Spacious Eco, Pet Friendly Apartments, Forest of Dean, Wye Valley

Located on a 20 acre farm and holiday estate near Lydney, nestled between the River Severn and the stunning Royal Forest of Dean. One of four chalet/bungalow style apartments (Rosy Lea, Cherry Blossom, Perry Pear, Robins Nest). These spacious apartments are terrace with separate entrances and patios. One apartment has disabled access (Perry Pear. Please check availability of the disabled apartment before booking). Rosy Lea consists of two bedrooms (1 Double room and 1 Twin room), a spacious open plan living room with kitchen and dining area. The kitchen includes gas oven, fridge (with small freezer section), microwave, cooker, toaster, kettle and tea making facilities. Each chalet has a fenced patio area with outdoor seating. In front of the terrace our visitors have access to a large field, gravel path walks around the property and beautiful licensed fishing lakes - Ideal for walking the dog. We have two enclosed (fenced) areas for off lead dog exercise and a doggy dip. There is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy a leisurely barbecue or picnic. We have lovely views across a valley and surrounding grazing and farmland. Day tickets can be booked for fishing on our lakes whilst onsite. There is ample parking. This is a pet paradise, from the onsite dog friendly facilities to the nearby Forest of Dean with its miles of footpaths, lakes and cycle paths (just a short drive away) . We are a one mile drive from Lydney with its restaurants, shops, supermarkets, banks, parks, gyms, indoor pool. In the summer months there is also an outdoor pool. So many tourist attractions, sports and activities are within a 15 minute drive - Miniature Railway, Arboretum, Sculpture Trails, Castles, Tintern Abbey, Go Ape, Puzzlewood, Caves, Butterfly Zoo, Maze, Water Sports, Canoeing, Diving, Zip wire.

This small holding is home to the Dodson Family and includes four holiday apartments, a campsite, showground and indoor events arena (Forest Oak Barn). Both the indoor venue and show ground are available to hire and used for events. Long stays available upon request from Forest Oak Farm.

If we are not around please lock up the apartment and pop the keys through the reception letter box.

Laundry bags will be left in the apartment for used bedding and towels.

Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

This apartment was excellently equipped, clean and spacious. Great outdoor spaces, lakes and a lovely enclosed patio outside of apartment with garden table and chairs. Easy check in. Fabulously dog friendly. Would definitely recommend.

It was a very clean property and a beautifully kept farm. The crockery and utensils available in the kitchen were limited but sufficient if you are eating out. The beds were very comfortable and clean with good closet space. It has lovely walks for the dog as well as safe exercise areas. Shops were just,a mile away. Our stay was impacted by the extremely hot weather until we figured out how to keep the lounge cool since the sun shone into it from morning until sunset. A large patio area was great for us and the dog, however, it became too hot because of the sunshine. The family were very friendly and we would be happy to stay there again.

A friendly welcome from our host. Great communication beforehand too.The property is as described with lovely views from the large patio windows. All the rooms are spacious and the lodge was very warm and spotlessly clean.We had a great stay.

Booked the eco lodge for my partners 40th. It was us, our 13yo and our working cocker spaniel. We had a brilliant time, cabin was clean, had everything we needed. It was so peaceful, so really nice to relax and unwind. Only thing I can pick it, which really isnt all that bad, but as someone who suffers with my back, the mattress was a little too soft, but that’s neither here nor there. Two separate enclosed areas to walk our dog and let him have a good run. Plus really enjoyed just walking the grounds and taking the scenery in. Will 100% be looking to come back. Highly recommend.

The Dodson family are a hard working and welcoming family. Michelle, Steve and Carole all live in the Farmhouse with their much loved menagerie of dogs, cats, duck, chickens and ponies.

Why they chose this property

The Dodson Family brought this property as a run down small holding in desperate need of attention. It was essentially one big scrap heap, with many environmental enforcement notices against it. The site was very badly damaged and neglected - but the family saw through that and believed with hard work they could bring it back to its former glory. They have spent many years and hours breathing new life into this now stunning site. They are delighted to be able to share the fruits of their labour with you and show you what they have achieved!

The site is home to holiday apartments, a campsite, fishing lakes, a dog training school and an events venue - all dog friendly. So this is especially an ideal site if you are looking for a dog friendly place to stay.

What makes this property unique

The apartments are set on a private property with plenty of outdoor space for walking and relaxing. Set in 20 acres for walking the dog with fenced dog exercise areas and also private fishing lakes.
