This lovely Cedar home in Arbor Vitae/Woodruff is located on a point with 300 feet of frontage on beautiful Johnson Lake. Nestled in 3 acres of beautiful woods, this home is at the end of Donna Drive allowing for a peaceful and safe retreat for families, children and pets. We allow a dog per group.
A gradual slope leads to a sandy beach which is perfect for adults and for kids of all ages. A paddle boat is provided for your use and don't forget to bring your fishing poles as this point offers some of the best fishing on the lake. In addition, a pontoon boat is available for rent. Visit Minocqua.org to see the numerous activities and sites to visit all within 5 miles of the beautiful home.

Wonderful lake property

Great fishing, spacious and well furnished house, pontoon boat available along with fire pit and jacuzzi. Watch out for mosquitoes. Great memories made on lake in our week long stay!

Summer get away

Our family had a great time. fishing was great, we were able to get enough for a friday fish fry. The location is great, easy access to town but still far enough away to feel remote. House has plenty of room for the whole family.

Great for families and close to everything!

Upon arrival, Carolyn met us to give us a tour of her property. The information provided was very useful, and we really appreciated it! The house is private, but a 5 minute drive to the grocery store and downtown Minocqua. We had a wonderful week on the pontoon, and highly recommend this property!

We’ve been coming to Carolyn’s place for 3 years now. The sand beach is the best I’ve seen in many years. The house is always clean and she’s always very accommodating and quick to respond.

Perfect Property

Our extended family had a wonderful time here. The location is ideal as it is private and feels isolated yet all the Minoqua amenities are within minutes. The lake is quiet, clean and great for boating, swimming, and fishing. The shoreline at the house is flat and sandy for swimming. The house itself both inside and out has all the amenities and space we needed with our multiple families. The owner is amazing to work with and we plan to return soon!

Wonderful week at the lake...

This is a great spot to relax and enjoy time with family and friends. The lake has minimal traffic providing excellent opportunities to go out with the pontoon boat and the paddle boat. We also brought along two kayaks which were a lot of fun. Great fishing off the dock. The well-stocked house easily accommodated our group of 9. The hot tub was a pleasant surprise, we used it often. Walmart is just around the corner for anything you might need. Carolyn and Bill are excellent hosts ... communication and tour when we arrived were second to none.

Bad Experience!

Bad experience! Was not aware when we reserved the cottage that a neighbor is only 50 feet away with a large dog. Our dogs wanted to visit his dog and vice versa, neighbor got nasty, cursed at my 81 year old husband in front of our grandchildren and threatened to call the sheriff. Cottage owner blamed us rather than understanding the situation, and put some extreme ‘rules’ in place. That was enough to ruin our family reunion. Walkway to the lake is hazardous with tree roots, my husband tripped and fell, 12 year old grandson tripped and cut himself, no lights at night making it even more hazardous. Major amenity (hot tub) that was in VRBO info when we reserved, and on current VRBO picture of the place, was not there, yet I was charged $45 for a tear in a screen. All in all, a week to forget!

So much fun!

We had a family group of 6 adults and 3 children under 10 and our dog. We rented the pontoon and had a great time fishing off it and just riding around the lake! We also fished off the pier and caught a lot there too. There is nearly everything you will need to cook a nice meal. From pots and pans to baking dishes and a crock pot. There are plenty of knives for chopping vegetables or cutting up your steak. The basement area has a room with a split king bed and a queen bed. There is also an area downstairs that has 4 twins! We spent more time upstairs-primarily because the lower level is very humid. The water does have an iron smell to it, but that is not unusual for the north woods area. There is an air conditioning unit in the family room upstairs that helps keep the kitchen and living room cooler. Carolyn was a great host and met us there when we arrived to give us a tour of the home and to show us where everything was. The hot tub was a hit with everyone! We had a rainy day to take a trip to the Children’s Museum in Eagle River. We went to the farmers market in Rhinelander and also stopped at Beesy’s meat market for some wonderful chicken, pork chops and steak. There was a grocery store Golden Market that had great organic foods. Everyone had a great time there!foods. everyone loved it!

Great family Week!

