About this property

Escape to the Mountains, Private Creek Front Property, Nature Lovers, waterfall

Year round waterfall on trout stream! Go ahead, go barefoot it feels so go! You will enjoy everything about Barefoot Brook! You will love a peaceful private cottage 30 feet from the Brook. This property is at the end of a wooded road with a big lush flat yard perfect for being barefoot, a separate tiny house, a large fire pit & maximum high country outdoor living!! If you love nature and the privacy the woods yet love being close to downtown this is a perfect place for you! Secluded waterfront location that wraps almost 180 degrees around the cottage with your own small private serene waterfalls...This is Mountain Paradise! This house is for nature lovers. If you are looking for a new house with lots of amenities this may not be the house for you. The house is older and therefore reflects it’s age.

The house itself is simple, and an older cabin built in 1960 so have realistic expectations.
Please read the full home description as it is rustic, the beauty of this house in the mountains and the nature of the pure outdoor bliss of the location.
It does not have air conditioning.

The Gas fireplace not included unless a $50 fee is included for additional usage (this is not the main heat source). Additional costs for longer than 3 days. $100 for a week stay.

Please understand we do not give any refunds for bad weather at all.

If you choose to have a fire you must comply with local NC Forest Service Rules & Regulations. Firewood or fire-starting supplies are not included.

This is our private home so overall we look only for guests that are respectful of other peoples spaces. We ask you leave the cottage like you found it, this means being responsible for your own trash and providing your own paper products if staying for an extended stay.
Enjoy the sounds of the relaxing creek from your private wrap around deck that leads to your own flat beautiful yard and tiny house! Tiny house is a bonus space as it is not heated at this time.
This hideaway truly offers peace and tranquility for the whole family. There are so much natural beauty the setting is surreal.
Inside offers an open concept and great room with soaring vaulted ceilings. Warm up with a gas fireplace (see video) & spacious open floor plan with all the modern amenities you and your family will require. Gas fireplace is an addional deposit for utilities use of $50 that must be paid upfront ($100 if more than 4 nights) this is not the heat source.

Enjoy the space of 3 bedrooms with a King master suite with a private bathroom. Perfect for larger groups or families with children as we also have a tiny house on the property with views of the creek with the feel of a tree house. The property offers meditation and complete privacy in your own tiny house included with the beautiful property! The master has a large Smart TV. An updated stainless kitchen with private dining room will seat 6 and accommodate everyone. We embrace the family mentality so we leave a few condiments in the fridge!
The creek side cottage is extremely family friendly which sleeps up to 6 guests. There is a pull out sofa in her game room however in the winter this is not recommended. 4 adults and 2 kids in the winter months is the most accommodating.
This proepty truly is one of a kind with lush rhododendron surrounding the home, plus it is at the end of a private dead end road. This cottage has comfortable furniture throughout this beautiful one story home, private waterfront view of the creek, fire pit with outdoor seating, a tiny house for the kids or to enjoy rest and meditation (it is not furnished for sleeping) The creek does have small brook trout for fishing (poles not provided).
The serenity of the creek will be something truly special and memorable for your high country vacation.
Hiking available by car within a 10-15 minute drive to the parkway that offers numerous trails. Not available for wedding or event rental. 2- night minimum longer with holidays. Enjoy a private creek, cozy, romantic, fishing, rustic. The hot tub is not included with the house.

10 mins from ASU. Skiing, Tweetsie Railroad and Blowing Rock destinations 20 mins.
Waking distance to another VRBO property (not the same owners) Sunburst Cottage Incase you wanted to be walking distance to another family.

Shower had no hot water, the owner ghosted us, lights were out or missing, clean the kitchen
First, and not the biggest problem, is that we never received codes or emails about checking in. We waited till a half hour before check in to email the owners on how to get in to the rental. No reply. I called at check in time and NO ONE ANSWERED. my cousin who just so happens to live a few houses down suggested that maybe the owners would answer a local number. So she dialed the number given, put the phone on speaker and the owner picked up on the first ring. Like out of area people wouldn’t rent a rental. The lady gave a story about the website not working. Ok fine. Oddly enough, the email with checkin codes came in 10 minutes after the phone call was over. Ok fine. No problem we’ll get on with unpacking and enjoy Thanksgiving. The lead; the house sleeps 6 and has 2 showers. Great. What you’re not told is the master shower had no hot water. So 3days before thanksgiving I send an email about the hot water. She responds with sending an email saying someone will be over at some point. Great, thanks, these things happen. We get up and go, come back and the repair man had been there and left his gloves. Awesome, I leave a grateful email and let the owner know the repair man left his gloves and we left them on the table when he comes back. I check the shower; still ice cold well water and the hot water never kicks in. I message her the day before thanksgiving no response. 8 hours later, I call, no answer. I messaged and called her for 3 days and she STILL has not responded. 6 people using one shower for the exorbitant price they scalp you with. To a lesser degree; the kitchen area and dishes were greasy and dirty. The showers were dirty. Every room had burned out light bulbs. The dining room light fixture didn’t even have bulbs in it. All of that would have been understandable if the owners wouldn’t have ghosted us and our problems marooned in their dilapidated house. It was Thanksgiving, we paid way too much, my family had to share a tiny bathroom, the lights were out, and if it had not been for my cousin we would have to scrape some place else to sleep. We’re not interested in being bribed with any kind of refund. People need to know. I would NEVER suggest this place to anyone. They can keep ghosting these stranded renters

Secluded and comfortable with great location to Boone
Nice rustic home with a lot of character on quiet property with creek flowing around to listen to and explore. Very relaxing and comfortable, well appointed with everything you need, liked the coffee area,. Minor mis cue with check in procedures yet owner solved and everything worked out great. We came in for a game and property location to campus is great, would stay again.

Family trip
We absolutely loved our stay here! We came up for a soccer tournament and also to celebrate Mother’s Day and our 2nd sons 10th birthday. The kids loved the house and the creek was amazing! Although, not really a fishing creek. But it was fun to play on the rocks. We weren’t sure what we were supposed to do with our trash. We ended up leaving 2 bags behind unlike the requested 1 bag. We just didn’t know where we were supposed to take it. Having 4 kids, it’s impossible to only have 1 bag of trash for 4 days. The house was in a great location, just minutes away from everywhere we needed to be! We enjoyed eating at the Peddaling Pig right down the road. The house was very spacious and we enjoyed family game night with the family games in the house! Thank you so much for opening your home to us! We enjoyed every second!

We have lived in the High Country for over 20 years now and love it! We are nature lovers and we deeply enjoy our mountain home. We love the privacy of the creek cottage and hope others will enjoy if as much as we have over our years in the mountains!

Why they chose this property

This property is everything you could want in the Mountains of North Carolina. It has a perfect whispering creek for playing in or catching salamanders or fly fishing! This beautiful area we call home has so many wonderful features it truly is a GEM to be discovered. From watching the birds of the covered porch, to having a bon fire in the large fire pit relaxing roasting marshmallows this cottage truly does have everything you could ask for on a family mountain retreat

What makes this property unique

Escape from the busy city life and come to where you can relax and de-stress. The yard & privacy of the creek are extremely hard to find, as you are private yet still so close to ASU, Boone and the Blue Ridge Parkway. This waterfront location with your own private creek is truly a hidden GEM. The property is positioned on the bend of the creek making it an ideal location for the whole family. The creek is a steady stream perfect for kids and adults to enjoy. This property make for a vacation where you can relax, disconnect from a fast paced society and truly enjoy nature.
