About this property
Secluded & Cosy Yurt in the Forest of Dean
Everything you need for a peaceful stay right on the south east edge of the Forest of Dean. Cut into the hillside, the yurt has an extremely comfortable double bed and a pull out sofa double bed, with clean wood flooring and upcycled furniture. A wood burner provides heat on chilly nights. You have sole use of a modern rustic shower room and flushing loo, kitchenette with all of the essentials, outdoor eating shelter, and campfire area.
We love it here, and we hope you will too.
The space
The yurt is built into a steep hillside on a raised decking platform between the trees, with steps up to the door and views of rolling countryside.
A modern bathroom with hot water, shower, and flushing loo are 20 meters from the yurt, which is private for your sole use for the duration of your stay (as are all of the facilities described here). The small kitchenette also has a washing up sink, hot water, a kettle, toaster, and kitchen essentials. There is an outdoor cooking area with a campfire grill for BBQ or campfire cooking, and a separate covered seating area with a camping electric oven and hob.
The yurt is situated in a private corner of an old Forest smallholding, a three quarter acre site, and is completely self contained and private as you cannot see our house from the yurt and the facilities are yours alone, and is not overlooked by any other properties. We are happy for guests to use the garden and feel at home while being safely socially distanced.
Guest access
You will have a dedicated parking space a short walk from the yurt (approx 40 meters along uneven hillside paths), and there is a large garden area to enjoy.
We are in a quiet hamlet a mile from the nearest village, and from the yurt you can walk directly on forestry tracks into the Forest of Dean. All the forest has to offer is a walk or short drive away.
The bus stops anywhere you flag it down at the bottom of the hill (2 minute walk from the yurt).
Other things to note
We welcome guests bringing their own bedding for environmental reasons, but if you'd like bedding just let us know when booking and we can provide that.
COVID Security
We will be operating a socially distanced check in or self check in. You will have your own parking bay for one car with separate gate, and guest areas are completely private to you for the duration of your stay. Sanitising hand wash, sanitising spray, and cleaning cloths will be available in the kitchen and bathroom areas.
For safety, we ask that guests do not go into the storage sheds or fenced vegetable garden.
Hilly site
The yurt is on a steep hillside. There are steps into the yurt and please be aware that the terrain may be challenging if you have difficulty getting around.
Access by car is on a steep forestry track.
Autumn/Winter
The yurt is very cosy with the woodburner on but it is outside, and it is a yurt! You will need to venture out to walk to the bathroom or use the cooking facilities.

Frequently asked questions
About the host
Hosted by DEBBORA HALL

We love the forest and nature, and try to live as sustainably and creatively as possible. Everything we have built around the yurt has used upcycled or recycled materials where we possibly can, with attention to detail and beauty. We have chickens on site who may pop over to say hello, let us know if you'd like some eggs!
Why they chose this property
There is something special about a yurt; the closeness to the outdoors (like camping) but the comfort of a warm structure with real furniture. With light fading and growing naturally through the skylight but no other windows, there is a real sense of privacy and peace.
What makes this property unique
Relaxing and calm yet close to transport links and only a 45 minute drive from Bristol / 30 minutes from Gloucester.
