This property has been completely remodeled to give you the modern amenities and luxuries of a 5 star hotel. This home takes you back to 1940’s Balboa Island. The minute you step inside the front door, you’ll notice the details, from the original wood floors to the charming gas fireplace. This unit has a front house with 2 bedrooms and 2 large bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a living room / dining room area to enjoy! A garage for parking your vehicle, perfect during the summer months! AC and Wifi throughout the home.
The back unit is a separate loft area with 2 bunk beds ( sleeps 4 ). This loft has a kitchenette and a bathroom with shower. It’s a great home for two couples to share, especially if they have children. A perfect spot for kids to hang out, with it’s large television and Xbox system.

This vacation rental is definitely 5 star!

Second time staying here and it was just as excellent as the first time. Lovely decor, great amenities, comfy beds, and everything you could want for a wonderful stay on the island. If you’re looking for a perfect get away, this cottage is the place to stay.

A Little Gem

Pristine Cottage

This property is our favorite of all VRBO’s we have rented. It is conveniently located, clean as a whistle, a layout perfect for entertaining, and a cozy living room complete with TV, fireplace and two comfortable couches for lounging.

Coral Cottage sets the standard for 5 stars

This was not our first stay at Coral Cottage and it hasn’t changed. It still has that newly renovated beach cottage feel with all the accessories that made us feel right at home. There is so much thought put into the preparation for each guest and we truly appreciated the effort.

Cottage Charm

This is our third stay at this perfect gem on Balboa. It is so beautifully organized with every amenity you could think of, great location, immaculately kept, and great decor. The loft over the garage is such a great room I almost wanted to camp out up there for a night. Really a great stay!

Corral Cottage - A hidden gem

This was our second summer staying at the Corral Cottage, and once again, it exceeded our expectations. Kristin has created an immaculate, organized, and beautiful home that truly feels like a getaway haven. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the thoughtfully arranged spaces to the spotless cleanliness throughout the entire property. Cozy Comfy Christmas Get-A-Way

Don’t hesitate to book!! We enjoyed our stay here so much! Well equipped with so many extras that are not normally provided with a VRBO. The bedding was so comfortable!! My mother-in-law who stayed with us is on a mission to buy those bed pillows. Totally top notch! I could go on and on about the many things that made this place the best VBRO we have ever stayed at. I will share the two negatives- Balboa Island is difficult to get on and off of after 3:30 PM during the Christmas week and the water pressure for the showers wasn’t great. This should no way overshadow all the pluses. I would definitely stay here again! Garage was spacious. We had a mini van and it fit in perfectly with extra room. Also, just to share that the bunk room over the garage was perfect for our adult children. So much privacy for them and us.

Our stay at the charming Coral Ave Cottage was fantastic. The house and loft are so well decorated and well stocked, modernized, spotless and clearly well maintained. All of the amenities are premium and many unexpected items like pots and pans, spices, coffee, tea and sweeteners, storage are included, Every potential need is thought about and handled. The host is wonderfully communicative and we had the best time. Cannot say enough good things! We would love to come back!

Recent stay at Balboa Island Cottage

This little cottage was a gem and feel blessed to have stayed here. Much appreciation to the owners for providing a superb experience, would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it. It was very clean, bright, well decorated, comfortable beds and incredibly organized down to the tiniest detail, providing everything needed for a comfortable stay. I don't know Kristin personally, but wish I could drag her to TX to organize my house.

Simply charming

This Cottage is so well thought out, every space is maximized with amazing detail. All the perfect essentials you need, plus some fun bonus surprises, like games, a record player, beach essentials, outdoor shower if you are sandy, etc. The owner is very responsive if you need her, beyond that, it is such a comfortable charming home. Wonderful Fourth of July week

Our week was wonderful at this property. The house was darling, so beautifully decorated and every attention to detail was taken care of. The kitchen had absolutely everything we needed during the week to make meals at home. We were comfortable, and the loft Space upstairs was absolutely perfect for kids. The owners were wonderful to work with, and they did everything to make sure our stay was comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful week at your home!

Beautiful Home

This is the cleanest, most beautiful best decorated house I’ve ever stayed at. It was like the Four Seasons. The house large beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms. The living with fireplace is perfect for sitting and talking. There is lots to do on the island and there are many house to rent, but this is the one you want. It’s PERFECT!

Our stay was amazing!

