About this property
Private Family Cabin on Creek w/ Hot Tub - Kid & Dog Friendly, Grill & Fireplace
ABOUT THE PROPERTY
Escape the hustle and bustle of city life by spending a long weekend, the kids’ fall break, or a Christmas vacation at our tranquil and secluded property, tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Elk Falls Cabin is a large (yet quaint) rental home that sits on a creek with a pedestrian bridge and an abundance of land for kids and dogs to run around on. Our 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath retreat hosts up to 8 people and is surrounded on all sides by breathtaking views of North Carolina forestry.
THE FIRST FLOOR
The bottom level is predominantly open space, with an adjoining living room, dining room, and kitchen. It also has a 1/2 bathroom and washing machine/dryer area for your laundry. The master bedroom features a queen bed, a smart TV, a large closet, multiple dressers, and a view of the creek. The adjacent, double-vanity bathroom offers plenty of storage and counter space for two people and even has a 2-person jacuzzi bathtub for relaxation or bonding with your spouse.
The living area comes furnished with two sofas, two lounge chairs, a smart TV, and a remote-operated propane fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped with a 6-burner gas stove, modern appliances, cooking/eating utensils ... even paper towels! It features an island flanked with bar stools for additional cooking/eating space.
THE SECOND FLOOR
The upstairs has two additional bedrooms and a shared full bathroom. Bedroom #1 comes with a double-size bed, smart TV, desk, large dresser and closet, and view of the creek. Bedroom #2 offers a full-size and twin-size bed with a large dresser and access to plenty of closet space.
The upstairs bathroom includes a shower (stocked with shampoo and conditioner) and plenty of fresh towels. We even have a Pac ‘n Play and highchair for your little ones!
ENTERTAINMENT
Located just 3 miles from I-40 and 20 minutes to Publix, Ingles, and other shops/restaurants, this vacation getaway is the perfect option for folks who want to enjoy the privacy of nature but also want the option to explore the area.
Enjoy wildlife sightings, hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, and historical sites nearby. Maggie Valley (roughly a 10-minute drive) offers a wide range of restaurants, shops, and fun activities like elk tours, scenic UTV outings, the festival fairgrounds, and access to the Cataloochi ski resort. Kids can enjoy mini golf, tubing, and gold mining. There is even a child-friendly "Escape Room" called Maggie Valley Puzzle Rooms.
Want to stay on the property? Great! Cook in the large, open kitchen or on the charcoal grill. Enjoy meals on the covered deck. Relax with a book or glass of wine by the creek. Catch up with old friends or your significant other in the spacious hot tub. Even jump on a last-minute video call with speedy WiFi.
SAFETY & CLEANING
A marked security camera is on the front exterior of the house. The flat gravel drive provides easy access for virtually any type of car. Because the house is tucked away, you will not have to worry about random people wandering onto the property.
We strive for the best in cleaning practices to ensure the cabin is impeccable for your stay. On principle, we do not do back-to-back reservations, allowing us some wiggle room to clean and stock thoroughly.

About the host
Hosted by Catherine A Johnson

My husband, George, and I moved to Waynesville, NC about 7 years ago from the West Coast. We own a few rental properties and absolutely love it here! We live in the area ourselves, so if there are any issues or concerns, we can be readily available.
Why they chose this property
Waynesville and Maggie Valley have a great “small town” feel to them, with both locals and tourists being quite friendly, polite, and helpful. Both towns have an assortment of great restaurants and gift shops, but the scenery is what really sold us on the area. You can’t find a more beautiful area come Fall and Spring. The cabin is in close proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway which hosts dozens of hiking trails for all experience levels.
What makes this property unique
We love the tranquility and privacy of the cabin. If you are trying to get away from the madness of the “real world”, the Elk Falls Cabin is perfect for some R&R. The canopy created by the surrounding trees keeps the area cool during the hot summer days and offers a breathtaking view in autumn when the leaves change color. If you sleep with the windows open at night, you can hear the soothing sound of gurgling from the on-site creek.
