About this property

The Beach Barn - Waterfront Cottage on Case Inlet - Kayaks, Beach, Stunning View

Welcome to The Beach Barn, a peaceful waterfront retreat on Puget Sound's beautiful Case Inlet where the pace slows, the tide sets the rhythm of the day, and windows frame the water.

Whether you're planning a family vacation, a couple's getaway, or a weekend to reconnect with friends, you'll find comfortable spaces to gather, cozy corners to unwind, and ever-changing views that make it hard to leave.

Inside, the home blends relaxed coastal living with thoughtfully collected vintage touches that create warmth and character without sacrificing comfort. The well-equipped kitchen makes everything from pancake breakfasts to fresh seafood dinners easy, while inviting living spaces are perfect for board games, movie nights, or simply watching boats, birds, and seals pass by.

The Beach Barn began as a simple waterfront home. Over the years, it has evolved into a cozy coastal retreat inspired by its classic gambrel-roof architecture and thoughtfully furnished vintage maritime treasures collected throughout the Pacific Northwest. Each brass lantern, maritime print and vintage piece was chosen with intention. We hope you'll feel right at home from the moment you arrive.

Just beyond the door, the beauty of Case inlet awaits. Sip your morning coffee on the covered deck as the sun rises over Treasure Island and Case Inlet. Spend the afternoon beachcombing, kayaking, or watching boats drift by. End the day gathered on the deck as the changing light reflects across the inlet while enjoying steamed clams that you harvested just steps from the home. Bald eagles, great blue herons, harbor seals, and abundant shorebirds are frequent visitors, making every stay feel connected to nature.

Located on Washington's scenic South Puget Sound, The Beach Barn offers a peaceful escape while remaining an easy drive from Tacoma, Olympia, and Seattle, making it ideal for both weekend getaways and longer vacations.

Guests love the quiet setting, comfortable beds, well-stocked amenities, and the feeling of staying in a home that has been thoughtfully cared for over the years.

About the host

Hosted by Diane Carter

Host profile image
We're Mark and Diane, Seattle natives and high school sweethearts who have always loved creating welcoming spaces for family, friends and guests.

Hosting has become one of our favorite ways to share the places we love. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, reconnecting with family, or simply escaping the pace of everyday life, we hope you'll feel at home here from the moment you arrive.

We truly appreciate every guest who chooses to stay with us and hope your time at The Beach Barn leaves you with wonderful memories and a desire to return.

Why they chose this property

When we began searching for a Puget Sound getaway, we were drawn to the peaceful beauty of Case Inlet. Unlike busier waterfront destinations, this area offers a slower pace where the days are shaped by the tides, wildlife, and life on the water.

The Beach Barn is located just five minutes from the charming town of Allyn, where you'll find restaurants, coffee, groceries, and small-town charm. Yet when you're at the house, it feels wonderfully removed from the hustle and bustle, with very little traffic and plenty of opportunities to relax.

Our low-bank waterfront makes it easy to enjoy the beach, whether you're beachcombing, digging for clams (in season with the proper license), kayaking, or simply sitting by the water. The protected waters of Case Inlet are ideal for paddling or floating, and Treasure Island sits just offshore - an enjoyable destination for kayakers. Because the inlet in front of the property is a no-wake zone, boats pass by slowly, creating a peaceful atmosphere that's perfect for watching life on the water.

One of the pleasures of staying here is the nearby Port of Grapeview boat launch and Fair Harbor Marina. Throughout the day you'll see fishing boats, paddleboards, and friendly locals enjoying the water, adding to the authentic waterfront character of the neighborhood.

We fell in love with this special corner of South Puget Sound because it offers the best of both worlds - quiet enough to truly unwind, yet full of the simple pleasures that make a waterfront vacation unforgettable.

What makes this property unique

The Beach Barn isn't a professionally staged vacation rental - it's a waterfront home that has been thoughtfully collected and lovingly cared for over the years.

Its classic gambrel roof inspired both its name and its character. Rather than filling a home with matching furniture, we've furnished it with vintage coastal finds, maritime artwork, brass lanterns, and one-of-a-kind treasures discovered in antique shops, estate sales, thrift stores and small markets throughout the Pacific Northwest. We hope guests enjoy discovering these special touches as much as we enjoyed finding them.

Outside, you'll find one of our favorite features - a wide grassy lawn that stretches to the shoreline of beautiful Case Inlet. Mornings begin with the sunrise over Treasure Island, days are filled with kayaking, beachcombing, and wildlife watching, and evenings invite you to relax on the deck as the light changes across the inlet.

Although The Beach Barn feels wonderfully tucked away from busy roads, the adjacent public boat launch adds a bit of waterfront charm. It's fun to watch boats come and go, chat with local fisherman, and experience the rhythms of life on the inlet.

Most of all, we hope you'll feel what we felt when we first discovered this special place - a peaceful waterfront retreat where slowing down comes naturally.
