Spacious 5BR 7 bath Home on 3 Acres Near Beach/Bike Path/Shuttle Bus
Incandescence has 5 bedrooms, each with its own private, full, tumbled-marble bathroom, plus there are 2 half baths and an outdoor shower. Our home is on a private, 3-acre property ten minutes from town, and very close to a shuttle bus stop and the bike path. We are a mile and a half from a pristine, secluded beach. Guests rave about the two large living rooms, the well-outfitted, gourmet kitchen, and the fact that large groups can spread out (with everyone finding their own special niche spot), but even small groups find the house warm and inviting. No pets allowed, sorry.

The moment you drive up the circular shell driveway and see the stonework, gardens and wrap-around farmers’ porches of Incandescence, you're going to feel all the comfort and delight of being at your own dream home. From sunrise flooding the breakfast area until the last rays of the sun set over the moors, the house glows with the beauty of Nantucket’s ever-changing light. Custom built and brimming with unique architectural details and appointments of the highest quality, it is a house sophisticated enough for entertaining but comfortable enough to just kick off your flip flops, put on some music and relax after a tough day at the beach. Incandescence is decorated in a warm beachy style with plenty of antique pine, white slipcovered furniture, and decorative accents in ocean shades. And although this large (4,800 square foot) house comfortably sleeps 12, it is chock full of unpretentious places, intimate spaces, and the quirky little hideaways that make a classic Nantucket home linger forever in your memory ...
The Bedrooms and Baths: Incandescence is spacious enough for two or even three families to vacation together. Each of the five bedrooms has its own beautifully tiled en suite bath, and there are two half baths off the 'public' rooms.
The huge master bedroom on the second floor boasts a king bed, a private covered deck, and a spa-sized, luxurious, tumbled-marble bath with a jacuzzi tub, from which there are beautiful views across Tom Nevers and out to sea. The master bath also has his & her sinks and a large two-person, glass-enclosed shower with double shower-heads and multiple wall jets.
Two of the bedrooms on the first floor - one with a king bed, and one with a queen bed and a futon -are off a large, private hallway. Both rooms are large (particularly the king), and could easily serve as second 'masters' when two or three families vacation together. Another bedroom with two twin beds is off the living area. Bedroom #5 has a queen bed and is on the second floor.
The 'Living' Areas: The living room features cathedral ceilings, high gable windows, a wood burning fireplace, and French doors out to the deck, which is equipped with table, chairs, umbrella, gas grill and an outdoor shower. A wonderful gourmet kitchen with butter-yellow glazed cabinetry, limestone counters and stainless steel appliances awaits your culinary flair; an open floor plan to the large dining area allows hosts and guests to feel equally at home. Off the kitchen is a charming, inviting family room with stereo, TV and games for the whole family, plus a gas-fired fireplace to take the chill off those late summer/early Fall nights. Air conditioning, cable, high speed Internet, and WiFi allow you to remain comfortable and stay in touch, even on the “Far Away Land.”

We so enjoyed our week at the house! Loved the Tom Nevers location, and took several trips down to Sconset. Ubers were also readily available for dinner in town. A wonderful family vacation!
Beautiful, fully private getaway. Ideal for large groups with plenty of space inside and out for everyone. Two living rooms, endless, outdoor spaces, large bedrooms, well equipped, helpful and friendly hosts. Highly recommend!
The home was lovely in the quiet Tom Never’s neighborhood. Beautifully constructed and decorated. The stay was clean and comfortable. Plenty of space inside and out. The clear night sky and view from the widows walk was something to behold.

lovely family home
My husband, myself and our 3 married children and grandchildren spent a week in this beautiful home. It was roomy and very clean. The grounds are beautiful and it is very close to beautiful bike paths. If the weather is not good it is a delightful and immaculate home to spend your time. Lauren & Ron are a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend this home.

It is hard to say which we love more: when families like yours come three or four generations strong and everyone has a great time, or when we talk to the great-grandfolks who tell tales about when they first visited the Island eight decades back. Nantucket is a place that can get into your heart and stay there forever. It's lovely to see young children catching the magic from their grandfolks. I hope we'll be seeing them - and the grandchildren soon-to-come - sometime again. It's a great summer ritual.
Place was great! Owners are super nice , Ron was there when we got there working on things. We understood there was bad weather up to our stay so there was lots to be done in cleanup/repairs. The house is huge - wish there were more TV’s (personal preference - there was only 1 in whole house) but we were out and about anyways. Recommend for all families!

