In size and in style, the house has a family vibe. You can feel the presence and joy of those who lived here. Huge, rambling, cozy, inviting. The house is a little rough around the edges, it could use a little paint. We have rented for several years.
Another wonderful family vacation. There was something for everyone. The new dryer was a greatly appreciated addition this year. Kayaking and fishing were great. The game room is always a hit. We love that we can all fit at one table.

It's an honor to be the host home for your family gatherings. Please let the little lady know I got her note and thank you for sharing :)
Stayed here for a few days while visiting family in Syracuse for a celebration of life. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and all the property had to offer, including the river access and game room. Would highly recommend!

So glad it worked for your family! If your ever in the area we would live to have you back.
Plenty of room for large groups; lots of things to do in the house n around it; host was responsive n helpful; house is older n needs some basic upkeep - re-painting, repairing of the dock; game room in the basement was a big hit!

I let Penny know prior to arrival that it wouldn't stop raining and because of that the painting of the house had been delayed. The river was so high the dock frame was under water and the top couldn't be installed. The Spring 2025 had massive rain and some flooding in the area :(
The River Affairs property served our family very well! The substantial size of the property made it private and relaxing. We enjoyed some wonderful family time sunbathing, swimming, fishing, kayaking, along with yard games and then in the evening we would enjoy our time circled around a bonfire. The house is as equally spacious as the property is and is well equipped and met all of our needs. Everyone, young and old found enjoyment in the game room with the many activities it offers. My personal favorite was the very large dining room table that allowed our three generation family to sit down and enjoy meals together in one place. The owner was very helpful and made it known that she was readily available if needed. We would most definitely stay here again! Great experience!
Perfect spot for our family. A large farmhouse with plenty of space and bedrooms. Not elegant, but cozy and welcoming. Boats, great game room, huge yard with spot for bonfire.
We had a nice stay. The house is eclectic with a lot of charm and space. The view was amazing. The only downside was the bees outside.

Glad the space worked for your event! Unfortunately, summer in upstate we do encounter the flora and fauna in their natural habitat. When we are aware of it, all efforts are made to keep it at bay.
Another wonderful family vacation. There was something for everyone. Canopy near dock and second refrigerator were greatly appreciated additions this year. Kayaking, fishing and floating were great. The game room is always a hit with the kids.
We spend a great time at the beautiful river house
It was a great experience for our 8 persons group. We had a lot of fun fishing at the river. House is huge. Owners are vary nice. We will definitely go back to our new favorite place again!

Thank you for the kind words. I am glad everythingl worked out for you and your group.
Because of the spaciousness of the house, each family had their own bedroom. We enjoyed the water recreation with boating , fishing, and kayaking... The days it rained, the game room was great for family fun...
We needed a big house with a few showers. This house was 20 minutes from the race track and was absolutely perfect for what we needed. Owners were very accommodating and fast responders to messages. HIGHLY recommend this place, will definitely stay again!

Very nice rustic place. Visitors need to be ready that the place is not super new but it has a lot of charm. Everything you may need was available in the house. Huge property, no close neighbors. Amy was a great host with immediate communication.

Thank you Ioury, keep us in mind if you do this trip again.
We had 8 guests total for a trip to western NY. I chose this home as it had plenty of sleeping quarters and room in general. The home is somewhat secluded, although there are several very quiet neighbors surrounding. The kitchen and living areas were spacious, with plenty of utensils and dishes, and the game room on the basement and the river and firepit behind the property are wonderful outdoor touches. Overall, and wonderful stay and a lovely place.
Perfect for our family and early high school grandkids. Games, pool and pingpong and a large yard. Bonfire!! Swimming is icky for the seaweed but several kayaks and a canoe. Youth program everyday downtown Phoenix at the river.
We were guests last year with our children and grandchildren. Everyone had a great time so we returned. The property offers something for all ages and interests. Fishing, kayaking and boating is excellent, Spacious inside and out. Many little perks: AC, rec room, lots of tables for activities, large dining table, dock, and plenty of room for gather and creating family memories. Just need to be aware that geese wander onto the property and leave droppings.

Such a pleasure to have a returning guest. Thank you for the kind words, we look forward to hosting your family again!
Amy’s riverside cottage was PERFECT for our family getaway. The rustic feel of the cottage made it feel like we were at home. The property was spread out so when we needed space we had it. The extra things included it the property also made it very comfortable for our stay, most importantly the high chair for our infant and the large amount of toys and puzzles for our toddler. Aside from that, the game room in the basement made for great entertainment when the weather wasn’t ideal. Furthermore, the fishing just off the dock was some of the best. Every cast of your fishing rod guaranteed a beautiful fish. Definitely a for sure diamond in the rough if looking for a perfect place for a large family to get together.

