This is a wonderful new apartment that I’m dedicating to my daughter Allegra. It’s located right across from the entrance to the Pitti Palace, at Piazza Pitti No. 12, in the charming and famous Santo Spirito district—the beating heart of the city, with its museums, artisan shops, trattorias, charming shops. Nowhere else like this area—known as “l’Oltrarno”—can you truly experience the wonderful atmosphere the city offers as you stroll through its characteristic streets, discovering beautiful buildings, each one more stunning than the last. The apartment is located in Piazza de’ Pitti; the building dates back to the 1500s and is famous—a plaque on the facade commemorates the fact that the renowned architect Francesco Mazzei was born there and the poet Lucrezia Mazzei lived there until her death in 1832.
The apartment occupies the second floor, spanning over 155 square metres. The conservative restoration was designed to preserve the building’s heritage; the restored ceilings feature frescoes, the floors are oak, and the furnishings are high-quality, custom-made pieces. Very bright, with four windows overlooking Piazza de’ Pitti—positioned exactly in the centre—it enjoys a wonderful and exclusive unobstructed view of Palazzo Pitti. The apartment is located on a convenient second floor, accessible via wide, easy-to-climb stairs. The historic building is full of charm. The apartment consists of a large bedroom with a 200x200 cm bed equipped with a mattress topper, two sofas, and a large closet with a TV, as well as access to the veranda—a patio furnished with a small table and rattan armchairs overlooking the medieval courtyard. It features a charming veranda where you can enjoy breakfast while taking in the view—a very quiet and evocative setting. The bedroom has a nearby bathroom with a shower and an entrance leading to the spacious living area, which features a sofa, armchairs, and a lovely cherry wood table for romantic dinners—all framed by an amazing view through four windows. There is also a separate, beautiful kitchen and another bathroom with a shower. A comfortable home centrally located in a beautiful area, set within an ancient and peaceful medieval building. Our guests love this incredibly bright house with a breathtaking view of Palazzo Pitti; they love dining by candlelight while watching the magnificent play of light at sunset on the stone facade of the palace, which takes on a golden glow; they love the tranquility and silence of home; and they are delighted to enjoy such a beautiful experience in a frescoed, comfortable, and welcoming home. There is paid parking 300 metres away, while the taxi rank is right in front, as is the bus stop. Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi are a 5-minute walk away, and Palazzo Pitti is right across the street—everything is incredibly convenient.
From April to May, the facade of the house will undergo urgent maintenance work that cannot be postponed.
