The original 'Gufenauf' name was for our boat, symbolizing our intentions -to goof off! We learned to do it so well, we extended the name to our house and invite you to enjoy your own goofin' off experience.
This Gulf Front home is located at Indian Pass in the heart of 'Florida's Forgotten Coast'. Indian Pass is one of the last beaches which still allows campfires for wiener-roasts and s'mores. Because of the unique land/water interplay, the sky creates a planetarium affect, producing sunrises, sunsets and night skies that have to be seen to be believed.
Bring your boat, the driveway is accommodating and the public boat ramp leading to some of Florida's best fishing is only 3/4 mile east; but if you don't find our hidden grouper holes, just drive one mile west to the renowned Indian Pass Raw Bar, home to Apalachicola's finest oysters and seafood. Snorkeling and scalloping is available in St. Joe Bay, only a few miles further West. One-quarter mile from the boat ramp lies St. Vincent Island, a 12,358 acre uninhabited national wildlife refuge (a shuttle is available). Also within minutes is St. Joseph Peninsula State Park - A 2500 acre Park voted the top beach in America in 2002 and is constantly in the top 10!
No boat? Book your own diving or fishing charter with one of the many captains or just sit on the balcony, sipping your favorite beverage and watch the shrimp boats passing the 'Gufenauf' on their way to deep waters.
Whether it’s fishing, crabbing, diving or metal detecting for the legendary pirates' treasure buried at Money Bayou, we hope you enjoy the magic of 'Gufenauf'!

We have vacationed many times at Indian Pass. The location is a short walk to the beach. The neighborhood is very quiet and the host treats you like family.

Gufenauf was the perfect place for us to get away and relax! It was almost as if we had our own private beach! No crowds, and only the peaceful sounds of nature!

You're absolutely right. If you can't relax at the Gufenauf then you just can't relax.
Gufanauf was clean and comfortable with ocean views indoors and out. A two minute walk landed us at one of the nicest beaches on the gulf. The a/c and all the amenities worked great. Communication with Ralph and Brenda was easy, and the check-in/out process was a breeze. My family had a great time!
My family and I had an amazing stay at The Gufenauf! It was very clean and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for cooking. The owner is very nice and responded immediately to all our needs. Only a 2 minute walk to the beach where we had bonfires and my son caught his first shark! This was definitely a trip we will never forget and we will definitely be staying here again!

Super house, super owner, and super vacation!
My wife and I just spent 1 month at Gufenauf House and had a great time. The house was a perfect size for us and was clean and in excellent condition. The owner, Ralph, cannot be beat for his genuine warmth and willingness to impart his advice about all of the things that make Indian Pass so special - thank you, Ralph!
We walked miles every day on the beautiful beach and really relaxed in the "laid-back" atmosphere of Indian Pass. We can recommend Gufenhaus and Ralph wholeheartedly!

Truly enjoyable week! We brought our boat and the convience to rinse it off at the house was a big plus, not to mention the fish cleaning sink! The area is laid back and quiet with only a few minute walk to the beach. When not on the water, visiting the surrounding areas was only a very short drive to Port St Joe and Appalachacola. All in all, it was as described! Looking forward to the next trip!

You folks are welcome anytime. Just let us know and we will set it up.
We have the Gufenauf and its warm, responsive host to thank for one of the most memorable vacations we’ve had in a very long time. Getting away was a much-needed break, as it is for many people. So being
invited to stay in a well-loved home with everything we needed, and set in a laid-back neighborhood with friendly, happy people, made us feel immediately comfortable and welcome. And,the amazing beach…it’s steps away, dog friendly, and the sunrises will knock you out. All we know is, with any luck, we’ll be back!
Thank you, Brenda and Gufenauf!

Thank you, Susan. Our beloved Gufenauf is all the more welcoming with people like you and Kevin loving on it and the magic of Indian Pass beach increases with your love of it!
We very much look forward to your return!

