About this property

A Quiet Riverside Cottage with 2 Fireplaces

Escape the hustle and bustle of city life and embrace the tranquility of nature in your very own 1-bedroom tiny home nestled on 2 acres of pristine land along a picturesque riverbank. This is not just a home; it's a lifestyle!

Heron's Rest year round cottage located on just over two acres of land beside one of the largest set of rapids of the Petite River. This quiet and private rental is just off the main road giving quick access to the wide range of local interest and activities. Its the perfect location for a romantic get away for two or a personal retreat. The house is fully equipped with a fridge, stove, dishwasher and laundry facilities. It will sleep 2 in the main bedroom queen sized bed. The large deck which overlooks the river is accessed off the kitchen and includes a BBQ and outdoor dining facilities. Guests can enjoy a quiet evening on the deck listening to the river and watching the stars or build a bonfire in the riverside fire pit.

This is a charming cottage with a large deck overlooking the rapids. You will enjoy the sound of the river from the house. It is cozy and comfortable.

Located just 1.5 hours from Halifax, this is a wonderful community close to local beaches, steeped with history and full of charm. Petite Riviere is just a few minutes away and has a general store (complete with liquor store). Have one of their wonderful cups of coffee and enjoy a few minutes on the deck.

Please note that there is no public transit here. I prefer to send an information package out to my guests rather than use the site information system. The package comes about a week before their stay and covers all the information needed for their stay.

Paul and I love to explore Nova Scotia and are often seen clambering over waterfalls in search of a new spot to set up our tripods. In the summer months we love to sail, exploring the coast and joining in on the local races. Winter takes us outdoors to freeze our fingers off to catch the warm light of the perfect sunrise or out across the trails on x-country skiis.

Why they chose this property

This property is perfect for couples, it is in a quiet location with lots of privacy but nearby many attractions. In the winter its a great place to turn of the electronics and sit by the fire and relax. In the summer you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the river or a fire under the evening stars. There are many places close by to discover if you like to explore.

What makes this property unique

The most unique aspect of the cottage is its location above a set a rapids which can be heard in the cottage year round. This lovely sound of water provides the perfect acoustic backdrop to the cottage. Guests can enjoy their morning cup of coffee on the deck overlooking the river and watch the sun come up while they plan their day of adventures.
