Pretty close to perfect - actually can’t think of anything the house didn’t have. Super clean. Host was very helpful. Great location - very short walk to beach. There are two other rentals on property and we were fortunate that those weren’t rented so we had the whole property to ourselves. The other rentals would be perfect for a bigger family gathering and we’re already starting to think about that for next time. The main house which we rented this time was perfect for the 6 of us. We will certainly be back!
The owner and wife are great people. This property is in great condition and clean. Though you may be sharing public spaces and you will have to pay for the coin-operated, shared, washing and drying machines, the living space is nice and private. We did have issues with hot/cold shifting water, but the owner is working to solve that problem. If we go back to Maui again, we will stay here again.
Our daughter was married last Saturday. We wanted another week to relax. This place was perfect! Easy to get anywhere! Just a great spot!! We loved it!
Great communication and place. Super clean, place met all expectations. Harry and Linda were super helpful and helped us navigate the complexities of the Maui wildfires when we were there (this place was not affected by the fires). We will be back!
We stayed five nights and rented the main house. The house is very well equipped and the furnishings are all comfortable. The yard and surround property are very well taken care of. This really felt like we were staying at a friends house not a vacation rental. Harry and Linda are very nice people who went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The sunset views and proximity to the beach are outstanding
Wonderful property to introduce my beach loving niece and family. Beautiful three bedroom home with front covered patio area and deck over the carport for watching the beautiful Maui sunsets. This home sits across the road from a beautiful beach.

Amazing house
This house was amazing. It had everything we needed and was in a perfect location. The welcome basket was very much appreciated as well as the delicious homemade mango bread. Linda and Harry are great hosts and quickly respond to any questions we may have. If I came back to Maui, I would love to be back in this property.

Aloha,
Harry and Linda
We had a wonderful vacation staying at Harry and Linda’s beautiful family home in Kihei. The house was extremely clean and comfortable for our 6 person family, great for both grandparents and teens. It’s across the street from a great beach, centrally located for all island excursions and close to the best food on Maui. Harry and Linda were generous and kind hosts that made us feel so welcomed with the true Aloha spirit. We will definitely be back!
Wonderful hosts, met us on property and gave us a tour and instructions! Something for everyone with a short walk across the street to beach. We enjoyed coffee on the new observation deck on carport, really nice view of the ocean! We grilled one evening and ate on the patio! Our adult children and spouses agreed this was a 10 outa 10 holiday in Maui! Stay here you will love it!
The property and house were as advertised, both beautiful and comfortable. The winds on sugar-beach were stronger than we anticipated but there is no predictability to the weather. Our hosts were friendly and accommodating. We would recommend this rental to others. A rental car would be required here but the close proximity to the beach makes it well worth it.

VERY CLEAN, QUIET, GREAT LOCATION, AIRCONDITIONING WAS HEAVENLY
We are local people from Kauai and we all enjoyed our stay. It was nice to come home after long hours at our conferences to a “home” instead of a hotel/resort setting. We cooked mostly all our meals because it was well stocked with kitchen appliances and utensils. We were greeted by Harry who kindly gave us a tour of the place and shared a few tips of the area. They also blessed us with some homemade mango bread and local snacks.

Aloha Malia and Family,
We're glad that you liked your accommodations and that there were beds for everyone. I know that this trip was for "work" but maybe next time you can come for "play". Thank you so much for staying with us and we hope you will come stay with us again on your next trip to Maui!
Aloha and Mahalo,
Linda and Harry
This home is everything you need and more! Harry greeted us on arrival and went thru the home to explain everything for our convenience. Was perfect for the 5 of us. The beach is right across the street. We were able to run over for a swim in the mornings then see the wonderful sunsets every night. Perfect access to the entire island. We enjoyed the lawn games and beach toys. Thsnks Harry and Linda for allowing us to enjoy your wonderful home. Mahslo!
We loved the location & the home is perfect in every way. Being so close to the beach with the kayaks & paddle boards to use was so much fun!! Also there were beach chairs & umbrellas & snorkel gear & coolers to use!! I wish we could have stayed a lot longer!!! Harry was very friendly & such a great host. And we really appreciated the welcome basket that Linda greeted us with. Thank you for having all the amenities available!! Mahalo
We visited Maui with our son, a good friend of his, and his parents in celebration of their graduation. There were 6 of us in total, and there was more than enough space for all of us. We've stayed a many VRBO's, and the communication and information we received from Harry & Linda all the way from the time we booked to the time we arrived was by-far the best. They had everything we needed (and then some). The location is wonderful. It is literally a 1-to-2-minute walk across the road to the beach, and because it is in a quiet area, we often had the beach to ourselves. There's a farmer's market and convenient store that's a short 5-minute walk away and grocery stores/restaurants/etc. less than a 10-minute drive away. I'd highly recommend staying at their home. We hated to leave.
Harry and Linda are great hosts. Fun having Harry show us around and get the family settled in.
Good location to see west side of Maui. Could come and go easily to get to many beaches, hikes, and food.
New carport has a good view out to the ocean and tip of Lanai in the distance to the west. I bet it would be great during whale season
Ocean water out front was a little churned up from the wind so could not snorkel in near shore area. Could see reefs ~100 yards out but did not make it. would love to come back and try again.
3 other units on same property had tenants in them and no conflict coming or going. Plenty of space and very quite.
wanted more then 5 days really relax and enjoy the property.