This house was just truly amazing. Close to the beach, restaurants and stores. My boys had a blast on the beach and my husband was up bright and early to go fishing. We rented a golf cart for the week which helped with getting everything to the beach. My only suggestion would be to update the photos that you have posted. The view from the house towards the beach has changed a bit with the area building new houses. Its a wonderful house and area would definitely stay again.

Just as Pictured
A stone's throw from the beach, this little house is very secluded, being situated right at the far corner end of a small neighborhood. The beach is likewise secluded, even for PSJ. The owner is very friendly and helpful, with great communication. One nice touch I am not sure is mentioned in the listing is having hot as well as cold water in the outdoor shower. Another small but important thing is the hot water itself: it's very hot and there's plenty of it. We'll be going back next year! (Sooner if we can!)

A great getaway!
this home is just steps away from the east end of Indian Pass beach. Miles of uncrowded beach await. I was there several weeks before Memorial Day and it was virtually empty. Indian Pass Rd. and Hwy 30A have nice shoulders and light traffic. It was a great bike ride out to Cape San Blas (which has a dedicated bike/runner trail). This allowed for up to 40 miles of cycling. The Port St. Joe Country Club is less than 10 miles away for golf.
The house has everything you could need. I would highly recommend it.

You guys were great and you're
welcome back anytime. Just let me know.
I will start by saying, I've been traveling for about 10 years now and have never visited the same spot twice, but I will make an exception for this place. I LOVED it here! I love the small, quiet feel of the neighbor. It was peaceful and close to the beach. We rented a golf cart and rode it daily around the neighborhood and to the beach. The beach is clean and you don't have to fight for a place to relax and play. My biggest thing when finding a rental place is that it's dog friendly, because we take our dog everywhere we can. Doggie loved the beach! The house was clean and well equipped and my son loved the loft area. We've visited a lot of beaches over the years and this is one of my favorites! It's just beautiful. We can't wait to come back.

Awesome!
This is such a cute little place...its located on a very quite street (saw 2cars pass the whole time). The owners are very nice and called to make sure everything was good and was very eady to deal with. The
kitchen is very well stocked you literary need nothing but food.
They supply so many towels we
never even used half of them
and the place was spotless...the
decore was nicely tasteful and
the place has a very comfy
homey feel to it...the beds are
comfortable and the shower is
HUGE! The loft is a nice little
retreat that the kids loved and
they even saw dolphins from the
windows...the beach was very
close...just a short 2min walk
and your there...it was very clean
and we found so many cool
shells even came home with 20+
whole sand dollars....I would
stay here again and would highly
recommend to ant age group.
Thank you Ralph for sharing your home..we love Indian pass and can't wait to return!

Thanks for those kind words. Wish you could have stayed a little longer. Oh well, maybe next time. Just let us know and we'll set it up.
Perfect for 2 and a dog. We find it difficult to find small houses that allow pets in this area so sometimes have less expectations. We love Indian Pass and the location was perfect. Overall a pleasant experience. The house is a little outdated and could use some general updating. Towels smelled like smoke not sure if they had been washed or stored off site as the house did not smell like smoke at all. The bed definately needs a new mattress,, several sleep toppers have been added to it to accommodate a bad mattress, toppers were not the correct size so made for some lumpy, wonky bedding. Because there is no dishwasher I felt some of kitchen items were not really clean and had to wash them myselt. Overall a solid place to stay.

About the host
Hosted by Ralph Monger
Although we live in Central Fl., we have been coming to Indian Pass for the past 35 years. At first we rented in the area and then in 1987 we bought the Gufenauf. To visit Indian Pass is like stepping back in time 50 years. We have been lucky enough to take our kids, grandkids and now our great grandkids to this magical place. It truly is the 'Forgotten Coast' and hopefully will remain that way for many years to come.
Why they chose this property
This is a question better answered by those renters who come back year after year.
What makes this property unique
We love it here because it's quite, safe, and secluded. We enjoy fishing off of the beach and crabbing with the kids, not to mention, the fresh seafood in the area. Mostly, we enjoy just kicking back, doing nothing, and working on our stress relief. We've had enough of the big city resort vacations.
