With its Visit Wales 5-star award, Hawthorn Lodge has been purpose-built to provide full wheelchair accessibility throughout, including the outdoor spaces. Every detail has been carefully considered, from the spacious wet rooms with walk-in showers to lowered light switches, a wheelchair-friendly dining table, and level access across the entire property. A shower wheelchair and shower stool are available on request. A range of mobility aids—including a mobile hoist, toilet frame, shower stool, suction grab rails, riser recliner chair, shower wheelchair, commode, and electric profiling bed—are available upon request directly with the owner prior to arrival, allowing the space to be tailored to individual needs.
Outside, the lodge is surrounded by a decked area that is level with all doorways, creating seamless access to the outdoor seating area and private hot tub. A ramp leads down to the enclosed lawned garden, ensuring the entire space can be enjoyed with ease.
The lodge offers generous accommodation for larger families or groups (please note, no stag or hen parties). Each bedroom features an oak-framed bed and an en-suite with a walk-in shower, while two bedrooms also include baths. The open-plan living, dining and kitchen space provides a sociable hub for spending time together, and the wood burner adds a cosy touch on cooler evenings. For additional comfort, each room benefits from individually controlled thermostatic heating.
Located 7½ miles west of Llandrindod Wells, known locally as ‘Landod’, the area has a rich history rooted in its natural spring waters, first used by the Romans and later developed by the Victorians. This heritage is celebrated each August when the town hosts a popular Dickensian-style festival.
Surrounded by outstanding natural beauty, the region is ideal for walking and fishing, with easy access to the Elan Valley and its dams, as well as the Brecon Beacons National Park. Nearby attractions include Rhayader with its red kite feeding station and crystal workshops; Builth Wells and the Royal Welsh Showground; Brecon with its jazz festival, cathedral and castle; the book town of Hay-on-Wye; Llanwrtyd Wells, famous for its unique sporting events; and Knighton, home to the Offa’s Dyke Centre. The nearest pub and restaurant are 5¾ miles away.
Hawthorn Lodge (UK42546) and Lime Lodge (UK42547) can be booked together to accommodate up to 16 guests.
