Perfect for a family escape or precious time spent with friends, it’s a place where the pace slows, the air feels fresher and the surrounding countryside offers a calm that is instantly restorative.

Inside, Grade II-listed Myrtle Cottage is brimming to its beams with character, offering a glimpse into its 250-year history. The living room, with its beautiful wood-panelled walls and a crackling wood-burning stove, is a cosy retreat after a busy day exploring the region’s ancient forests.

The kitchen, full of rustic charm, sits at the heart of the home and is the perfect place for hearty breakfasts before setting out or leisurely indulgent dinners. Upstairs, the bedrooms are elegant and restful, each with lovely king-size beds and thoughtful touches.

Outside, a garden with fantastic views invites you to relax and watch the changing light over the hills. The outdoor dining area is perfectly placed to enjoy an al fresco feast together on a summer’s evening. From the doorstep are numerous scenic walks, such as the Wysis Way, leading through picturesque woodlands and open countryside, while nearby villages and cosy pubs promise plenty to explore and enjoy.

With its beamed ceiling and flagstone floor, this beautiful country kitchen is a lovely place to spend time together. Thoughtfully equipped with oven and hob, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, dishwasher and washing machine, you'll have everything you need for a wonderful stay. To the rear of the kitchen, a handy pantry area offers extra cupboard storage and further worktop space, along with a coffee machine and wine fridge. The pantry also features the property's original bread oven, dating back to the mid-17th century, which would have served the original occupants' with fresh bread each morning!

Dining Area
Just a step down from the kitchen, the dining room has a rustic charm all of its own. Whitewashed stone walls, sturdy wooden chairs, and a solid timber table set the scene for long, laughter-filled meals. A small bookcase offers a selection of reads for relaxed afternoons.

Sitting Room
A room made for cosy evenings, the sitting room pairs soft furnishings with the gentle flicker of the wood-burning stove. The panelled walls and beamed ceiling bring character in abundance, while the bay window fills the space with daylight and offers glimpses of the hills beyond. It’s an inviting space to curl up with a book, play a board game, or simply unwind by the fire after a day of exploring the forests.

Outside, a gentle slope leads up the hill beside the cottage to a gravelled terrace, where a dining table for four makes the perfect spot for unhurried breakfasts, long lunches, or evening drinks with breathtaking views across the rolling fields and hills. From here, guests can step straight into the fields behind the cottage, perfect for a peaceful stroll or simply soaking up the beauty of the surrounding countryside.

Points of Note:
Two well-behaved dogs are permitted for an additional fee of £47 per dog. This fee is not included in the rental price. Please advise us at the time of booking if you are bringing a dog/s and you will be sent a request for the additional fee.
The garden is not fully closed so please keep dogs and children supervised whilst outside.
Please note, the ceiling in the kitchen/dining room is particularly low, so this cottage may not be suitable for anyone over 6'2". 
There is an acre of paddock land belonging to the cottage behind the outdoor dining area which guests can use - please note this is not entirely securely fenced so owners will need to keep dogs on a lead.