Great location, awesome home owners.
We loved our stay at this beach house. Harry and Linda were awesome to work with. They have put a lot of thought in to how to make their vacation rental property a home for those staying there. The island treats they provided was the icing on the cake and the mango bread was fabulous.
The kitchen is fully equipped and even has some of the common kitchen staples and spices. There are plenty of beach toys and gear for use as well as all of the linens you could use. The a/c units work very well and made our stay very comfortable.
There is a coin laundry on site, so make sure you have quarters available if you plan on washing laundry. They do provide detergent and softener which was greatly appreciated.
The location can’t be beat. There is a large yard with mango and coconut trees, we were in mango heaven! Access to the beach is right across the street. It was centrally located to most of the activities we did during our stay.
We definitely made memories that will last a lifetime and hope to stay here again!

Amazing property with EVERYTHING you need
We had such an amazing stay here for a week in June. My husband, our two daughters, my husband's parents, and I enjoyed everything about this house and its amazing yard and location. Everything was provided - and I mean everything. We'd think, "huh, I wonder if there's a xx" and we'd have it in hand with just a short search. Location was excellent, easy to get to the beaches, Sugar beach right across the street was lovely and empty and great for my little kids. Quick walk to the best shaved ice stand in the area (Ululani's), farmer's market, ABC for last minute things. Anything you could want for the beach was here, including umbrellas, boogie boards, chairs, tons of beach toys. House was spotlessly clean, and the nicest little touches, including carved wood door, custom tile, etc. Linda and Harry have really worked hard to make this a really excellent home, and they are so, so nice - even brought coloring books for my girls as we left for the airport. Should we every get the chance to go to Maui again, we will DEFINITELY rent here!!

Amazing location, wonderful hosts and beautiful scenery!
Our family of five stayed here for the week of Mar 22-31, 2017. What an amazingly wonderful experience to be able to stay in this beautiful, clean and spacious home. Linda's mango bread was to die for! Could have literally lived on that the whole time. 🤗 The gift basket was a beautiful thought and muchly appreciated. Harry and Linda met us when we arrived and were every bit as personable as they were on the phone. We had a little kerfluffle while booking, but they stepped up and made the process super easy and made us feel like they genuinely wanted to make sure we got the house for our holidays. I was a little worried when we realized just how busy the road in front of the house was, but the house is surprisingly quiet and what a view from the front yard. A literal two minute walk to the beach. If I had one little suggestion it would be to get rid of the coin operated laundry. (laundry soap and bounce sheets were provided tho) I know it was and is in the description of the property, but with a family of five you do go through a lot of quarters. Overall this place was absolutely everything and more than we expected. Very much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this home to other families looking for a great location and spacious place to spend their time in Maui.
Thank you so much Harry and Linda for letting us grace your home and beautiful state.
Aloha.

Mahalo,
Linda
We loved staying in this family home - comfortable, well-stocked, and clearly maintained with love and care. Harry and Linda were outstanding hosts, providing responsive and above-and-beyond care throughout our stay. Linda's mango bread was the icing on the cake! Great stock of yard games, beach toys, and other supplies for enjoying the local beach - just cross the street. We especially loved the mango tree in the yard - yum!

About the host
Hosted by LINDA AND HARRY VAN'T GROENEWOUT
I, Linda, was born in Puunene, Maui and raised in Kihei. My dad and mom, John and Clara Ventura bought this property back in 1932 when Kihei was not really popular because we were in the "boonies" and sparsely populated and prone to flooding! Kihei was more or less "wetlands". Kihei was just starting to have families buy and move from the sugar plantation housing. The only "hotel" for visitors was Maui Lu Resort on this side of the island! My dad was the first "real" Postmaster and after he married my mom she became his postal clerk. They both worked for the Post Office well into the 1970's and walked to work every morning, it was only 1 block! The original Post Office was located in the A & B (Alexander and Baldwin) plantation store/Post Office, behind where the now existing ABC Store is located, and then moved to where the now open air Farmer's Market is located. The now existing "new" Post Office is about 2 miles down the road in the Azeka 1 Plaza Shopping Center. My dad's family came from Portugal, Azores, and my mom's family came to Maui in 1923 from Hiroshima, Japan. I have 2 half brothers from my dad's first marriage (they are Hawaiian/Chinese/Portuguese), a half brother and sister (Texan and Japanese) from my mother's first marriage and my full brother and myself (Portuguese/Japanese) from this marriage. Very diverse family! I married Harry van't Groenewout (Dutch) in 1969. His family moved to Maui from Porterville, California in 1967. His family is originally from Holland, his parents worked with the Dutch underground during WW2, then moved with him and his brother to America. We have 2 grown children, Keoni and Kearston both are living with our 4 grandchildren in the Mainland. We love this business, making new friends and having them become our Ohana (family) and getting them acquainted with our island home, Maui!
Why they chose this property
We want to share with you the beautiful views and sunsets, looking out from my family's "homestead" property! We are centrally located to all of the venues Maui offers and easy access to the clean, not crowded, "kid friendly" beach, right across the street. We take our grandchildren to this beach whenever they come for visits, too.
What makes this property unique
Not crowded beach, quiet neighborhood and a short 30 second walk to the beach.
