We enjoyed our stay. The house was very comfortable. It rained for part of our vacation, so we really appreciated having the screened porch and rec room. We would recommend it.
Our family has made it our Christmas tradition staying at Kevin’s place and it never disappoints. Kevin is always accommodating and prompt to respond. The place is always in great condition when we arrive and always feels like home when we stay. Thank you Kevin!
Our family had such an enjoyable time at Kevin’s cabin this new years. We had 6 adults, two teen/college age and toddler in our group so the house was a great fit for us with plenty of room for shared meals, family games and hanging out catching up. There was an extensive collection of games and books for us to enjoy as well as the ping pong, fusball and piano downstairs. It was a chilly and snowy visit, so we built a snowman and went xc skiing at Lake Superiors trails. We enjoyed walks around the lake, the Forest Reserve trails and our pup loved the dog park. We also loved the Bethel Woodstock museum. Kevin was a very attentive, informative and kind host from the get go. He was always quick with a reply or offering in advance info to make our stay great. He sent over area guides and shared activities listings with us.
The cabin is beautiful, clean and comfortable. A space for all 8 of us! Everything we needed was there. The days we spent there were a perfect mix of fun and relaxation. So much beauty to take in. We will be back!
Decided on this location as there were no nice hotels near our jobsite. Really enjoyed the privacy and being surrounded by nature. Had two deer visit us during our stay. Beds are super comfortable.
Our second annual family reunion at the Bethel House was even better than the first

Thanks so much for organizing your group and returning to stay us with again this year. It means a lot to Laura and I when folks enjoy their stay so much that they do indeed return. As we do book quickly, and erratically some times, it is best to book well in advance, say 6 months. Some have booked a year ahead.
Had a wonderful time here! The property was very clean and well maintained. The area was quiet and peaceful and felt nice and secluded. We loved the kayaks and the rec room. Kevin was responsive and helpful when we had questions. We would definitely stay here again
This was the first time I rented a place from VRBO. It was fabulous. The house couldn’t have had anything else. I was so delighted. I was able to take my two dogs with me too. It’s hard to find a place that allows fur people. If I have a reason to go back to Smallwood, I would definitely book it again. Thanks, Kevin.
The house was great for our family of 4 kids and 4 adults. Plenty of room beds were very comfortable house was very clean and comfortable. I recommend this house for your family and friends. We had a great time
The whole family had an amazing week! We had so much fun kayaking, fishing, hiking, swimming and exploring the area. We saw a ton of deer, lots of does and their fawns, and they were so close. We enjoyed the game room, putting a puzzle together, reading and relaxing by the fire. Great family vacation!
We could not have asked for a more perfect trip! The house was fantastic! Kevin thought of anything you could want. The kitchen was fully stocked with all equipment, linens were top quality and plentiful. The lake is beautiful. My family and I had a wonderful time! We can’t wait to go back.
On a 25 day driving trip from Missouri. This was a great location for a visit to Bethel and Woodstock. The home and amenities were great. Kevin was quick to respond to any questions. Our last night we were able to enjoy a great fire by the fire pit and enjoy our wine and some music. Highly recommend this getaway!
Our stay at this winter home was absolutely magical! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with breathtaking snowy views and a warm, inviting atmosphere inside. The home was spotless, beautifully decorated, and stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The fireplace made for the perfect cozy nights, and the large windows offered stunning views of the winter landscape. The kitchen was fully equipped, making it easy to prepare meals, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The location was ideal, with easy access to winter activities and indoor waterpark. The hosts were friendly, responsive, and made sure we had everything we needed. If you’re looking for a peaceful and charming winter escape, this rental is perfect. We can’t wait to come back next year!Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy and unforgettable winter getaway.
Extremely relaxing. The lake and the community was so quiet and peaceful. The house have everything you might need. There was 6 of us including a small child and there was plenty of room to have a space for yourself. We would definitely rent again. Wouldn’t even think twice about going with even more people.
The family group from the north met with the family group from the south there at the house and had a lovely stay together. The lower level of the house was perfect for the teenagers. We all enjoyed the homemade ice cream shop in town. And although some of us we're way too young to know what Woodstock was, they still enjoyed the visit there.
For the last several years, Kevin’s home has been a place where my family celebrates Christmas and this year was just as special as the others. It’s so nice to have a home away from home to celebrate. It’s spacious, clean, has a well stocked kitchen, plenty of bedrooms for my extended family, and has plenty of things to do for the little kids. We also traveled with our little dog, and the well lit exterior made taking the dog out at night very easy. Kevin is also very responsive to my questions. The conveniences of the space have families in mind and are well thought out. Thanks again Kevin!
The property was perfect and as described. What an amazing experience it was for our Siberian husky Luna. Looking at or being near, the lake is very cathartic, and all that we had hoped for. Inside there’s not a single amenity missing or anything you could possibly need. The host was easy to communicate with very kind and open. Very easy to work with Kevin and I will be in touch with him soon to book my next vacation!!
House was perfect. Hosts, Kevin and Laura, couldn't be easier to communicate with. Kitchen supplies were plentiful{plates, utensils, paper goods, cooking supplies all plentiful]. House was spotless and well maintained. my 2nd stay there and it won't be the last. Easy to get to and close to all in Bethel.
This is a place that we all want to come back to! Everything from booking questions, to questions while at the house, to leaving was seamless. Kevin had recommendations for any questions that we had and was always prompt in responding. The house has everything that you could need for a stay. The walk around the lake is beautiful. The kids loved the downstairs rec room. We all loved seeing the deer and bald eagles. We can't wait to go back again!
