Beautiful custom built house on a private beautifully landscaped acre with 5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths plus wonderful outdoor shower. 3 levels of living.

Large heated salt water pool with spa and fire pit.

Convenient 10-minute walk to town passing the impressive and historic Main Street whaling mansions. Bike paths and Island-wide FREE shuttle bus stop are 1-minute walk from house.

First floor: The first floor has a large living room and connected kitchen with very high ceilings, crown moldings and hardwood floors. Walls of windows bring the outdoors in and allow view of the lovely yard. Living room has a fireplace and French doors that open on to massive summer porch with white wicker furniture, patio table and chairs, and gas grill. The large eat-in kitchen includes custom appliances and cabinets, granite counters and a cook island. The opening over the sink enables conversations with people in the living room while preparing meals. The first floor master suite has a king bed, sitting area with TV, private bathroom with 2 sinks, large shower and separate soaking tub.

At the side family entrance to the house is a warm/cold outdoor shower. Also on the first floor is a half bath and side-by-side commercial grade Maytag washer and dryer.

Second floor: The second floor has 3 large bedrooms- one with two twins beds and two bedrooms with queen beds. The bedrooms connect to a beautiful open landing with views to town. The bath on the second floor has a door that separates the sink area from the tub and lav.

Lower level: New large family room with cozy electric fireplace, 50" TV, comfortable seating and bathroom with shower and queen bed.. Room connects to playroom with ping pong table. Queen Murphy bed for extra guests.

Ample parking for 3 cars. HD Cable and ceiling fans are in every room.

Stunning property with great amenities

My family of 10 had a wonderful trip and a big part was due to the home where we stayed. Easy walk to town and even Jetties beach. The pool was used constantly! The porch is just lovely for morning coffee or evening conversation. Sharon was easy to reach and responded immediately to my questions about the area. I highly recommend an outdoor dinner at the big table surrounded by the beautiful landscaped yard.This trip was a big hit with my family and a memorable family stay.

Wonderful property and property owner!

Our family had an absolutely lovely stay at Blue Crab. The home was clean, warm and inviting. Correspondence with the owner was prompt and very helpful. We had an issue with cable and internet due to a recent storm, but those were resolved quickly by the owner and cable company. Home is well-appointed and well-located near town. Highly recommend!

Nantucket rental close to town

Nice home close to town (15-20 min walk). Quick drive to Cisco and Madaket. We were two families sharing the house, adequate room for all. Could use a little TLC, a bit worn, in need of new linens, and a new grill. It’s fine, but we like to cook and it wasn’t ideal. Reasonably priced. And owner was very kind. There are two other smaller homes on the property.

Misses the mark at this price point

Unfortunately, our experience at this property did not meet expectations. The listing misrepresented the number of bedrooms and bathrooms in the main house, which created immediate issues for our group given. While the owner attempted to make accommodations to help, they were far from ideal—we were given access to a “boat house” with recently varnished floors that still had a strong smell. The unit had not been cleaned, had a small bed and required us to set it up ourselves. The owner kept referring to her listing error of an additional king bed bedroom and an additional bathroom as an "honest mistake" in communications with her. She would consider a 5% refund in total reservation cost with a guarantee of a 5 star review or we would have to wait until the review window closed. We passed on this refund offer in order to share our honest experience with future renters.There was no mention in the listing that the property was shared with another guest house, which impacted our privacy and overall experience.The owner is upfront once your rent that the air conditioning couldn’t be set below 74 degrees. However, it's worth noting that a number of window screens have holes in them. You need be careful about which windows you keep open to avoid bugs. The heated pool was the highlight even though the motorized cover stopped working on day one. We’ve stayed at many rentals and value transparency and comfort—sadly, this property missed the mark on both.

I am responding to this review because I have never gotten a negative review before and I would like to add some clarity. The boat house is a full building with a kitchen, living area and bath. It has a queen sized Murphy bed which of course needs to be pulled out. I offered it for free and if it were not "cleaned", our contract says you should let me know day 1 so that can be corrected. The bed is Temperpedic and fine for 2 people. But it must have seemed small because of the size of the person staying there at 6'6" and 320 lbs. When I added an extra king sized bed to my listing last year, somehow a third one was added by mistake. This has been corrected and I tried to make amends with the renter. No one else haas ever noticed. The listing is now corrected and accurate.

Visiting for the wine festival

We stayed in the main house which is beautiful and very well appointed. It did not lack for anything. We walked into town every day, which took about 15-20 min and was a lovely walk. Sharon is very nice and was very accommodating and responsive throughout the entire process. Definitely recommend and would stay again!

September wedding

I hosted family members for my son’s wedding in this delightful house. It was very private and quiet with a beautiful yard. Loved drinking our morning coffee on the back porch. The scenic walk to town was about 15 minutes. A bus shuttle at the end of the road allowed everyone to make there own plans! The kitchen is very well equipped.

Walk to town comfortable home

We enjoyed our stay at the Blue Crab. The location of the house is right off the bike path, super convenient to get around to the beach, Cisco, and other parts of Nantucket, and a mile walk or ride to town. Home is comfortable and very well stocked. Awesome back porch got lots of use all times of day!

Family gathering

We gathered our family for a magical week in Nantucket at The Blue Crab. We have rented houses in Nantucket for more than 30 summers, and the location of this house may have been the best! We walked and biked into town , biked to Cisco Brewery, Cisco, Madaket and Ladies’ beaches, and to the Downyflake for breakfast. We loved the quiet and spent hours on the back porch. The house was clean, comfortable and welcoming. We would happily return!

Wonderful home for our girls weekend getaway

Thank you Sharon for sharing your wonderful home with us for our Christmas Stroll girls getaway. It was just perfect for our group of eight. We had plenty of room, and room to spare. Your home felt so welcoming as soon as we walked in. Loved your décor and the Blue Crab touches throughout, which is the name for this home. We walked everyday to the downtown area. Evenings we spent around the warm and cozy fireplace drinking wine and playing games. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a base for their Nantucket vacation. Wish we were visiting during the warmer season to take advantage of the lovely yard and back porch with wicker furniture. Quick response to any questions we had. Only little glitch was figuring out the lock but the caretaker responded right away with directions. We really didn't cook much but the kitchen had everything we would have needed. We saw a doe one morning in the front yard. Hope we are able to return in the future.

I bought this house new and have loved the journey of completing the property and lovely custom built house into an oasis for families.
My family gathers there most special occasions and are so enamored with our special place that each family member has put down roots on Nantucket. We are all scattered around the country but still reconvene on Nantucket for holidays, birthdays and vacations.

Why they chose this property

We love the luxury of having an acre of land on an island where land is scarce. We are in the town district and can walk to town. Yet when we are at home, the serenity of the expansive grounds makes an amazing relaxing retreat.

What makes this property unique

We love the farmer's porch off the kitchen and living room with comfortable white wicker furniture. In warm weather we spend all of our time there, overseeing games in the back yard and cooking on the barbecue and grabbing a summer nap.
A great place to sink in to a vacation bliss.

We also love the new lower level family room with it's own bath. It's a great space for teens, football parties or just relaxing in a quiet space.

A new large heated salt water swimming pool with spa and fire-pit is added for 2022 and will have easy flow from the summer porch.
