Lutsen's ski hills are just a mile up Ski Hill Road, you can see the ski runs from the master bedroom window. This is the best skiing in Midwest! Miles of scenic snowmobile trails through Superior National Forest accessible directly from our home.

Hundreds of miles of spectacular hiking trails criss cross the forests and mountains. Mountain biking and horseback riding are available at the top of the hill. Kids of all ages will love the Alpine Slide just up the road. Ride the new 8 passenger Gondola to the top of Moose Mountain and have lunch on the deck of the chalet, it's a spectacular view! Golfers, Superior National Golf course offers 27 holes of beautiful scenery and challenging golf right across Ski Hill Road. Bikers, the newest section of the Gitchi-Gami State trail is just a 1/4 of a mile down Ski Hill Road. Set in Superior National Forest with no buildings behind it, just lots of trees. Fabulous 3 season porch. There's a private fire ring to gather around for evenings under the stars and let me tell you, they are spectacular here. It's the ideal vacation home for families and friends. Close to everything you love about the north shore, but away from the busy resorts.

We are from the Twin Cities, I grew up in Iowa and Bob grew up in North St. Paul. We started coming to the north shore together over 35 years ago and it stole our hearts. We got engaged and then married on Moose Mountain, the mountain you can see from the master bedroom window, yes, we rode the gondolas in a wedding and gown and a tux. Our reception was at Bluefin Bay so this area holds a lot of wonderful memories for us. We eventually got tired of the busyness of resorts and decided to buy a place we could call our home where it was private and quiet but still close to all the fun things to do in the area. We love the changes that have come to the area since then, the Gitchi Gami bike trail at the bottom of hill, the North Shore Winery next door, the major improvements at Lutsen Mountains a mile up the hill and Superior National Golf course across the road, it's a fabulous location. We are so happy to share our home with fellow north shore lovers, we hope to host your stay in our home away from home and make some wonderful memories of your own.

Why they chose this property

We come to the north shore as often as we can. After years of staying at a nearby resort, sometimes several times a year, we finally decided owning a home 'up north' made sense for us so we bought our vacation home in Lutsen. Of all the areas along the north shore, Lutsen has the most activities nearby making it a great place to go for an active vacation. We love to hike, snowshoe, golf and of course, watch the 'big lake'. Other nearby activities our guests enjoy include snowmobiling, you can leave right from our place to get on the trails, cross country skiing, the nearest trail is just up the hill, mountain biking, riding the Alpine Slide, downhill skiing and snowboarding a mile away at Lutsen Mountains, biking the Gitchi Gami trail at the bottom of Ski Hill Road even whitewater rafting the nearby Poplar River. Guests love being a short walk to the North Shore Winery on the other side of trees along Lodge Lane. There are art and gift galleries and boat rides in Grand Marais 20 minutes away, a favorite day trip for lunch and shopping. You'll run out of time before you run out of things to do but that's okay, you'll want to return, it's beautiful here in every season and always FUN!

What makes this property unique

Our home is one of only 12 homes that share 20 acres, it's not part of a resort so it's quiet and private but still really close to everything we love to do in Lutsen. We appreciate being out on our 3 season porch or deck and seeing trees, not other buildings. What made us fall in love with it is the decor. The home was built in 2001 and decorated right after September 11th so the builder's professional decorators chose a red and white and blue color scheme, it's very colorful and so unique. When we say it's cute, it really is, people love staying here.
