We very much enjoyed our stay! The space was just right for our needs and everything we might need was available. Appreciated the check-ins throughout our stay! Would definitely visit again!
We absolutely loved our stay. The property was cleaner and nicer than we expected. It had everything we needed to have a great stay. The setting is so serene, it is perfect for a group getaway!
6 adults stayed in this charming house. It was spacious and comfortable. It is not ideal for senior citizens as there is no powder room on the main floor. There are quite a few steps down to the river. The outdoor decks were great and the chairs by the riverside were also fun. It is a 30 minute walk to downtown or an easy 5 minute drive with plenty of free parking available. We had a wonderful stay!
We loved everything about Tonawanda and can't wait to return again soon! I rented this rustic spot for a girls getaway, and it was just perfect and incredibly unique.
The basics: the house was clean, check in and out was easy, our property manager was very responsive, the rooms were comfortable, the kitchen was spacious enough for us to spread out and hang out during meals, and the location was perfect. We were tucked away in a private location but an easy driving distance to Downtown Saugatuck & Douglas!
What makes this place special: the stunning location of the house nestled up with the trees, the unique design elements throughout the house and all of the rooms, the private dock in the backyard where you can see the boats go by, and the magical lighting. Can we talk about the lighting & magical energy in this house?! The floor to ceiling windows poured in with sunlight all day, and created the most beautiful atmosphere for me and my ladies to relax in. I miss it already. 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay in Saugatuck!
Nice location, but house is not up to date; bathrooms are difficult to use; and very weak Wi-Fi
Let me start with the positive to say that the location is convenient (easy to get to and from town) and the view is beautiful in the back. We enjoyed having our coffee and watching the boats go by every morning. The living room is spacious, which is nice for hanging out and chatting with friends. Sadly, the house requires updates throughout that would have allowed for a more pleasant stay. The Wi-Fi barely worked and we were not able to watch TV as a result. The bathrooms are outdated in design and therefore, not very practical for use. One of the showers was so small that you could barely move in it to clean yourself. The sinks in all 3 bathrooms are very low (especially in the upstairs one) and difficult to use. The two bedrooms upstairs are very small (basically only big enough for a bed), which is something to consider if traveling with adults. Furthermore, there are no A/C vents upstairs, only fans. The house has potential and offers some character. However, for what we paid, it was not a comfortable stay.
Realizing it is an old property there are a few detail items to address. The front door is nearly impossible to open, as it needs to be planed down so it will fit properly. The screen door closer going on to the deck needs a new, or adjusted closer, as it literally slams back on you when you push it open with serious intensity. In addition, there is virtually no view of the river, which is why we chose it. It is river bend , but there’s no open view to enjoy it. Trimming trees might be a challenge, but should be done.
Overall, we enjoyed it, but want to make suggestions that would enhance future visitors.
Rustic but comfortable, spacious but cozy. Nothing fancy. But completely suited our purpose of a gathering spot for scattered family. Near town, nice walks in any direction, near beaches, etc. make weekend reservations well ahead of time or plan on eating early or late. Recommend this location and this company.

Great time and we’d go back
My friends and I loved our stay here. It was a great place to go and a great getaway with a lot of community space, separate bedrooms for multiple couples, and beautiful views. The screened in porch was perfect for staying outside after the bugs came out. Coffee and breakfast was great on the outside porch. There were a few issues: the grill probably hasn’t been grilled for a while, the staircase down to the river is very steep (that’s understandable though), and a very small kitchen. That being said I’d go back and we really enjoyed out stay.

Truly perfect getaway!
River's Bend is incredible--even more so in person than in the photos. The location--a 5-8 minute drive from town--is spectacular, high above the Kalamazoo River, with private steps that take you down to the river and dock and Adirondack-style chairs set up for you. The house itself is an artistic beauty--kind of modern, craftsmen style. Our group of 4 girlfriends enjoyed lazy mornings sipping coffee in the large main room and kitchen and on the gorgeous deck, having slept so comfortably in a private beautiful bedroom for each of us. This place is HUGE! The management could not have been more responsive; when we arrived back at the place late on our first night there, we couldn't get the front door to open, Kristin from Bella Vista came out to personally help us--(punch in the code, then unlock the deadbolt, and then open the door!). If you want to enjoy the fun, arts, and delicious delights of the Saugatuck-Douglas area AND a relaxing retreat in the beautiful nature the area offers, River's Bend is the perfect vacation home!
