We have stayed in many places in east portlemouth (we prefer this side of salcombe due to the beaches) and this was by far the poorest value for money. At over 3k for one week the house felt like one long corridor. The living room was small, the kitchen small with no cupboard space for our own food and the fridge some way away. The house was dated and equipment didn’t work…. the dishwasher useless, the oven door kept breaking and curtain poles coming off etc. Thank goodness the garden patio was large as it was the only place we could congregate as a family. Very disappointed and won’t be booking again.

Cottage is in a lovely location , very quiet. If you want to walk down to the beach to get the ferry boat to salcombe be warned that there are lots of steps and very steep. Cottage itself is very tired, doesn't fit 8 people in living room area, only big enough for 5 people unless you bring dining chairs in . Very odd layout in cottage . When we arrived we noticed things like dirty cutlery , dirty floorboards and handles broken on doors. Oven door glass is broke and dangerous. Windows in bedroom don't lock. Many other problems. No internet for 4 days. For the price it wasn't worth the money . The cottage needs the problems sorting before they allow guests to book. The Holiday company after complaining, did give me a small refund. But wouldn't use them again.

Good location but need to be fit!

We enjoyed a lovely stay in the house with family of all ages. Plenty of bedroom/ bathroom space with a good sized garden and great location. The location is stunning, but need to be aware there are 138 steep steps to get to beaches ( which are fabulous ) and boat to Salcombe! Not a problem with the house but the beach cafe is currently closed and for sale… limiting amount of local places to eat on East Portlemouth side of estuary. Ferry is easy to get to Salcombe And water taxis also available to get back later in evening. The kitchen and dining in the house is tight for 8 people. More details would be great in property info… ie WiFi password and we took 2 days to work out how to make the downstairs shower not freezing cold! The bbq was on its side in garden and didn’t look very usable, also mentions fire pit in book, but we didn’t even see one. Great house, but maybe needs a bit more attention pre letting.

A few tweets!

On first arrival the cottage was lovely; a bit quirky but looked as if it would meet our needs. However, considering the cottage slept quite at least 8 adults there wasn’t enough seating in the TV room to accommodate that many. The TV did not have BBC channels so we couldn’t watch Strictly on the Saturday! A smart TV would be better as many people have subscriptions to streaming services. Also the TV in the big bedroom but want connect by aerial; there was an aerial but it was too short to reach the TV! There were no mirrors in the bedrooms so we didn’t have anything to do make up or dry hair! The mirror in the shower room upstairs didn’t work and the towel rail was cold! We found the switch on our last day!

A large property in a beautiful location with enough bedroom space for 9 people with smaller family members in the bunk bed. Anybody with physical disabilities will find the many steps down to the beach difficult but perfect for a family with teenagers. Pros - The views are sensational and it is in a quiet, peaceful area. A fantastic garden with lots of space for dining, games and sunbathing (although no sun loungers) and good ability to keep on top of washing in utility room. Very short distance to the local beautiful beaches. A good beach cafe, farm shop and cafe and toilets close by. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking implements, we were glad we bought a huge saucepan to be able to cook for 9. A large fridge freezer was also very welcome. The kids loved the quirky layout of the house. This was a good family holiday with lots of beach fun with doggy in tow. Would highly recommend a trip to the pebble beach in Beesands and a meal at the cricket Inn. No smart TV was actually a good thing here and kept teenagers off devices.Cons - The property wasn’t particularly clean on arrival, dirty mugs under bed, a large amount of cobwebs and floors with lots of sand on. There were not enough instructions for appliances e.g. downstairs shower (has a booster in the kitchen cupboard) and the induction hob had to be googled. There were a few things that were not working quite correctly, the dishwasher doesn’t sit properly within the kitchen unit, the cooker door is unreliable an