Thank you, Zack, for your kind words. We are so glad you and your group enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately, we were in the process of replacing one of our TVs the weekend you visited, but there is now a second TV. We look forward to having you back in the future!
Absolutely beautiful property in a quiet and central area. Easy drive to town, the beach, and Sconset. Communications with the owners were great. We had a wonderful stay. Our only disappointment was that the airlines cancelled all flights ahead of Hurricane Lee so we missed two days making it an expensive trip. Trip insurance didn't help. It was our first time to Nantucket and this property made it a wonderful experience. We'll be back.
My family & friends had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Incandescence this past weekend! The house is located approx. 10 min from town and has amazing walking paths and beach nearby. I highly recommend this listing for large parties as it has 5 spacious bedrooms complete with their own bathrooms! The house was tidy, linens were plentiful, and the outdoor spaces were wonderful. Do expect the owners to pop by from time to time as their property is large - but Ron was extremely communicative and kind. Don’t hesitate on booking this wonderful escape!

Charming and spacious home close to beach
We were thrilled with this lovely, expansive home close to Tom Nevers beach. We needed a property that could accommodate 10 of us comfortably and this fit the bill perfectly. The owners were gracious and attentive to our needs which impressed us greatly. We loved the location since it was very private yet only took us three minutes to get to the beach. There were no crowds and plenty of parking. It was almost like having a private beach of one's own. Having a rental on as much land as this one is made us feel like we were in our own private compound yet we were really only about 4 miles away from town. Home had all the modern conveniences that we needed and we particularly loved the deck and yard. Would definitely return!

Thank you for your kind words of appreciation. I'm so glad you mentioned the proximity to the beach and how much you enjoyed it. Many people are familiar with Surfside and Jetties but don't know or forget that there are a lot of other beautiful beaches on the island, including the one just down the road from our house (Tom Nevers Beach) which is both unspoiled and uncrowded. Thank you for being terrific guests. Ron and I took delight in your delight! We look forward to hosting you and your family again.
This house accommodates 12 people very comfortably, which is a rarity on Nantucket. Lots of different places to sit and enjoy your company, from outdoor decks and lawn chairs, to comfortable couches and arm chairs throughout the house. Appliances are top notch. Location is excellent - only a short (15min) bike ride to Siasconset, and an island bus stop at the end off Tom Nevers Road. Perhaps the best thing about this house is the obvious fact that it is maintained with love and care, and the owners are nearby, accessible and accommodating if needed, without interfering with your stay. Check-out is a breeze compared to other VRBO's. My only hesitation in leaving such a glowing review is that others might book this property before me. Alas, rent this house - you won't be disappointed. :)
Large property, that can expand to sleep a lot of people (10 as is, up to 14 I think?). Home has been upgraded and expanded by the current owner, so a lot of work has gone into it. If you are looking in the Tom Nevers area this is a good choice. Most rooms have full baths which is nice (water is very hot, so be careful). The master has an impressive bathroom, and it's a bright room so if that bothers you bring some night/sleep masks. If you are going into town it's about a 30 min bike ride/10-15 min car ride, ($20 uber depending on the time).
We hadn't planned on using the yard but our kids loved having the space outside.
Beach chairs were provided and worked great. The widows walk provided an amazing view (can see a lot of ocean on a clear day).
Hosts were easy to communicate with, and very friendly. We'd certainly consider staying here again.

Thank you for staying with us and for writing such a thoughtful and detailed review. I thought it might be helpful to other travelers to clarify a couple of the specifics you mentioned. The house has five bedrooms (each of which has a private bath). One of the bedrooms also has a futon bed. So the house comfortably sleeps 12. There is also a separate, privately-sited one bedroom cottage on the property (that can be rented separately) and that can sleep four. So that brings the total to 16 for both properties. Another detail is that we built the house (which is 4800 square feet) from the ground up at its current location. However, a small portion of the house was formerly a one bedroom oceanfront cottage in Surfside which, rather than seeing it demolished, we brought out to Tom Nevers, fully renovated it and incorporated it into the new construction. Moving island houses rather than carting them off to the landfill is an old Island tradition dating from the 1600's. In fact, the entire original town of Nantucket was moved to its current location around 1795. So 'Incandescence' is a comfortable, newly built house that takes part in that little piece of island tradition. End of history lesson! Thanks again for visiting.

Our take on a limerick of Nantucket
There once was a family who met up on Nantucket. They decided to say...this is a family book, so we won't complete that thought. One thing that was complete was this trip. Not only did we reunite but Bret and Brye saw almost the entire island via, bike, bus, jeep and foot. We as a family enjoyed every moment both at the house and exploring. Traveling from Texas and California along with hosting our local Boston area friends we drank pineapple jalapeño infused vodka at the Cisco Brewery (twice) but we also enjoyed talking to sea lions along the beach, riding our bikes to and from town, eating as much lobster as possible and grabbing some sun at the beach. That, plus runs on the bikes to Stop n Shop made this Nantucket vacation one to remember. Family, friends and all the freshest seafood you could imagine. As we head back to the real world, we were "that family who visited Nantucket." And we can cross is off our bucket list. But will more than likely come back just because it was a great house and week.

