Redwood adventure

This home is a great place to stay if you are wanting to explore the redwoods like us. The property is beautiful and we were able to enjoy several family hikes without having to drive! The house had everything our family needed to make a meal at home. The area was great with so much to see and do! We wish we had more time to see it all!

Perfect place to stay

The house had everything we needed for our stay. It was comfortable and clean and the property was incredible. You're out in the woods and there are banana slugs just about everywhere you walk, so watch out! That being said, it's worth it to see all of the beautiful scenery. I'd happily return in the future.

Perfect Balance

We are nature lovers - bird watchers. This property is lovely with great trails….tranquil with lots of birds. The house has all you need and very clean. Perfect location for a walk in the woods with your coffee with short drives to beach, shopping, good food and the fantastic redwoods. It was a great trip to escape the heat inland. Owner is honest about the highway noise, but not enough to worry about.

Everything as advertised

Cabin was spacious and comfortable and location was convenient. We enjoyed the trails on the property and the kids especially enjoyed the games and the abundance of banana slugs. The turn off is hard to see but the directions were very clear and helpful.

Perfect for our intimate wedding!

I can’t rave enough about Peter, the property owner, and the communication between him and our family to coordinate for our intimate wedding. He was flexible and accommodating to our needs. Our wedding guests could not stop talking about the beautiful scenery of our ceremony and reception. The cabins were able to accommodate myself and my husband, as well as our immediate family. Everything was clean and the kitchens are loaded with dishware! We are so honored to have been married among such gorgeous nature. The wildlife was bustling and we spent our first day there hiking and birdwatching. We were even lucky enough to watch the October supermoon! Whether you are having a wedding or just a weekend retreat with family and friends, this is your spot. Hearing the ocean waves in the distance at night was the cherry on top. Thank you Peter & family for making our wedding dreams come true!

Great long weekend getaway

Family of three - husband, wife and 3-yr old - loved this getaway in Mendocino county. Meadows, ponds and walking trails on grounds were perfect. And short drive to parks and Mendocino were easy and convenient. House was what we needed for the three of us. Good space to relax and well-equipped kitchen. Maybe could have been a bit cleaner in places, but you’re out in nature for most of the day so a little dust isn’t a big thing.

Wonderful property!

We really enjoyed our stay at Meadowlark. Our boys loved exploring the property with trails and ponds, and we had everything we needed inside the house. Fires in the fire pit were a definite highlight. We will definitely be back! One recommendation (because I always want my kids to sleep longer): blackout curtains in the bedrooms. :)

Nice place to stay for few days!

It was a great experience overall! Very good location, accurate description on how to locate and access the property. All the amenities as described, it was quite clean as well. The internet was super slow, but it was actually a good sign for our heads to disconnect from the world and enjoy the nature with the friends! 3 minutes drive from downtown Mendocino and about 8 minutes drive from Fort Bragg. Very close to Russian gulch park with a beautiful waterfall- which we visited on our last day. To summarize, a very nice place to stay for few days to clean the head!

Positive Experience but Overgrown Grounds

These are very basic accommodations, great for an unplugged vacation. The wifi worked fine during our stay, but there is no TV, which is probably noted in the listing, but I missed since it's so rare now to not have a TV in a home. There is also no dishwasher, but that wasn't a problem for us. My kids loved having their own bedrooms, since they share one at home. The grounds are lovely, but they were very overgrown for our stay, and we weren't able to follow the trail around the property. One of the bridges over a pond is in disrepair and falling apart. The location is good, very close to Mendocino and Russian Gulch, and quite close to Fort Bragg as well. The host's directions were clear and easy to follow. It's nice and quiet at night, too, which we appreciated. Overall it was a good experience, I just wish we'd been better able to take advantage of the grounds around the house since that is one of the things that most appealed to us in the listing.

Hidden gem

I stayed here for only three days and loved it. If you love nature--redwoods, cypress tress, pristine meadows, hidden ponds with singing frogs, long forest trails all to yourself, birds (lots of birds!)--you'll enjoy staying here. Inside: very comfortable and functional. Thermostat/heater combo works well, a gas range and oven that you can actually cook on, nice selection of kitchen ware, excellent lighting, throughout. beautiful hardwood floors. Three bedrooms. I used only the largest. The bed was comfotable and I slept like a rock. No neighbors or barking dogs anywhere nearby. Quiet. Yes, as the owner mentions, you can hear some traffic noise from Hwy 1, but it's not much, and the double-pane windows really help. I'm very noise-sensitive, was never bothered by it. Nor was I bothered by the absence of a TV. With the amazing forests and meadows just outside the door, who needs the distraction of TV? One of the most outstanding aspects of this stay was dealing with the owner. He was very responsive to communications, provided clear and accurate instructions, was both generous and genuine. That's worth a lot! So, I highly recommend Medowlark, especially for nature-lovers, and am looking forward to my next stay, which I'm hoping will be a good bit longer.

Very beautiful place.

We enjoyed our stay here while visiting family. The house is in a private location with small walking paths and a meadow if you just want to sit and relax. It's a good place to unplug and not far from town, the beach, and the sand dunes. We found the price was very reasonable all things considered. We hadn't seen my sister in a long time so we are grateful we found a place near her that we could enjoy.

Why they chose this property

In 2001, with two young kids, my wife and I found Mendocino Tranquility Meadows. This property has it all. We fell in love with the ponds, open meadow land, beautiful trees, trails and not to mention wild huckleberries. The former owner was a keystone in the community, teacher, and an avid preservationist and birder who wrote "99 Birds of the Mendocino Coast" and "The Natural History of Mendocino." And it shows. Each time a friend visits they are blown away by the treasures this property has to offer.

After giving up the office life, and much hard work rebuilding the dwellings we started our family run business to open up the natural beauty to families like you. We hope you will create memories you will never forget, like watching ducks on the pond, playing frisbee on the grass, and sipping a cup coffee with birds signing in the background. We can't wait for you to see it for yourself!
