We loved staying in Egg Harbor it was close to everything. The house had everything we needed. The beds were a bit hard and the internet was slow but it wasn’t a huge deal.
The rental certainly met our expectations. It was definitely roomy for the 7 of us. The bedrooms accommodated all of us with ease. We enjoyed the roominess of the dining room and family room and especially the screened in porch.
The rental was ideally located, making travel relatively easily.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Great location but….Kitchen and downstairs bathroom were dirty (wall in kitchen had dried food). No iron, blow dryer or shampoo which was a bummer given price point. We made do but for the cost it was disappointing.
Very cute little house. Great location and neighborhood. Mattresses and bedding could use an update but otherwise we loved the retro fell of the house. It felt like the comfort of being at Grandma’s.
The house was very charming and had a lot of useful space. We spent a lot of time out on the screened in porch that had a nice view of the sun rise over Egg Harbor.
The home was clean and provided plenty of linens.
The location was great. Easy access to downtown and the rest of Door County. The Alpine Resort golf course is across the street, we carried our clubs over for our round.
The house is old, and your expectations should be mindful of that. The only gripes we had: 1. The upstairs gets very warm, even with an in window ac unit up there. The main level is pleasant though. 2. The wifi was spotty, but you shouldn't be on your devices that much. Go and enjoy the outdoors!
We thought the house was a great value and the description from the owner is honest. Their response to our questions were timely and informative. They can give you great recommendations for places to go, eat and do.
We loved the vintage feel of the property. Loved the screened in porch which always seemed to have a lovely cool breeze. We could see the Egg Harbor waterfront area from that porch and was only a stroll away. 2 single beds on first floor and 2 single bed with a queen on the second floor, showers on both floors and very authentic kitchen. The only draw back is we don't believe this would be a place for anyone who wishes to make meals there, only two burners appeared to work, the refrigerator was probably from the 60's with an ice box that will accommodate 20# bag of ice. Limited pots and pans but a huge assortments of glasses, especially Wine and Margarita! I would do it again just for the porch.
The house was adequate for the long weekend where we found ourselves often busy in town. It’s was disappointing how musty the house was and with other basics like the beds creaking and sheets not fitting correctly. One grill was rusted and dirty and the other covered with mold with no brush to clean it. Overall, I was wasn’t too surprised but seemed a little more attention needs to be given to making our stay a high quality one.
Size of a house, but like a cabin. Only one Queen bed, but that’s all we needed. Right across the street from a golf course. Cool. Property owners stopped by and said hi when we were sitting outside. Super friendly people. Enjoyed the stay.
The house is old and dated. Very musty odor that was difficult to remove. We had to burn scented candles throughout the stay. Downstairs bathroom shower is too small for normal sized people. Not enough electrical plugs in upstairs bedrooms.
This was a great house to stay in. It had everything we needed. Upstairs got a little warm with the hot temps outside. First floor stayed cool. Can’t wait to go back!

Location was good. Liked the 4 bedrooms. Furniture was worn and not clean. Carpets really dirty.
I give the property 2 stars. Smoke detector is old plug in. Needs to be battery operated.

Response from VrboOwner on 13 Aug, 2021
The safety of our guests is very important to us. There are smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers in our rental houses and they are inspected on a regular basis by the Wisconsin State Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection. The smoke detectors in this house use electricity as well as having a battery backup should there ever be a power failure.
My family and I enjoyed this space for a weekend. The screened in porch and large yard was perfect for our dog! The dining and living room opened into one another creating a large space. The kitchen has a stove and enough space to cook a large dinner. A/c window unit upstairs and downstairs. No fire pit but the location is near some beaches and town. The owners are quick to respond and accommodating. We hope to return!
The place was clean and beds where good. The furnace didn’t work very well. It was 44 degrees outside and in the house we couldn’t get it to 60 degrees. Everything else was fine.

Quiet spacious cabin for 7
Shorewood cabin was quiet and spacious for my family of 7. Just a few cons, air conditioning is only on the main floor. After our purchase of fans, bedrooms were adequate. Wifi was posted, but not accessible. Front desk was unsure of which network to use (wifi in lobby was accessible). Very dated decor and cabin, all but the bathrooms. No cookie sheets available or wine opener. Staff very freindly, close to town and beach. Lake view was very small. Golf course accross the street. We enjoyed our stay after a few adjustments.

About the host

I was born and raised in Egg Harbor, Door County, Wisconsin. I went to grade school in Egg Harbor (the current location of the Egg Harbor Fire Dept.) and attended junior high and high school at Gibraltar H.S. in Fish Creek, 5 minutes north of Egg Harbor. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and have been involved in a family business my entire life--the Alpine Resort and Golf Course in Egg Harbor. After owning this business for 100 years, we have sold it to a new owner. We continue to rent our eight vacation houses in Egg Harbor seasonally. I have two adult sons and I live in Sturgeon Bay, about 20 minutes south of Egg Harbor. Door County has been a great place to grow up and live and I'm blessed to have the opportunity to remain here on this beautiful peninsula. I love to swim and boat and fish in the summer. And I enjoy skiing and ice fishing in the winter.
Why they chose this property
Shorewood house has been in our family from the beginning. It's close to all the great things Egg Harbor (and Door County) has to offer. It's only available for vacations in the spring, summer and fall. My family is very protective of this house and keep it clean and well maintained.
What makes this property unique
Shorewood is just a short walk to the Egg Harbor beach. You can see the water across the road, it has a nice lawn area to play badminton and horseshoes and football, it has a great porch and it's quite roomy. It's also easy to walk into the central part of the village of Egg Harbor to visit shops, listen to music, go to the grocery store and fish at the marina. Across Horseshoe Bay Road from this house is the 18 hole Alpine Golf Course and dining at Burton's on the Green.
