Maple Ridge - Charleston Lake Ontario

Enjoy a true Canadian summer experience on spectacular Charleston Lake famous for its crystal clear water, excellent fishing and natural wildlife. Boasting over 100 miles of shoreline, and over 200 islands this large deep lake is the perfect place to spend a holiday. Our property is easterly facing providing beautiful sunrises, and some afternoon shade for hot summer days. Excellent swimming from dock or wade in from gentle shore, perfect for children.

Maple Ridge cottage is conveniently located close to the village of Charleston where there is a marina, boat launch and boat rentals as well as a restaurant and ice cream parlour.

Home is clean, comfortable and has a well stocked kitchen. Water cooler available for those whose wish to bring a water jug. For added comfort, each room has either ceiling or floor fan. Pre-approval of extra guests required.

Cottage includes BBQ, Dock Slip & use of a canoe as well as a fire pit!

This property has three rental cottages. Maple Ridge being the middle property (Sleeps 8), and the boat house which has living quarters above (sleeps 5). Rent all the properties together or individually. See last photo showing all two cottages.

Charleston Lake is located in South Eastern Ontario, just north east of Gananoque. The lake is carved out of the Frontenac Axis, a relatively narrow extension of the Canadian Shield bedrock which dominates the landscape of Northern Ontario. The lake is the principal watershed for the Gananoque River, and boasts prime fishing locations. Charleston Lake Provincial Park is located on the shores of the lake, and offers camping, hiking, boating, fishing and interpretive sessions.2]

Charleston Lake has over 100 miles of shoreline and over 100 islands with over 800 summer and permanent residences on the lake. The water surface is 26.2 km2, and the maximum depth is 91.1 m. A naturally occurring rock and tree formation shows a profile of the guardian of Charleston Lake known as Indian Head. Other than Charleston Lake Provincial Park, the County Park and Sand Bay are excellent destinations for day trips.

For five years culminating in 2005, Charleston Lake was the site for re-introduction of the peregrine falcon with the Canadian Peregrine Foundation, Ontario Power Generation and Leeds County Stewardship Council

Easy check in and great communication. Very clean and exactly as described. Fully loaded kitchen. The use of canoes and kayaks was great, teens did alot of fishing. Lots of seating areas outside. We were a group of 7 and it was perfect.

A gem of a cottage

The cottage was better than the description. Clean and well-equipped. There are just too many good things to say about this place. We had family from 1 year old to 65 and the cottage was great for all of us. Great swimming area and boat and fishing dock.

Clean Accomodations

We spent 2 nights at Mikes cottage. The cottage was very clean and check in was easy. It’s not very private, as the other cottages/cabins are several feet apart, but if that’s not a big deal for you, I would recommend.

Nice gem on the lake

This was perfect getaway during our family visit. The property is absolutely stunning and we couldn’t have asked for more. Everything was exactly as posted online and the owner, Mike , was a really nice guy, even when we locked ourselves out by accident. He responded within a couple minutes and we were back in quickly. The fire pit and canoeing was a added bonus to the property which we loved the most. Thanks for such a beautiful stay- we will definitely be back!! Chris and Dionne

Great cottage, but not accessible for all

Property not accessible for my husband, he uses an electric wheelchair. The deck and cottage were accessible, but to get from the car to the cottage was quite a difficult thing for him. Also the stairs down to the firepit and dock did not have a railing all the way.

We had a wonderful time! It was a lovely cottage, liked that it wasn’t too far from the water. We enjoyed using the kayaks and canoe and the fire pit in the evening for roasting marshmallows. It was spacious enough for 8 of us. The bbq needs some TLC, we couldn’t use it the second night to cook our food, needs a good cleaning.

Nice cottage and lake
