About this property
Secluded, Romantic Getaway. Perfect for Families Too!
Located in Pine Mountain Club CA, this newly refurbished three bedroom, one and a half bath home provides an ideal retreat from the relentless pace of the big city.
Only an hour and a half north of LA, people find it hard to believe that they're even in Southern California. We're located at 5,600 feet, on the forested slopes of 8,831 foot tall Mt. Pinos, where all four seasons make themselves known, one after the other.
We're located walking close, down a charming path, to the quaint PMC Village Center, which offers many conveniences, from restaurants and shops, to a grocery store and bakery, to name a few. At the same time, our home has a secluded feel, being at the end of a 150' gravel driveway, with a 'green belt' on three sides.
Nestled in a grove of amazing 60' tall oak trees, it's easy to lose track of time gazing out the huge sliding glass door at 7,492 foot San Emigdio Mountain., or sitting on the spacious deck, listening to the streams that flow into the meadow below us. It's common to see deer grazing just below the deck.
Built in 1974, our cabin is kind of a time capsule of that era, with its shag carpets, beautiful pine paneling and very 70's color scheme. Don't let that fool you though; with broadband wireless internet, 42' plasma high-definition flatscreen with DirecTV and Google Chromecast, we are fully up to date with 21st Century technology.
This area is most popular for its proximity to Mt. Pinos (you can drive almost to the top) and the Winter sports (cross-country skiing, sledding and inner-tubing) associated with it, but many love it up here in the warm months as well, when it's 20 degrees cooler than sweltering LA, and there's always a breeze. There's great hiking up here, and bicycling too, both on and off-road. There's also a 9-hole golf course at the PMC clubhouse, and a swimming pool, so in Summer, bring your bathing suit! We have guest passes that entitle our guests to use all facilities at the clubhouse.
A lot of folks simply come up here, whatever the season, to chill out and enjoy each others' company. Next time you've got a week-end or more where you'd like to get away to a very comfortable home away from home in the beautiful, peaceful mountains, we'd love to hear from you!
We do not rent for more than 2 weeks at a time.

About the host
Hosted by Chris
I am a full-time musician in LA. I have always loved coming up to PMC since I was a kid. I still come up here whenever I can, to decompress and recharge. For years now I've been renting our cabin, 'Chris' Cabin,' to a lot of very nice folks. I never knew I would enjoy this so much! Everyone seems to love it. I try to be very attentive, to make sure everyone has a wonderful time.
Why they chose this property
My Dad and I used to camp out up here in the 60s, when I was a kid. Dad and family friend Shirley bought a choice lot in brand new Pine Mt. Club. That was 1971. In 1974 they had this great cabin built, and it was our personal retreat. We always had a wonderful time whenever we'd come up. Dad and Shirley left me the cabin when they passed on. I totally revamped the cabin over a 6 month period in 2007, because I wanted to make it as comfortable and cozy as possible. I wanted to share the special experience of coming up to this beautiful place by making it a vacation rental.
What makes this property unique
It came out great! Chris' Cabin is a perfect combination of a cabiny feel (pine paneling, shag carpet, brick fireplace.), and all the hi-tech comforts (42' Plasma TV w/ 5.1 surround sound, Satellite TV, Satellite broadband internet.), as well as creature comforts (Very comfortable beds!, brand new top-line appliances, fully equipped kitchen). It's down a long driveway off a cul de sac. Situated right on the 'greenbelt', where no structures will ever be built, with a breathtaking view of Mt. San Emigdio on the opposing side of the Canyon. There is great hiking right out the front door, as well as nearby. We have descriptions of these and many other local activities in our 'Welcome Book'. You can walk to the nearby Village Center via the charming 'Snowflake Trail', a 10-15 minute walk. We have Guest Passes to use the facilities at the PMC clubhouse. Chris' Cabin is also a perfect combination of a secluded feel and lovely view, while being conveniently close to the Village Center.
