About this property
Charming, historic riverfront lodge on 7 wooded acres with 6 bedrooms
The Dan de Lion Lodge is a charming, historic home, built in 1918, as a "speak easy" during Mobile's prohibition era. Later it was converted to a home and added on to for family fleeing Nazis during World War II. Newly renovated, it is perfect for family gatherings, retreats, grilling, boating, fishing, watching mullet jump and relaxing sunset viewing on the wharf. Nestled among 7 acres of Live Oaks and Palmettos on the banks of beautiful Dog River, this house is only 15 minutes from Downtown Mobile; a city famous for being the birthplace of Mardi Gras, delicious Gulf seafood and several antebellum homes in its 600 blocks of historic districts. World famous Bellingrath Gardens is 30 minutes to the south and the beautiful white sand beaches of Dauphin Island are 45 minutes away.

This house is amazing!!! It was perfect for our needs. Our youngest daughter was getting married in the Mobile area and we needed an HQ for college graduation and the wedding. We had plenty of room for all of our extended family that traveled in for the festivities. There are so many little bonuses throughout the house - down to the fresh clippings spread throughout in tiny antique bottles. The weekend was full of rain so we didn't get to use the yard and deck as much as we had hoped, but a few did get to kayak and it was super fun for them. The rooms show off the 103 history of the house and yet the bathrooms and kitchen have been updated "just enough" to make it an easy place to stay. The hot water heater is on demand and so we never ran out of hot water - even with a house full of daughters and bridesmaids! I can't recommend this house enough. It was such a joy to stay there. My daughter was showing it off to one of the bridesmaids that came into town and make the statement, "I get to wake up in this house on my wedding day!"
We loved spending time in your lovely home! Everything was just perfect and our family gathered there for great food and visiting! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy family and food in such beautiful surroundings!
This is our family’s 4th Christmas staying here & we absolutely love it! This house is so unique & has so much charm. We love the private lot away from a busy road, our adult kids love playing games on the lawn & hanging out on the dock. Some new pan’s & Tupperware were added this year, a nice surprise. Maybe next year a new mattress in the room closest to the deck! We love the history of this home, it has made our Christmases magical! * for those who have never been, this house is OLD the floors aren’t level, the decor is quirky, if that bothers you this isn’t the place for you. Which is great, because we LOVE IT!
Words cannot describe this place! Be prepared to stock up on food as you will not want to leave, the dock, the porches, the wildlife, the beds everything was perfect and wished we could have stayed longer. Marbury was an excellent host with clear communication and the place is better than described, the photos do not do it justice and would highly recommend.

Everything about thos home was amazing. It felt like we were transported back into time. The grounds were so beautifully kept and the home is a total gem. Plenty of room for our party of 8 and over all we were very comfortable.
Absolutely amazing time to gather with family & enjoy this home & it's surrounding area. Thank you for blessing us with the opportunity to create life lasting memories. Family from Minnesota, South Dakota joined here to celebrate my son's graduation from USA. Even in the Gulf Coast heat in July we enjoyed every minute!!

We loved having this group at the DandeLion Lodge! So glad it worked well for y'all!!
This was a great place for a big group of friends to stay at for a long weekend. Right on the water which we really enjoyed and it was private with plenty of parking for our large group. Host was prompt and kind. Thanks!
Beautiful property full of history. Loved the river vibes. Be sure to give additional instructions if receiving deliveries! Don’t forget your bug spray and river shoes if you venture to the dock too. Overall amazing stay!
What a gorgeous spot to hang out! Charming, historic home, quiet, water-side setting. I think we’ll be coming back next year—next time we’ll allocate less time on the golf course and more time here.

Jared and his group were stellar lodgers! They took great care and are welcome back anytime!
Love the property. This is our second stay here. Everyone loved the dock, fire pit area and large dining table. We fished, swam, roasted marshmallows and played dominoes. It was great!
Nice home but quirky and kind of old fashioned. I’m sure lots of people love homes like this because it’s very unique but I thought it was just ok. The dock and access to the river was amazing. Worker out well for a few guys in town for work but I probably wouldn’t stay here with my family. Again, ok but not great.
