Historic Governor's Home w/ Pool, Near French Quarter

Summary:

Historic charm flows from this New Orleans gem. Originally constructed in the 1830's, this newly renovated mansion is the perfect place for your New Orleans getaway. Featuring an expansive backyard, a well-appointed kitchen, original hardwood floors & brick fireplaces, the Governor's Mansion is your home away from home. Drive 5 minutes to City Park or walk 5 blocks to the French Quarter. Home is located near commercial Claiborne Ave/ I-10 which can be busy & there is potential for street noise.



The Space:

Sleeps 10, backyard available for use. Kitchen stocked to prepare any meals, Keurig with coffee provided. Lovely living room and kitchen with breakfast bar + dining room. All bathrooms come with essentials such as 3-in-1 shampoo/conditioner/bodywash and fluffy towels!



Please note that the pool is not headed and is only available to use Mid March through November . Additionally, our WiFi is 5G and sometimes is slow during holidays when there are more visitors than normal using the local cellular networks. This includes special events like jazz fest, Mardi Gras, Halloween, New Years Eve, when there are a million extra visitors on our city’s network.



Property is located next to Claiborne avenue / I-10 and has potential for noise as claiborne is a busy commercial avenue.

Property was incredible for a group trying to have a great weekend. Plenty of sleeping spaces, comfortable beds, working oven and stove top, The outdoor area was fantastic with the picnic tables, grill and pool. Walking to main areas of Bourbon Street was incredibly easy and only about 15 minutes walking or less at a normal pace. Communication was always easy and incredibly responsive. Even being next to the highway, noise was never once an issue. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to hangout as a group and enjoy a weekend in NOLA.

Our stay was great! We had a smoke detector that beeped for low battery and Mario came and took care of it right away. He was wonderful and professional. The quick communication made it feel as if Shane and his team truly cared about us and our trip. The house is historic and had everything we needed. If you’re looking for a house for a big group that immerses you in Nola history this is the house for you!

Beautiful, historic home in a perfect spot for so many New Orleans’ experiences. We walked most places and saw the greatest sights of the city. We appreciated the deck and the fenced yard as we had perfect weather!

The hot water needs to be looked at I had the shower the first of the day and there was only hot water for a couple of minutes. The security system needs batteries. It was a lot of room for the money. The quiet time is a little questionable the road noise from interstate 10 is loud all the time.

Nice looking on the inside. Keep an eye out for the area near the back yard. House is old and the climate is super humid so be understandable that things made of wood can rot down and break pretty easy. We personally had a problem with leftover nicotine pouches found all around the pool area and our dog ate one. This whole craziness happened that lead to a vet bill, but the host group were very good about working us on pet fees and reimbursement of the vet bill. Back to the location, its very close to I-10 overpass so it can get loud due to passing cars and a lot of people tend to gather under the overpass. These groups gathering under the overpass can range from car clubs to food trucks and people selling stuff. It tends to change from night to night. I would say this property is great for groups looking to party in town, not so much for families.

The house is beautiful and more than enough room for our group. Easy walk to the French Quarter. Even though it is a pretty busy street and super close to the interstate - the outside noise was not an issue and did not disrupt our sleep. The back yard area is fenced and relaxing. The hosts were helpful for the quick question that we had. Great sray!