The Balboa island house was absolutely incredible, everything perfectly thought out. You don’t need to bring anything with you and it’s within walking distance to anything you might want to do or eat. We never left the island once we arrived. It worked perfect to have the back house for our kiddos and grandparents in front house. Everything was just perfect!! Kris was very accommodating for everything we needed while we there!! We will back!

Beautiful Balboa Gem

My family has stayed in a number of homes on Balboa Island over the years and none compare to this beauty. The home itself is clean, beautifully appointed, and the prefect amount of space. We shared the home with 4 adults and 2 children. It was a wonderful and comfortable amount of space for all of us. The home has everything you could need for a wonderful easy stay with all the comforts of home. There is truly nothing the owner of this property hasn’t thought of. Kris was amazingly easy to communicate with throughout our stay, and even sent a reminder about trash collection. We absolutely loved everything about this home, we only wish we could have stayed longer. It was the perfect weeklong getaway and we hope to be back next year.

Full of Surprise & Delight

Our family of three spent six days at Coral Cottage and loved every minute of it. The cottage looks just like the pictures and is set up like a fine hotel. A place for relaxation, Balboa Island is reminiscent of simpler times. Here are my top three "surprise and delights" from our stay: 1) The kitchen - it is fully stocked, including a deluxe salad spinner! We cooked every day and came home with ideas for gadgets to add to our own kitchen collection. 2) The boardgames stash - we played Clue and Uno each night (and could have dove into Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit, if we'd had the stamina!). The dining room table is the perfect place for eating and gaming. 3) The botanical garden quality flowers - we walked the island at least twice/day and saw and smelled something different each time. It never got old. Kris is the most accessible, friendly host, someone who clearly revels in creating memorable experiences for her guests. We highly recommend Coral Cottage and look forward to returning soon.

What an amazing property!

Amazing cottage in an amazing location! The owners don’t miss a trick! 1). Has to be the cleanest vacation rental I ve stayed in. 2) has to be the most planned and thought out organization and array of amenities of any vacation rental ( or hotel for that matter) in the area 3) the owners must be interior designers as the attention to detail and appointments are exquisite. 4) the owners are extremely responsive, communicative, and helpful with local referrals. 5) three full bedrooms and three baths made relaxing and privacy a treat for all . 6) the bedding- the best! 7) the kitchen- a delight! 8) the location- come on—An island village full of charm!? What’s not to love! 9) did we mention the ocean? The boats? The ferry? 10) a weekend of memories with family celebrating a birthday! Well look at that! A perfect10! Thank you for providing and sharing such a beautiful space!

A Soul Soothing Sanctuary by The Sea

Over the last 15 years I have stayed at many Vrbo properties, here in the U.S. and in Europe.. After an exhaustive search last year for a place in Newport Beach I found Kris Vitale's Coral Cottage. Initially I wanted 3 weeks however life and Covid got in the way of those plans and her calendar filled up quickly so when a 12 day window opened in October I booked it and it was perfect from the first moment to departure. This level of overall quality and attention to detail is rare when renting a vacation home. In my opinion the most important thing to say about Kris and her Coral Cottage is that she has no equal in the hospitality business. The home itself is immediately warm, welcoming, beautiful and comfortable. Every item you could possibly need is in a drawer or closet, all of it arranged in an orderly and organized fashion. Every surface pristinely clean and fresh. The best quality and healthiest products for cleaning, hand washing, laundry and showering. The linens and towels were truly amazing. Thickest bath towels I've seen in a vacation rental. All cabinetry, doors and drawers in perfect condition. Perfect lighting in each room with dimming features. These homes on the island are all VERY close to each other and we heard no noise at all from neighbors or cars so the sound insulation or construction of this home is first rate. As other reviewers have mentioned the home is a quick and easy walk to plenty of shopping for food or dining out or clothing or gifts. Walking around the entire island is a daily treat. We hired a boat for a couple of hours to go around the bay. We are returning in April. If you are searching for an experience in sanctuary type comfort do not hesitate to book this home. Apparently a lot of people feel as I do because the calendar fills up fast. Mahalo Kris. It was beyond what we could have hoped for. Thank you.

I’ve always loved the simpler times. This home makes me feel good, like I stepped into the past. Of course, it’s fully equipped with all the modern technology of today.
Our goal was to try and make our guests feel the charm back when this home was built. Built in 1938, with all the precious details. We restored the original hardware and fixtures. We even decorated the home with photographs that were taken during 1940’s Balboa. Our place has style and class. It’s cozy and comfortable. Not to mention, all our linens and beds are luxury, 5 star.
