Bank Holiday Weekend at 'The Hive'

We enjoyed a lovely long weekend at 'The Hive'. The location, being right in the centre of town, with parking, is perfect. The house is very comfortable and has everything we needed. The only thing I would ask is that the kitchen is equipped with a couple of good, sharp knives. There is one very large knife that isn't particularly sharp. With a good butcher and greengrocer in town I'm sure lots of people like us cook in occasionally.

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay at The Hive and found the location and house so convenient. And thank you for the helpful feedback about the kitchen knives — we’ll definitely look into adding a couple of good, sharp ones. We really appreciate you taking the time to let us know!

Enjoyable

Very nice location and perfect for a short stay. Minor criticism the settee is very uncomfortable and one of the beds, the one without en-suite needs sorting as you roll into middle. Luckily I was not sleeping in it

Great holiday

A lovely place to stay and so near the sea. Our only disappointment was the lack of a microwave but otherwise it was just as advertised .

The Hive Oct '25

We have had a very pleasant, comfortable stay in the Hive (for our second visit this year). The living space and kitchen are a good size and well equipped; the beds are very comfortable. Parking behind the property can be a little challenging with a big vehicle. It's also in a good location in the centre of Emsworth whilst still being pretty quiet.

Lovely property

Lovely few days staying at the hive. Beautiful house, all decked out beautifully and to a high quality. Location great! Wonderful service from the agents who quickly rectified an issue with the beds. We’ll definitely be back again!

Long weekend

Lovely cottage in the centre of Emsworth with off road parking. Well equipped throughout but missing a hair dryer and an information pack.

Perfect location

A perfect location. Spacious accommodation. Unusual for a holiday let to have no information pack or any manuals for using appliances. A small niggle: the kettle either needs descaling or replacing. Water just dribbles out!

Overall very good

This property could not be better placed in Emsworth, very close to the village centre with some nice shops, pubs and a couple of higher end restaurants if pub food is not to your choosing. Despite being so close to the village centre it was very quiet at night and we slept very well in the enormous beds. Our dog loved staying in this property and there is a good dog walk within a few steps of the cottage. The only minor quibbles are that there was no can opener and there was no toilet paper to be found on arrival (surely an oversight!) but as I say plenty of shops so not beyond the wit of man to solve that problem.

Thank you for your lovely review! We're so glad you enjoyed the location and that you (and your dog!) had a comfortable stay. Those big beds really do make a difference! Apologies for the missing toilet paper—we do usually make sure there’s some left, so we’ll look into what happened. Hope to welcome you back to Emsworth soon!

Location was everything.

We stayed here in the summer. Such a great location we came back in winter. While upstairs was warm the underfloor heating downstairs did not work effectively despite the best efforts of the agent. It was very cold outside during our stay and it only warmed up inside when the sun shone through the windows. Two criticisms: the seating in the living area is not comfortable and no effort has been made to make the area feel cosy. Few ornaments and no pictures make the large room feel rather stark. The folding doors do not fit properly and added to the problem of keeping the large living room warm. We also found the back door impossible to open at times and ended up using only the front door. We hope the owners find a buyer soon. Despite our criticisms we enjoyed our stay because of the wonderful location.

Thank you so much for coming back and for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback. We’re really glad the location helped make your stay enjoyable, even with the challenges you experienced. We’re sorry the underfloor heating and doors caused discomfort during such cold weather — we appreciate your patience while the agent tried to help. Your comments about the living area and overall cosiness are very helpful, and we’ll make sure they’re passed on so improvements can be considered. Thanks again for staying with us, and we hope to welcome you back in warmer seasons!

Lovely Property in central Emsworth

Had a wonderful stay at the Hive which is located in central Emsworth. The location is 30 seconds from the town centre and access to the property was a breeze. Property is clearly recently refurbished and bathrooms are very nice and modern, as is the kitchen. Plenty of linen and beds were very comfortable. There were no major issues but the house wasn’t super clean and there were a couple of issues which would be good to know for future guests - no toilet roll was provided on arrival, just empty cardboard rolls, would be good if this was supplied as we arrived at 10pm at night and then had to go hunting for a supermarket. Secondly, a number of the items in the kitchen were dirty so had to wash up a number of items before use, this I can live with but a little frustrating when you arrive and lastly there is a lot of out of date items in the fridge and cupboards e.g olive oil was out of date by 6 months. All these elements together give me an impression the cleaners aren’t focusing on the details.

Thank you for your feedback! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the location and modern features of The Hive. We’re sorry to hear about the cleanliness issues and missing essentials—this isn’t the standard we aim for. We weren’t made aware of these concerns during your stay, but had we known, we would have rectified them immediately. We’ll be addressing this with our cleaning team to ensure a better experience for future guests. We really appreciate your input and hope to welcome you back for a smoother stay next time!