Thanks for the beautiful review! We loved your fish list on the chalkboard. So glad it worked for your family :) you'll are welcome back anytime.
Was a beautiful place and a great time with the family!
Not happy about being charged extra for cig butts in and around the fire pit. Was never in the contract that we would be charged and to be consider that to be property damage is unheard of. Trying to get an understanding on this is difficult and we took out extra insurance for any accidental property damage just because you never know and that didn’t cover it we were still charged extra.

I am glad you find it " beautiful" as mentioned in your review. Imagine if all my guest left litter behind, it wouldn't be so enjoyable. Cigarette butts are mentioned in the lease and reviewed in person. Most people get the point. We don't take kindly to butt litter. It was well known you were expected to pick up your butts. You and your family assured me it wouldn't be an issue, 20 butts later it became an issue. I continued to find more after I sent you the video.
We were looking for a home with swimming and other activities to keep a family gathering occupied. Also, the bed configuration/number of bedrooms was important and this place got the bill. So glad we listened to all the other positive reviews - this place was loads of fun and Amy goes above and beyond my expectations as a host! Everything we needed to make full use of the property was there - from life jackets to firestarters. The A/C units worked great (it was a very hot week in August) and the kiddos in our group loved the game room and the books and toys provided. Yes, you have to deal with nature and that includes looking out for goose poop but anyone knocking stars off a review for that probably didn’t enjoy all the vintage fun this place had to offer. So many of the older (perfectly maintained and functional) items were an enjoyable “blast from the past”.
We all enjoyed our time there and we thank Amy for sharing her home with us!
When I heard that 7 family members were flying across the country to celebrate my son's graduation from Syracuse, taking time off of work and counting this as their vacation, I felt the pressure to show them a good time. I couldn't have booked a better vacation home than River Affairs. We used the canoe and kayaks, spent hours in the game room playing pool and ping pong, and lingered over meals around the huge dining room table. We all enjoyed the fantastic views of the river, from inside the house as well as from the huge back yard. We had a fire outside almost every night. And yes, the geese leave a lot of droppings, but they are so fun to watch--we saw new goslings in tow every day. So cute! I really appreciated the first floor bedroom & bath for my parents who don't like to climb stairs. The location was ideal--close to groceries, pizza and restaurants, and an easy drive to & from the airport. And if it looks too far from SU to be convenient for campus events, believe me, it's not. It's all freeway, so we made it to and from campus in 15-20 minutes consistently. Amy and Aaron are excellent, responsive hosts and I highly recommend a stay at their lovely River Affairs house. I would give it more stars if I could!

Thank you for all the kind words, I agree with everything you said ;) The dining room chairs are from Adirondack Furniture in Syracuse and it's amazing how long you can sit and enjoy. It was a pleasure sharing this space with you. Come back again!
We had a lovely vacation at River Affairs. It was the perfect place for our three-generation gathering of family and friends. The house was very spacious and clean, with views of the Oneida River from almost every room. The kitchen is very well stocked and organized. A huge table seats 12. There's a wonderful grill that we used almost every night, but if grilling isn't your thing there are two ovens and a stove top. There are spices and olive oil and other accoutrements provided by the host of things that you might have forgotten along with plenty of plates/cutlery/cookware. My friends really enjoyed the various blenders and cocktail shakers provided for fancy drinks but there is plenty of refrigeration space in the extra coolers in the basement for beer/pop drinkers like me and my husband.
Each bedroom had an air conditioner and the linens were fresh, plenty of pillows and blankets. One large room is perfect for kids to sleep together dormitory-style. The host had set out 4 kayaks and a canoe for us and a dock where we could tie up our two boats. They also provided tubes which were really nice to have while the kids were swimming. The driveway had plenty of room for several cars and two boat trailers. There are life vests of every size hanging in the entryway. A game room off the kitchen has loads of board games and toys ranging from toddler to adults. It barely rained on our trip but if it had we might have made better use of the additional basement game room which was huge, with a seating area, wii, pool table, foosball, and air hockey. There is also a boat house that is under renovation but made for a great backdrop for a photoshoot for our soon to be one year old, and would be a great background for a family reunion photo if you chose to do so here.
The fishing was absolutely spectacular. Our stay was in early June. We caught everything from tiny rock bass to giant largemouth bass. Grandpa even landed a nice sized pickerel! We had our fishing boats but most of the fish I caught were just off the dock. The hosts raked the weeds but the weeds really weren't bad trolling either. Amy, the owner, was very helpful but also let us enjoy our stay once we were all settled in. There's really something for everyone here at this house and it is truly a very special place. The home was very comfortable and plenty of fun was had by all. We are definitely planning to go again. If I could go back and redo anything, I wouldn't have changed a thing.

The house was great for our summer stay in upstate NY. With 6 young kids the space, bedrooms and facilities were much appreciated. The quiet location on the river was also a big plus.
