The House is located in Árnes, only 5 min drive from the house you are in Árnes, where you can find Gas Station, mini market and shop, there is also a small and cosy swimming pool and a soccer field. In Árnes you can find Þjórsárstofa visiting center for tourists where you can find information about the area. From Árnes you can drive further and find one of the most beautiful places in Iceland, Gjáin. You can also find waterfalls Hjálparfoss , Háifoss and Granni , Háifoss height is 122m and is the fourth highest waterfall in Iceland.
Town Flúðir is only 10 min away, where you can find Secret Lagoon, swimming pool, small grocery store, and Vínbúð ( liquor store ). Town Reykholt is also close by, there you have the popular tomato farm Friðheimar ( one of the most popular place to go on the golden circle ). Farm Efstidalur is also not far away, there is a nice restaurant and homemade made ice cream. Laugavatn is also not far away, there you have Fontana ( sauna place ). And of course the highlight of the Golden Circle Gullfoss and Geysir is close by. It's a great place in the Icelandic countryside.
Our house has 3 bedrooms, each bedroom has a Double bed ( 140x200 cm ). Then we have 2 foldable single beds ( 90x200cm ) that can be placed in the bedrooms ( one per bedroom ) or in the living room. We have two bathrooms, both with nice showers and the bathroom next to the master bedroom has an infrared Sauna. Kitchen is fully loaded with everything you need.
Outside we have Hot Pot / Jazzuci.
In the living room we have a fireplace, it's NOT a normal fireplace where you burn wood .. it's not used to heat the house, the house is heated with hot water that runs in the floors. The fireplace is a gas fireplace but it's not working at the moment after one of our guests damaged it. Instead you can use the Tenderflame unit that we have ( see picture ) and you can light candles to have a cosy evening in the living room ( see picture )
During winter time it's a good location to see the Aurora / Northern lights ( if the weather condition is right ), you can see two pictures of the Aurora lights, taken outside the house by one of our guests.
We have a baby crib and high chair for your children.
We provide linen, towels and soap etc.
We manage over 100 properties here in Iceland, most of them in the Reykjavik area and also few outside of Reykjavik. Please let us know if you would like to split your stay, some nights in Reykjavik and some outside of Reykjavik. We also offer long term renting.

Everything was excellent and exactly as described in the write up. We enjoyed the house immensely for our girls trip. These pictures of the northern lights were taken behind the house!
My wife and 5 year old and I enjoyed our 3 nights, the hot tub outside was nice and the place felt like home, the owner was responsive and helpful, and it was a good drivable base for day excursions. It was a nice stay, and good house layout.
This property was a great location allowing us to visit all the sites within driving distance each day. The house was very cute and well maintained. Nice quiet location with a view. Definitely recommend staying for week.
This home has comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, amazing views, and an easy to use hot tub! Clean space and loved the warm floors with the radiant heat!
Our first time in Iceland was amazing because Kjartan made the entire process seamless — even after we requested to stay at one of his other properties!! So happy with our stay, we will definitely be booking again with Kjartan!
Nice location and private. Kitchen has too many junky utensils and was disorganized. The closets were filled with the owners personal effects. Wish they were locked away.

