Visit No 03

This was our 3rd visit with a 4th already booked and probably many more after that. A quick glance through the reviews will tell you everything you need to know about this fantastic accommodation. It really does have everything you need - the house, hot tub, views, wildlife, walks and Plockton on your doorstep. The only thing missing was a trout from the loch - but that was down to a lack of skill! Can't wait to return next year.

Wonderful stay at the Sheiling

We had a wonderful stay at The Sheiling. The owners have thought of everything with all sorts of nice touches - even training the local wildlife to come for daily visits. Highly recommend this property.

Third visit in as many years

Once again we had a great week's holiday at The Sheiling. We love the location and the peaceful setting for the property. Between eating out, barbequing or relaxing in the hot tub it's ideal.

A heavenly weekend

Everything about the Sheiling was perfect, the setting alone is enough to make it a five star property but the design and presentation of the lodge as well as the thoughtful touches provided by the hosts make it unforgettable, we will certainly visit again.

Beautiful accommodation and setting. Unfortunately midges got in the way of enjoying the outside space, we would definitely return but will book out with midge season!

Excellent stay in every way

We had an excellent stay at The Sheiling. The property is amazing - location is spectacular, everything about the property is really high-end, and ending each day in the hot tub with those views was just perfect. Lots to do in the surrounding area as well which is an added bonus. Highly recommended.

Fabulous location and property

The property is absolutely stunning and in a perfect location for exploring the region or simply staying put and relaxing. The property was very clean, and exceptionally presented. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of cutlery, crockery, pots, pans, dishes and glasses - all of which looked brand new and none of the crockery or glass was chipped. The oven and microwave were also spotless, and even the baking trays looked new. The inside of the property has been designed brilliantly, the views across the loch while relaxing in the living area were joyous. The bedrooms were almost a mirror image of each other, with large walk-in wardrobes and plenty of room in the chests of drawers, and the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were modern and a choice of shower heads was available. The hot tub was a delight, very easy to operate, and a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a wonderful view. The outside of the property has been very well thought out, and the chairs were very comfortable. The fire pit in the table was amazing and gave off a remarkable amount of heat taking the chill off a cool evening. The gas barbecue was stored away in the shed and was easy to wheel out and to use. There was also a rowing boat available to use, easily accessible from the small jetty next to the property and life jackets were provided, cleverly stored in a cupboard within the property. An abundance of wildlife surrounded the property; grebe, heron, buzzards, chaffinch, blackbirds, willow warblers, cuckoos… the birdsong was never ending. Pine martens visit the property regularly too - what a delight to witness these remarkable, rare animals up close. The single track road behind the property is rarely used and passing traffic is virtually nil. Overall, The Sheiling is a remarkable property, beautifully designed, with a glorious grass roof, a nature lovers paradise, and a view over the loch and surrounding woodland to die for! It is a piece of mindfulness and tranquility in which to immerse oneself and a glorious place to stay.

Stunning and unique holiday property

Online photos do not do The Sheiling justice, it is in a breathtaking location and the accommodation is first class. The use of the rowing boat and hot tub really do give this a unique edge. Hot tubs can be found at many properties, but not with that view!! Last but not least the building itself - so unusual and well designed. If you are seeking calm and tranquility, surrounded by nature and beautiful wildlife, whilst not compromising at all on comfort or exclusivity, this is the place for you!

Amazing Place

We had a wonderful time in this amazing location staying in accommodation which in our opinion was fantastic. The house is unique, spacious and very comfortable. The design maximises the idyllic location on the bank of Loch Lundie with views of the loch and surrounding hills. We particularly enjoyed walking to Plockton and around the nearby forest. It was great to relax in the hot tub and admire the scenery. Using the rowing boat to cross the loch was also memorable and fun. We were so impressed that we booked to return in 2026 whilst we were there.

Visit No 02

There’s a very good chance the title of this review will keep growing - this property is just that good. We’ve already booked visit number three! If there’s any downside, it’s that the place is becoming so popular it might soon be impossible to find an available week. It truly is that exceptional. This is five-star accommodation and then some. I doubt you’ll find anywhere else with the same breathtaking views or the high standard of comfort and finish. We can’t wait to return!

The Sheiling Review

Our third visit to The Sheiling. It was nice to meet Martin for the first time and indeed to fish with him on the boat Tenkara style. For those fly fishing, the loch try a bushy daddy longlegs pattern fished dry, or a black pennel fished wet. Also, troll a big dry fly from the back of the boat when rowing. This is truly a magical place in every aspect and needless to say we look forward to our 4th visit in the future. A huge thank you. Best Regards Peter & Carol from Durham

The Sheiling is In a class of its own

Everything about the Sheiling is just beautiful - the unique build, fantastic location and stylish and well equipped interior. Stunning views and peaceful location come as standard here. We loved taking the boat out for a picnic, and relaxing in the hot tub looking at the stars. This was our 2nd visit and we're already planning the 3rd.

Breathtaking hideaway

Very well equipped and surprising house in an idyllic setting. Very well located to discover the area as well as the Isle of Skye, though the silence on the lake may just keep you around the house to relax. End your days and watch the sunset in the hot tub with a superbe view on the lake.
