The longer we stayed at Cris's house, the more we liked it. We were initially not impressed with the somewhat downscale kitchen and a number of the lighting choices, but the more time we spent on the property the more we appreciated its excellent qualities—including the spacious bedrooms (especially the two queen rooms, which were very comfortable), the thoughtfully curated extras (including a handful of games our kid visitors loved), the responsiveness and friendliness of the host and his caretaker, and the outdoor amenities of the property (the lakefront, lawn, fire pit, and generous driveway). It is a great spot for enjoying the night sky, birdlife on the lake, trees rustling in the wind, a sunny lawn—in general the outdoor sights and sounds of South Shore Nova Scotia. It is a quick drive to a number of glorious beaches (Crescent, Risser's, Sperry) as well as the LaHave ferry and bakery, Ploughman's Lunch, the Petite Riviere general store. A great location for exploring the South Shore in both directions—east to Lunenburg and west to Liverpool and more far-flung beaches such as Sommerville and Carter's—and it's a half hour to Bridgewater for more serious groceries, drugstore, etc. And the lake itself is deep, warm, clean, and great for swimming (if you don't mind jumping over one squishy spot near the shore). TL;DR, we had a great time here and would return.
