Its central location makes walks to the beach to swim and relax just minutes away, or you can roam the farmer's market, shops, and many restaurants conveniently located nearby. There is also a shared, freshwater pool on-site if you'd rather stay close to home.
What's nearby: Take a short walk to Carlsmith Park next door for a dip in the ocean where the lagoons create calm swimming areas and provide protection from the surf. Keep an eye out for our local Hawaiian monk seal 'mama' and her children who sometimes pop up on shore in this neighborhood, but don't disturb them as they are very endangered.

Nice and clean 2 bedroom property in a great location in Hilo. Next to a beach that you can walk to and close to 2 other beaches. Perfect for a family of 4 that wants to explore all the sites on the Hilo side. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this condo if you plan to visit Hilo.

conveniently located relative to Hilo airport and some of the key attractions such as volcano national park, akaka falls, rainbow falls, kamauna caves. also next to Carlsmith beach park and a few others. lot of dining options within 10 - 15 min driving distance near Hilo downtown. good amenities.. good experience overall except there were some ants in kitchen (though manageable by not keeping food outside)
Quiet. Right beside Carlsmith beach and turtles! Clean. Beds could use new mattresses. No air conditioning but the fans worked well for the week we were there
Property has all necessities. The pool looked stained at the bottom/not exactly inviting, and the apartment was clean but needed upkeep/mx items fixed. Otherwise, it was a solid place and a great price.
Thank you for staying with us, Alan! We hope you had a great stay and that we have the opportunity to host you again soon!

Perfect for what we needed.
The unit had everything we needed for a great stay. Quiet location convenient to Hilo. Very cool park next door where we saw a sea turtle. Funky restaurant The Seaside Inn across the street. Although the furnishings are a bit dated it did not detract from their comfort. The unit was very clean and tidy. The whole complex is very safe and secure. Had a great stay.

Great location, almost perfect home
We loved the location. Views of Maunaloa were great when it wasn’t raining. It rained a lot! Only reason I’m not giving a 5 is because the dishes are way too high for my son and elderly mother to reach and there was some mold on the shower curtain. I would stay here again, though.

Being next door to Charlesmith beach is worth it all. Our favorite beach on the island. But it looks like Vacasa took over this listing from VRBO after we booked our stay, and I can’t see the original VRBO listing. I thought I recalled their being air conditioning and a view of the ocean from the Lanai, but the view is of the parking lot, and air conditioning now has a line run through it in the listing. There is no A/C. There is no dishwasher, even though we’ve been asked to run the dishwasher before we leave, and the laundry facilities are down the hall and require five dollars in quarters, with no change machine available.
Property was nice. Frying pan had baked on black frying residue and was warped high in the middle.
Wanted to watch TV, couldn't get it to work. Got to work once during the one day out of seven day stay, but never again. Overall a nice condo.

Lawrence, thank you for the review of your stay. We are glad you enjoyed the property. We apologize for the condition of the frying pan and the issues you had with the TV. Please know the local team is always available to assist with any issues you have. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope we can host you again!
easy 10 on customer service and location rooms alright.
Great locations, great customer service, we were staying in a unit on the 6th floor with good ventilation which made it easier not to have an AC something I was sure we needed in July. on the down side. The unit is a bit old. The bathroom has a vent style door meaning fumes get carried into living area. Still consider this a great choice.

Just OK
It was very difficult finding the keys in that old wood cabinet with all the other look alike key holders. The elevator key did not work properly. Had a hard time getting into the much too tall cabinets. Flies everywhere. T.V. was difficult and we had to get someone to fix the hook up. Just wasn't a very pleasant place to stay.

