Cozy Beach House: Shared Private Beach, Incredible Sand Bar, Stunning Views

We have only a couple of prime weeks remaining for summer 2026.

This lovely family vacation home has 5 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms (one with a claw foot tub) and a spacious open kitchen with a 6-burner Garland range. The renovated kitchen is fully equipped with Vitamix, blender, lobster pot, pots and pans, spices and a variety of cook books - all that you need to cook elaborately or throw together a quick meal.

Amenities include a hot outdoor shower, a large, screened porch with ping-pong table and wicker furniture, 1/4 acre lawn (croquet!), and an outdoor dining and seating area with a Big Green Egg charcoal grill.

Stairs lead down past a hut with beach chairs and umbrellas to a private beach (shared by three surrounding homes) that boasts beautiful sunsets and a cool sandbar at low tide.

The neighborhood has quiet streets (speed limit 20 mph) for morning and evening walks, runs or bike rides. There are many nearby hikes, including Eleanor Roosevelt's summer place about a mile away!

The Westbrook Outlets and Clinton Crossing Malls are minutes away. The Casinos and historic Mystic Seaport (and Aquarium) are 30 minutes away. Also nearby are the Ivoryton Playhouse, the Goodspeed Opera House, the Essex Steam Train, Gillette Castle, Rocky Neck State Park, Hamonesset State Park and Chamard Vineyards.

Easy access to the Westbrook, Clinton and Old Saybrook train stations (Shoreline and Amtrak trains to New York City or Boston).

Great place by the beach

The house is very comfortable with 4 bedrooms on the second floor and a loft on the third. Lots of kitchen gadgets - I especially liked the hand-press espresso machine. A short walk to the beach which my kids loved. Had a great stay!

A vacation to remember

A vacation to write about in a home you read about. We could have spent our days on the idyllic porch if the beach hadn’t been so close and inviting. What a great location — close to great restaurants and towns to explore. Thanks to our wonderful hosts for our fond family memories and for sharing your beautiful home.

Family Beach Weekend

The property was perfect for us all, ages 3 - 69! So much space, proximity to the beach, large grounds for the children play in when not on the beach. Everything we needed was supplied. Just wish we could have stayed longer

Perfect spot

Donna the host was very responsive to our inquiries . The house is a fun quirky space with a comfortable relaxed vibe. The kitchen is well equipped and the living spaces provide well for time together and quiet moments. Outside space is lovely with the ocean just steps away. Loved it!

Nice home, great location, easy 100 yd walk to the water. Home is a bit outdated, but still comfortable Only 1 indoor shower but the outside shower has got hot water which is nice. Master bed is a waterbed which was a curveball.

the absolute best location, the beach was clean, quiet and the sand bar was phenomenal. Blake and donna were incredible hosts The house has been in their family for years it is a rich blend of jazz, art and eclectic belongings that they are so willing to share.The house is spacious and so vintage in its presentation. We spent so much time on the enormous back screened porch with the ping pong matches fast and furious.NO need to bring sheets or beach towels as the supply was plentiful. We did take everything to the laundromat down the street to save time and wear and tear on their facilities. Books galore, so many children's that we read together and art books. Outdoor shower, warm and loved by allthe beach chair hut was full of toys and chairsAn amazing place that enchanted our stay

Great house for family trip

Stayed for several weeks with family, including grandchildren (11, 3, 3, and infant). Great place for kids that age and parents, too. House is comfortable — very lived-in. Kitchen really well-appointed so very easy to cook in. Great grill. Private beach is perfect for small children. Ping pong table is a great touch. Lots of little nooks (a loft upstairs, an office space that’s a little secluded, an outdoor landing with a chaise, etc.) for private time even when there’s a houseful. We loved our stay here. Highly recommend. Owner very nice and really responsive.

Great PLace for a Family Vacation

Family vacation with our 4 daughters and their families (seven grandchildren - 2 in pack-n-plays) was super. All agreed that of the five or six cottages we have rented in the past for a family vacation, this was the best. Easily accomadated nine adults and the children, with room to spare. The yard and the private beach allowed the kids to be kids without fear of disturbing other beach goers. The washer & dryer and two refrigerators were a big plus with the size of our family. Location couldn't have been better. House was clean, great kitchen, yard was well kept, host was informative & graciuos. What more could you ask for!!

Great Family Vacation

This was our second stay at this beach house and it proved to be another terrific family vacation - plenty of room, yard for the children, easy access to a private beach, convenient location, and a welcoming host who responded to any questions and concerns immediately. Great all around vacation place for a family!

Family Beach Vacation

This was a perfect vacation rental for my family. The home easily accommodated 5 adults and 4 children. The kitchen was perfect for making meals and the large circular dining table was perfect for family meals. We really enjoyed the large yard and playing ping pong on the screened in porch. There was easy access to the private beach and floats and beach toys available for use. We made great memories here and can’t wait to go back next year!

Amazing summer vacation

Family Reunion - wish we had more time to enjoy the property!

The property was well equipped - large bedrooms, large comfortable sitting area, large dining table, charming porch, beautiful lawn. We only wish we had more time to enjoy the property and all it offered while we were in town for a family wedding. There was only two negatives - 1) while there are 3 bathrooms, only 1 indoor shower. 2) it was a challenge to wash all the sheets and towels in time for morning checkout. Thank you for a lovely visit. We would love to come back!

Great family beach house

This is a great place for a family vacation. The house fit 5 adults and 4 kids with beds to spare. Great living room and porch area. Lots of space to spread out. The kitchen is recently renovated. It’s walking distance to a great beach with a cool sandbar with lots of tidepool life that’s exposed at low tide. The house is probably 100 years old and has lots of character. A couple of things to note. The king-size bed is actually a waterbed. Being an older house, some of the floors are uneven. In one of the bedrooms I got a head rush the first time I lay down on the bed because of the floor slope. Also although it has 2.5 baths, there is only one indoor shower. The outdoor shower is pretty nice though.