We had a great holiday and would recommend it at any time. On 2 evenings we even saw the northern lights. Thanks for the new memories and best regards
Perfect location for exploring Golden Circle & South Coast … with a small grocery store 15 minutes away! Property was very clean with well stocked kitchen. Unfortunately we were so busy we didn’t have time to enjoy the hot tub or sauna. Communication with host was fantastic … including a wonderful packet with great local information prior to the stay!
Lovely, quiet house, with friendly horses down the road! Easy check-in and very responsive host. Expansive views from the house and relatively short drives to various waterfalls and hikes nearby. Great kitchen; had everything we needed for cooking. Loved the hot pot outside too! Hope to return!
This was the perfect home base for my husband and I while we spent time im South Iceland. The location perfectly balanced our desire for privacy/seclusion while still being writhing reasonable driving distance to stops on the Golden Circle and great food in Selfoss. The hot tub was a perfect way to relax at the end of the day. We were also very blessed to see a spectacular showing of the Northern Lights on our first night.
The location was absolutely amazing, it’s location is perfect for if you want to do golden circle; or south coast. All information was provided by host in email. Answered all questions I had, the inside of the house was beautiful. Tons of amenities provided. We enjoyed our stay and got lucky to catch a beautiful northern lights show on our last day thanks to this property being where it was. Will be returning to this property when we come back.
The property had everything we could’ve asked for. The hot tub was heated and ready to go. The sauna was able to be easily used and enjoyed. The beds were primo. Clean up with Simple. Communication was simple a little difficult to find but once we found it, it was easy for us to continue in and out trips. Would be very willing to stay here again.
We stayed a week at this lovely house. There were four of us - two couples. Everything about the house was as described. It was well equipped, clean, in a great location, and lovely inside and out. We took advantage of the hot tub and sauna after our daily adventures in the South of Iceland. There was lots of room, a well laid-out kitchen with all of the kitchen items we needed to cook each night. The water was hot, heating was constant and wonderful and it was great to have 2 separate bathrooms as either side of the house. The washer and dryer were as added bonus. We had such a lovely time in Iceland and staying in this wonderful house and being able to cook for ourselves added so much to out trip. And...best of all, we got to see the Northern Lights in a setting with very little ambient light, right from our doorstep. It was a sight that none of us will ever forget.

Great base camp to explore the Golden Circle area
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The host/property manager was responsive and friendly. The circuit break tripped at 10:00 pm one evening and he graciously walked me through by video call to find and reset the breaker. The house itself shows a little bit of age, but otherwise it's very nice and cosy. It has pretty much everything you need to enjoy time with family. The location is perfect for exploring the Golden Circle area. Rent a 4x4 so you can do the less crowded hiking trails accessible via the many F-roads. Our favorite was Haifoss, but there are many more. Selfoss has a couple of larger grocery stores which you should visit before arriving at the house, but there's a smaller grocery store near by in Flúðir that has the essentials.
The location was excellent and iceland was amazing. Had trouble communicating and felt some things needed more instructions (hot tub,tv,thermostat etc. Coming from where we are from things were a little trial and error. Response were not quick especially if had real emergency. Things that need to be addressed is water pressure in one bathroom and many light bulbs throughout home. Im not bashing at all. Just honest feedback. Our stay was great and place was in a great spot for us to get to everything on our list.
This was an 8 day stay and our goal was to hike and see the wonders of natural Iceland. Here's what we loved about this place:
Location! – best in all of Iceland – we hit gaifoss, landmannalugar, glymur, vic, glacier lagoon, and 5 more amazing canyons and falls – you could travel 15 minutes or 4 hours for amazing hikes. The drives are really nothing because they are in the most beautiful countryside in the world and the sun never set for us. Close for groceries (5 minutes for quick items and 30 minutes for a Kronan store)
Modern kitchen – great cooktop and fridge and dishwasher
Beds – very comfortable, best nights of sleep ever, bring a really good eye covering
Windows – beautiful view of three volcanoes every day and night
Quiet and Private – good sense of being alone (with horses)
Bathrooms – modern, spacious and clean, heating rack for towels, big showers,
We will be coming back.
The house is about 30 minutes drive from Selfoss away. Already on arrival we thought, how great the landscape around the house is. Located in the middle of nature, very quiet and nice horses as neighbors. It was very clean, well equipped and perfect for self-catering. In addition, all major attractions (such as Geysir, Gullfoss, National Park Þingvellir) are not far away. The contact with Kjartan was very nice and he gave us good tips for our stay in Iceland regarding excursion tips and shopping possibilities. The information how we find the house and get the key out of the box were also very good. I would recommend this cute house to anyone who also tries to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. We were very lucky with the weather and could enjoy this unique sight. This will definitely not be our last trip to Iceland! :)