We know about those pineapple-vodka cocktails at sunset... people see sea lions even when there aren't any! The gang out at Cisco Brewers have turned that sleepy little corner of the Island into one of Nantucket's favorite destinations. And it sounds like you discovered that between the bike paths, the walking trails, the moped rentals, and the public transportation system there are lots of ways to get to the delights of this little Island without having to all squeeze into a car. We've even heard from parents that a highlight of their vacation was a week where they didn't have to play 'chauffeur' - the island is small, safe, easily navigated, and very child-friendly. The little ones can get a bit of extra freedom, the grownups get a bit of extra quiet, and the house is located centrally enough that it's always easy to regroup when its time for 'all hands on deck' for the next activity. Thanks again for coming ... maybe next time we'll get to hear how your limerick REALLY goes...
What a wonderful, long weekend we had in Nantucket! So lucky to have found Incandescence ... it was perfect for us. We were on the island for a family wedding and looking for a place for 2 couples and 2 adult children. Ron & Lauren's home was perfect! It actually has 5 bedrooms all with private baths! That is hard to beat. Bedding was nice, kitchen was well stocked, lots of info on local things to do, etc. The communication with the owners was great all the way through. They quickly answered any questions we had throughout the booking process and our stay. Plenty of space for other family members to visit and hang out. Even had great wildlife...deer, bunnies, lots of birds, and the neighbor dog, Scout! Thank you for a memorable weekend!
A beautiful spacious house with 5+ bed rooms and 7 baths! Tons of living space and nice outdoor tables that easily accommodated our family group of 3 adult couples and 3 kids. The owners, Lauren and Ron were very communicative and a pleasure to deal with. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay.
This beautiful home is situated on a large, quiet piece of property about 10 minutes from town. It is warm, inviting, and comfortable. We stayed with a group of 12; everyone had a comfortable bed and enough space. The home has two large living spaces, a dining room, an outdoor back deck, and a front porch. We utilized all of the spaces during our long weekend. Lauren and Ron are friendly, accommodating, and easy to get in touch with! I would highly recommend this property to any large group looking for a home away from home on Nantucket! We cannot wait to come back again!
Wow - this listing really doesn’t do this property justice. It was the gift that kept on giving! We had a group of 12 girls and were able to sleep comfortably, hang outside on the deck or front lawn for coffee, and even were provided enough beach chairs and towels for everybody! Lauren and Ron were very communicative the whole time and when Ron had to stop by once to go into the basement he was super respectful of our privacy (but SUCH a nice guy with great sense of humor!) would stay 100 times over. Thank you L&R!
We had the best time at the property. Ron and Lauren communicated well and the house and yard were meticulously cared for. Can’t wait to plan another trip there!
The house and backyard are beautiful / spacious and exactly what our group wanted. Short drive to town. The hosts were responsive whenever we contacted them.
This is a beautiful home with room to spare. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. There is a very large yard and the children were able to run around and play lawn games easily. The hosts were very welcoming and responded quickly to the anything about which we had questions.
Our family enjoyed a wonderful vacation on Nantucket. The house was in the perfect location to travel to all points on the island. It was spacious and allowed everyone in the family to have their own private space if needed. The kitchen was well equipped and the livinig spaces were spacious. The Master Bedroom had a lovely bathroom and outside patio. Ron and Lauren were responsive and accomodating. I would highly recommend and would definately return.
This is a fantastic home that fits large families. It is laid out perfectly and was just right for our family of 8 adults and 2 two-year olds. We enjoyed the porch and the outdoor yard. Our little boys loved the bunnies in the yard. This house has it all. Ron and Lauren are awesome and the best hosts ever. The Clays from Georgia highly recommend Incandescence.
We very much enjoyed our stay here. We were a large group of women and the house provided everyone with plenty of space. Each bedroom having its own bathroom was great. We also loved all the different out door seating areas. We cooked a lot of our meals and we were able to find everything we needed. Lauren and Ron were lovely and always very helpful.
What a lovely place to stay! On the quiet side of the island, the house is very cozy and welcoming. A great experience!

About the host
Hosted by Lauren Klein
We welcome you to 'Incandescence,' a lovely and spacious house that Ron and I designed, built and decorated.
Why they chose this property
Ron chose this property because it is a lush, beautiful, 3 acre parcel with distant ocean views, affording privacy and at the same time easy access to everything Nantucket has to offer. A builder on the island for 20 years, this is the fourth (and largest) house that Ron has built in Tom Nevers.