Barbara, we are disheartened to read that you experienced issues that kept you from fully enjoying your stay. We apologize for the difficulty you had finding the keys in the cabinet and our local manager noted that our lockboxes are labeled with Vacasa keychains. The elevator key is working but it can be a bit sticky and we're sorry for any inconvenience this caused. As our home is in a tropical environment, blister beetles can swarm this time of year and we advise guests to use limited lighting and keep the slider closed between 7 and 9 pm. We truly apologize for the issue with the TV and are glad our team could assist with this during your visit. We appreciate your feedback as we view it as an opportunity to improve and we hope to host you again for an improved stay in the future.
All app check in easy. Had to call to find out the parking spot. Thought I saw in a text but couldn't find when needed. The lock box was a mystery. I didn't know the code for theor how to open it. Clearer instructions on that whould be helpful. The property manager helped me. Location was great park next door, close to restaurants and a good 2 lane road.
Condo very comfortable with all of the fans. Nice selection of towels.
Suggested improvement a suction cup grab bar for the tub.

Thank you for your review, Kathrine. We are pleased to know that you had a wonderful stay with us. We are sorry for the minor discomfort caused by confusion in the check-in process and we are glad that it has been sorted. We value your feedback and the homeowner as well as the local team continues to work for the improvement of our homes. We look forward to hosting you for a great stay in the future.
Beds were extremely uncomfortable. They taco’ed rolling us both into the middle. Horrible pillows. It was very hot but the fans were very loud but didn’t move the air at all.
Annoyingly they only provide one key to get into the elevator, in/out pool and gate to beach. What if you are at the pool and one family member wants to go to the room, then everyone else would be stuck inside the gated pool as you need a key to exit that area as well as to get back up the elevator.
Location was gorgeous though.

Locked out
The property was nice but we lost our keys during the Merrie Monarch festival. The door code was incorrect so we couldn't get in.
The property manager did not have a spare key.
Vacasa chat never replied.
We were on hold for 45 minutes waiting for an agent to answer the phone.
I actually found my keys in a hotel craft fair before I ever heard back from a Vacasa.

No keys in the lock box when we arrived. We had to sleep in the rental car the first night.
Not having access to the room when we arrived after a full day of travel was the worst. We could not find a motel with any vacancy, so we slept in the rental car the first night. We were able to gain access to the room around 9am the next day. We saw a couple roaches. We had to wash any dishes before we used them every time, because there was a cockroach in the utensil draw when we first opened it. Maunaloa shores is right next to the airport so it was very loud most of the time if the windows were open. No Air conditioning so we had to keep the windows open. The room was OK / clean. No TV in the bedrooms. and the radio did not work. The antenna was broken off.

Response from VrboOwner on 21 Jun, 2023
Thank you for your review, Lyle. We sincerely apologize for the issues that you experienced upon arrival. Please know that this is not the typical standard our guests can expect and when issues occur, we make every effort to resolve them quickly and efficiently. We do feel it is important to note that our team assisted promptly upon these concerns being reported and we regret that this experience detracted from your vacation with us. We also deeply apologize for the pest issues you experienced during your stay and appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. Our homes are treated quarterly for pests, and our property manager has assured us that they are taking preventative measures to combat the entrance of unwanted critters. Regrettably, with the home's location, as well as the climate of the island, pests are not uncommon. We hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future.
This unit was clean and fresh smelling. The kitchen was great, the lanai was awesome, the beds were very comfortable. But checking in was quite the obstacle. First, you have to go by the mailboxes and find a wooden cabinet with about 50 lockboxes. We were instructed to find the lockbox with a I on it. There is no uniform system, some aren’t marked, some have letters on the back, some have numbers on the sides. I had to hold 30 lockboxes and look for a letter. After inspecting about 30, I found ours with the unit number. It is a dim lit area, and had a small light in the cabinet, but I still recommend bringing a flashlight, especially when dark outside. In the lockbox there were three keys. None were marked as to what they went to. Every time you had to use the elevator you had to try 2 or 3 times. Did anyone think of putting labels on them? The door to our unit had a 10 key lockbox and had to be 25 years old. We stay at Vrbo all the time, so we are experienced with lockboxes. You have to hit each key directly on center, and it would time out in about 4 seconds. We had to call and get 2 different codes. After at least 30 tries, we made it in. Once we got in, it was a very nice place. Later that day we tried to get in and had the same problem. Communication was good, we got a fast response, buts it’s a faulty system. We wanted to go out later for a nice dinner, but we didn’t want to get locked out again. Such a nice place if you could just get in.
