We are avid users of vacation home sites including listing our own VRBO rental in California (2011 - 2025). This property was very disappointing. While the description and photos sounded and looked good, the reality was far from it. Just getting from the street to the unit was depressing walking through an old and tired courtyard and staircase which was dark and dirty with floor tiles warped and broken. Once in the unit, it was evident that the space was worn and tired, particularly the floor whose surface was peeling. The place did not appear to be clean with some mold in the grout in the shower and other areas that just appeared dirty. The bed was OK, albeit small for two people, and the pillows were lumpy and very small. We tried the pull out couch, but that was even more uncomfortable and the springs were very squeaky with every slight movement. For the cost per day, I would expect much more - perhaps a 2nd bottle of water, some other nicety, like a chocolate or other food item. There was only one living room chair and little space to have our luggage open (we ended up using the dining room table!) There was no sponge in the sink and no drying rack. The TV did n't work very well. Overall, upon arrival, we were inclined to find another place, like a comparable hotel, but we would have lost our entire payment and there was nothing available at such a short notice. While this had nothing to do with the apartment or the host, we did happen to be right in the middle of the riots on October 17 with the protestors and police exchanging tear gas and flashbangs right below the windows. It made our stay all the more exciting.
