About this property
Union Station, 3 BR/4 Beds, free private secure parking, backyard patio
A perfect location for vacation or business! 2 blocks from Union Station and access to the metro (red line) and the Circulator bus that will take you to the museums and monuments, Amtrak and commuter trains (including the train from BWI airport). Equally close to the Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress and so much more. House is set up for a family, 2 couples, or business colleagues. Less than one block to great coffee shops and boutique markets for essentials. 2 blocks to a major grocery store, restaurants and other amenities. Secure private parking spot included. The space The house is very clean and well-designed with an open floor plan and half bath on the first floor, 3 bedrooms, full bath, and washer/dryer upstairs. The house is decorated to provide a comfortable oasis from the city where you can kick back and relax on the large sectional sofa, in the sunny bay window reading nook, or on the back patio when the weather is nice. The location of the house is convenient to business and tourist travels alike: it's less than 2 blocks from the metro and buses, commuter trains (VRE and MARC), Amtrak, and the free H Street Trolley. And you can easily walk to the Capitol, Eastern Market, the H Street corridor, the museums on the Mall, and more. Rent a Capital BikeShare bike using the station around the corner or take a great run or walk through historic Capitol Hill. You don't need a car to stay here, but if you do bring your car, you can have access to the private parking spot in the rear of the house. The 3 bedrooms have a king, queen, and twin bed with a trundle, and a pack and play for an infant, and all rooms have blackout curtains so that you can sleep in if you choose. The bath has a full size tub. The kitchen has all the utensils and dishes you will need and the dining room table seats six very comfortably. Guests will also enjoy the 55-inch flat screen smart TV in the living room, along with the associated Sling TV account and DVD player. There's Verizon Fios WiFi for you to use in my house and a full stereo. The backyard has a small bistro table and chairs for when the weather is nice. Other things to note The house has stairs to get to the entryway and to the 2nd floor, where all the bedrooms are located.
I can't accommodate pets or accept packages for you. The apartment below the main house is where I (and my dogs) may stay during your visit. In addition, we are connected to neighbors on both sides. Given the proximity of city living, we ask that you are mindful of the neighbors and keep noise including the volume on the TV and music at a reasonable level and remove your shoes in the house. Also please no jumping on (or off) any of the furniture including beds and sofa. Quiet hours are 10pm-7am. Inform the host of any items that are not working, any items that may have broken during your stay, or if there are any spills or issues that may require extra cleaning or repair - don’t wait for me to “discover” it after you check out. Accidents happen and are usually easily resolved. Thank you for understanding.
There is a motion detector light and security camera outside the back entrance to the house facing the garage and another facing the outside front entrance.

About the host
Hosted by Ingrid Schroeder
I grew up in the suburbs of NY and have lived all over DC for 30 years and love sharing my recommendations with guests. We have 2 friendly dogs that we walk around the Capitol almost every day. I love to travel and explore new places and am an early to bed and early to rise traveler.
Why they chose this property
Before moving to this house in 2016 I owned a rowhouse in Logan Circle in DC. I moved because I was looking for a neighborhood that was more family-friendly and a bit quieter without losing easy access to downtown and all the DC sites. This neighborhood fit that bill! In addition, this house also has a basement apartment, where I may stay when you are at the house. We love sharing the house with guests and our insider tips for exploring DC.
What makes this property unique
This house offers all the charm of a historic DC row house - but was completely rebuilt in 2011. So the inside is new, comfortable and modern. The house could not be in a better location - within two blocks of the metro and Amtrak, a few blocks from the Capitol, Supreme Court, etc., walking distance to a wide variety of restaurants and grocery stores, and close to parks and other amenities. The location is a perfect launching point for a DC vacation or business trip and provides the flexibility to eat out or at home. Don't be surprised if you run into a Senator or Congress person walking down the block or see a motorcade of an ambassador, cabinet member or others. The neighborhood is also charming and completely walkable. I am comfortable walking the dogs early in the morning and at night. I hope you love the house, neighborhood, and surroundings as much as I do!
