bed, smart television, plus playstation 4 with a wide range of blu rays. The dining table seats four.

The bedroom also features views of the peaks, with a smart TV bed (the TV pops up from the end of the bed by remote control. There is also an additional sofa bed in the bedroom. The apartment is perfect for a couple or young family and would suit a group of friends, it can sleep 4 comfortably and 5 if you’re a young family with children.

The newly installed bathroom features a bath with overhead shower, handbasin and wc.

The apartment is set up for children of all ages and there are lots of great activities for kids nearby. For younger children there are playgrounds in Hathersage and nearby Bamford, Gulliver's Kingdom is a 30m drive away and the Hathersage outdoor pool is 200 metres away from the apartment. Chatsworth children's farm and adventure playground are always a big hit. Kids of all ages will be fascinated by the best show caverns in the country in Castleton (10 minutes away). There are numerous easy cycle trails where you can hire bikes and toddler trailers i.e. Tissington trails (35mins) and Monsal Trail (20mins) For older children Alton Towers, the UK's biggest theme park, is less than an hour away and a there are a myriad of outdoor pursuits such as caving, climbing, cycle hire and watersports at Carsington Water. Lots of options in the event of wet weather too. If you'd like inspiration, the owner would be delighted to share ideas with you.

Hathersage is well serviced by road and rail, with Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield an easy day trip.

Our stay at Morton Loft was delightful. The accomodation was bright, cosy, very clean and tastefully decorated and furnished. The accomodation had all that you would need during your stay and was situated in the village a short walk to Hathersage swimming pool. Andrea offfered infirmation regarding places to eat and visit. She was very approachable and when contacted for advice, responded immediately. I am sure you will enjoy your stay as much as we did.

I have been coming to the Peak District since childhood and it has been a tranquil haven, away from a career in the City. My family and I moved from London to bring up our two boys near the Peak District, with all the freedom, views, walks and fantastic activities it affords. Given we have spent time here over the years, before children, as a young family and now with pre- teens, I have equipped the apartment with everything we would have wanted for a calming, luxurious break. I'd love you to make the most of your time in the Peaks and am on hand with local knowledge to advise you on ideas from family trips, the best walks for a particular season or ability, to wet weather activities. My husband and I are both professionals, and together with our boys Max and Sebastian,, we love nothing more than spending time in the Peaks. With the advent of Covid 19, we have been truly blessed to live in such a spectacular National Park and we are delighted to share our experience of such a beautiful location.

Why they chose this property

I bought Morton Loft in March 2021 and have enjoyed painstakingly refurbishing it to an exceptional standard. Everything is brand new with newly installed, kitchen, bathroom and flooring, new contemporary furniture and it has been freshly decorated. The apartment is charming and cosy with some beautiful original features, it is also spacious and flooded with natural light. It is a perfect year round base for your stay, being located at the very heart of Hathersage. More spacious than a hotel room, with a newly installed high spec kitchen and a new bathroom. Perfect for suitable couples, families and small groups of friends.