Our group of seven adults, four children, and one dog enjoyed our week in Carolyn's lovely home. The sandy,shallow beach area was perfect for "kid fun" on our floating lily pad. Pontoon rides and rides on our Big Mabel towable were lots of fun, too. The kids enjoyed watching and catching lots of smaller fish from the dock and the pontoon Looking across the lake we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere----but a short two-minute drive found us at Walmart for buying whatever we forgot or ran out of. If you're planning to invite extra daytime guests or bring a dog, be sure to visit with Carolyn ahead of time.

Great Location!

This was our first time in Minocqua (we usually stay in Conover). This property is just minutes from everything we wanted to do and if you like pan-fish (which we do) this lake is perfect. The kids loved fishing off the dock and wading in the water to fish and swim.

Northwoods Wisconsin at its best

Our family had a fabulous week at this wonderful house. There are many outside spaces where you can enjoy the beautiful setting. Kids loved swimming in the lake off the dock and from the beach. Adults kayaked, swam, fished, read, and eagle watched. The house was very clean and had everything and more that we needed. Carolyn is very friendly, responsive and accessible. Should we vacation in northern Wisconsin again, we will be reserving time here.

Great family vacation

It was a wonderful home. Plenty of room for 13 people. Everything you need in the home. The swimming area was fun. It was still like northern woods for campfire. Peaceful lake it’s small so no traffic on lake. Great for small children. Carolyn was a great host answered all questions.

Great property on a quiet lake

Very nice home and equipped with so many amenities and extras (lake floats, chairs, children's toys, etc.). Very comfortable beds. It is on a smaller lake, but quiet and relaxing. Just a short walk from house to sandy lake & dock, off of which many bass were caught!

Short week getaway in the North Woods

Great property. The best out-fitted VRBO home we have ever rented, with extra linens, blankets, towels and plentiful kitchen equipment. The property is beautiful! and the location hard to beat for convenience. Carolyn was fantastic in accommodating our needs up to and during our stay. We especially loved the time she took to speak French with our daughter. The one regret we had, was that we could not stay longer.

Great location and super swimming lake

this house fits many people which is nice, the best thing about it was the use of the pontoon and the dock and beach! If you have a group that likes to be close to the town, and the beach-you are in luck. Carolyn is super nice and very helpful.

Lovely lakeside home

We really enjoyed our stay . Loved the loons on the lake and the eagles soaring overhead! The house was super clean upon arrival and Carolyn gave us a wonderful introduction to all the features and amenities. We had everything we needed and more. We cooked all of our meals and loved sitting at the table on the deck looking out at the water.

My husband Bill and I having been enjoying the Minocqua area since our marriage in 2000. I, however, have been enjoying the north woods my entire life. I was lucky enough to be born and raised in Minocqua, Wisconsin. I always loved the area but did not realize how truly blessed I was until I left the area during my college years. I knew then that I would work as hard as I needed to to be able to have my own North Woods get-away one day.

Why they chose this property

If you are looking for your own private beach with clear water and sandy bottom, look no further. This piece of paradise sleeps 13 with 5 sleeping areas, all with large windows and lake view. 3 large bedrooms plus 2 bonus sleeping areas in the fully exposed lower level. Sleeping areas 4 and 5 have a custom room divider system with 10 84" curtains for maximum privacy. Each has 1 king or 2 twins based on your preference. This lower level has twin 8' windows plus a French door with lake view as well. In addition there is a second large gathering room. Located at the end of quiet road this home is a peaceful retreat with a large grassy yard on the lake side making it a safe play area for kids of all ages. A grill is ready for your favorite steaks or brats. A brand new black stainless steel refrigerator has room for your favorite meals in addition to an extra refrigerator and stand up freezer in the garage for beverages and your extra fruits, veggies and meats. Enjoy life at it's finest!

What makes this property unique

This home sleeps 13. The master with private bath has a king bed and twin closets, as well as a French door opening to your own private deck. Wake to a beautiful view of the sunrise. Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and a twin for your family. There is a dresser for your clothes as well as a closet. Bedroom 3 has a king bed and a queen bed as well as a dresser and closet. Bonus sleep areas 4 and 5 have 1 king or 2 twins each for extra guests. All areas have large windows with lake view and a view of nature at its best. Dining room has French doors opening up to the deck. The great room has a field stone fireplace, ceiling to floor windows and a French door opening to the brand new cedar deck. The exposed lower level has a large family room with 2 ceiling to floor glass windows for the perfect 2nd gathering space. The French door leads to a patio with comfortable wicker furniture. Enjoy!!
